2021 touches à sa fin. Encore une année bizarre qu’on a traversé confinés, masqués, obligés de garder les distances avec nos proches. Une année dans laquelle la musique, l’art en général nous a beaucoup aidé à tenir bon et à garder le moral.
On a écouté beaucoup de nouveaux albums, on a découvert des incroyable artistes. On a pu quand même retrouver une vie culturelle quasiment normale avec des concerts, des spectacles, des expositions.
Et comme d’habitude à la fin de l’année, on vous présente notre BEST OF ROCK. Voilà 15 albums qu’on a adorés, décryptés, écoutés en boucle… ici à Rock Art Fashion. Des albums que vous avez pu découvrir sur le site à travers les playlists, les interviews, les chroniques…

TETRARCH – Unstable
Voilà une excellente découverte ! TETRARCH ! Le groupe américain a sorti son 2eme album Unstable le 30 Avril 2021 via Napalm Records.
Férocité, matraquage sonore, hymnes addictifs voilà, ce qui caractérise en quelque mots ce deuxième album extrêmement puissant et efficace. Mélange de riffs lourds et intenses, de sombres vibrations et de chœurs rapidement obsédants, TETRARCH est le groupe de heavy métal le plus tendance du moment, le groupe à qui tout le monde prédit un avenir fabuleux.
La talentueuse guitariste Diamond Rowe, la première guitariste de métal afro-américaine à figurer dans de grandes publications de spécialité comme Guitar World, Guitar Player et Metal Hammer, nous a parlé ici ce cet excellent album.
AYRON JONES – CHILD OF THE STATE
Il est bien connu que Seattle est le berceau du grunge. Seattle est la ville qui a vu naître Jimi Hendrix, Nirvana, Pearl Jam ou Soundgarden. Désormais à cette remarquable liste d’artistes, il faudra rajouter le talentueux guitariste, chanteur et compositeur, AYRON JONES. Une autre formidable découverte en 2021.
Son album, Child Of The State (Big Machine), sorti le 21 Mai 2021, est certainement mon préféré de cette année. Une merveille !
AYRON JONES est un guitariste phénoménal, sa voix est superbe et ses chansons catchy sont bien structurées et englobent parfaitement ce mélange intelligent de grunge, heavy, rock, blues et soul.
En novembre, j’ai eu la chance de le rencontrer (l’interview sera disponible bientôt) et le voir sur scène à Paris pour un show inoubliable. Il sera de retour en France au HELLFEST 2022!
NO MONEY KIDS- FACTORY
Le tandem français No Money Kids composent des ballades vertigineuses et des hymnes garage et font cohabiter avec une grande habilité le blues et l’électronique, le rock vibrant et l’indie-pop, le vintage et la modernité.
Composé dans l’intimité du confinement, l’album Factory sorti le 26 Novembre 2021, s’imprègne de l’atmosphère isolée de l’usine et nous embarque dans un road-trip électrique au rythme contagieux. Un bijou !
EVANESCENECE – THE BITTER TRUTH
Sorti le 26 Mars 2021,The Bitter Truth marque le retour phénoménal d’EVANESCENCE. Un événement que les fans attendaient depuis presque une décennie.
Un album passionnant et passionné dans lequel on retrouve avec plaisir l’esprit sombre et hard, l’émotion, une grande énergie et surtout, on retrouve Amy Lee, sans aucun doute l’une de voix les plus reconnaissables et les plus époustouflantes dans l’univers du rock et du heavy metal. Troy McLawhorn, le guitariste d’EVANESCENCE nous a parlé ici de cet album fantastique.
DURAN DURAN – FUTURE PAST
Leur premier album éponyme vient de fêter 40 ans et voilà que le groupe mythique de années 80, DURAN DURAN revient en force avec un nouvel album.
Avec FUTURE PAST, leur 15e album sorti le 22 octobre 2021, ceux qui était surnommés les Fab Five dévoilent des superbes compositions new wave, funk, synth-pop avec des guitares rock et des rhythmique dansante. Sans oublier leur vidéo clips spectaculaires, toujours à la pointe de la technologie et leur chiquissime fashion style. Fabuleux !
EXISTANCE – WOLF ATTACK
Des guitares superbes, des riffs épiques, un chant impressionnant, une rythmique puissante, le heavy métal glorieux de années 80s est mis à l’honneur avec le groupe français EXISTANCE. Leur nouvel album Wolf Attack sorti le 29 octobre 2021 est une véritable leçon du pur heavy metal classique imprégné de fraicheur et de modernité. Metal Lives Forever ! L’interview et par ici.
SLEEP TOKEN – THIS PLACE WILL BECOME YOUR TOMB
Le deuxième album de Sleep Token, “THIS PLACE WILL BECOME YOUR TOMB” est sorti le 24 septembre2021 via Spinefarm Records.
L’artiste underground britannique anonyme, silencieux, masqué, armé d’une gamme vocale stupéfiante et d’un clavier enchanté continue de cultiver le mystère et d’approfondir son univers sonore énigmatique. This Place Will Become Your Tomb repousse les limites du son de Sleep Token dans de nouvelles avenues en brouillant les genres tout en conservant sa signature sonore. Hypnotique !
ROZEDALE– ROZEDALE
Le troisième album du duo français ROZEDALE sorti le 28 Mai 2021 est un nouveau départ. Effectivement si leur musique reste toujours encrée dans classic blues rock de leurs débuts, pour cet 3ème opus, leur riche paysage sonore prend une orientation plus pop-rock.
On retrouve des guitares perçantes, des refrains accrocheurs, des belles mélodies et des harmonies sensuelles. Et on retrouve surtout la remarquable voix puissante et obsédante d’Amandyn qui s’aventure aisément dans plusieurs registres. Dix titres divers et merveilleux qui s’enchainent en toute beauté pour former un album charmant qui dégage une émotion très intense.
SOEN – IMPERIAL
Sorti le 29 janvier 2021, via Silver Lining Music, le nouvel album du groupe suédois SOEN, IMPERIAL est l’équilibre parfait entre les chansons heavy avec de riffs lourds et sombres et les morceaux mélodiques et douces, avec des guitares aériennes et des lignes vocales d’une beauté inouïe.
IMPERIAL est un album puissant et plein d’émotion, intense et contemplatif, un album mémorable et essentiel que les fans de métal progressif doivent absolument écouter. Le batteur, Martin López, nous a parlé de ce chef d’œuvre ici.
THE LUKA STATE- FALL IN FALL OUT
Leurs idoles s’appellent The Beatles, David Bowie, The Who, The Clash, Oasis, The Stone Roses ou Sex Pistols et leurs chansons sont un pur concentré d’énergie et d’honnêteté, THE LUKA STATE sont les dignes héritiers du BritRock qu’on aime passionnément.
Ce quatuor ambitieux et déterminé a sorti son premier album fin janvier 2021. Intitulé Fall In Fall Out, les 12 chansons de l’album provoquent une véritable montée d’adrénaline.
Guitares vrombissantes, voix rocailleuse, rythmiques explosives et sonorités vertigineuse, le groupe excelle dans des compositions rock brut accrocheuses mais révèle aussi son grand talent dans l’interprétation des mélodies planantes dotées d’une grande sensibilité.
Invités dans l’émission Taratata, le quatuor a aussi donné un concert sold out à Paris le 18 septembre 2021 au Club 1999. Ils seront de retour à Paris le 25 Janvier 2022 au Etoiles.
WARDRUNA– Kvitravn
Le 22 janvier 2021, le groupe de néo-folk nordique, WARDRUNA a sorti Kvitravn. Cet album dévoile la beauté du folk traditionnel norvégien interprété d’une manière moderne et nous permet de s’envoler vers les paysages de la Norvège et ses terres peuplées de créatures magnifiques.
Les chansons de WARDRUNA parlent des traditions, de la nature, des animaux sacrés, de la spiritualité, de la philosophie, de la mythologies ou d’autres sujets ésotériques… Les sonorités puissantes nous plongent dans une transe ensorcelante. Même si on ne comprend pas la langue, on ressent le pouvoir des mots, l’émotion, la poésie qui touche nos âmes. Superbe !
GOJIRA – Fortitude
GOJIRA est incontestablement LE groupe français de métal qui a su capter l’attention du public et des médias du monde entier. Leur death metal profond et intelligent ne connaît pas de frontière. “Fortitude”, sorti le 30 Avri 2021, leur 7ème album, est un cri pour la planète, porteur d’un message écologiste et engagé qui a été salué bien au-delà de la presse spécialisée.
Le quatuor basque sera en concert en France en février 2022. Ces trois grands concerts à Lyon, Bordeaux et Paris Bercy auront des allures de consécration pour Gojira !
POP EVIL – VERSATILE
Les hard rockers de Michigan, POP EVIL, ont dévoilé leur très attendu sixième album, VERSATILE, via Entertainment One (eOne), le 21 mai 2021.
Si on connaissait déjà l’excellente l’habilité du POP EVIL de mélanger les styles – pop, rock, métal- pour créer des véritables hymnes head banger et des ballades magnifiques, cette fois les américains vont encore plus loin dans la recherche ambitieuse de nouvelles sonorités.
VERSATILE sonne exactement comme son nom l’indique. Aux rythmiques percutantes et aux riffs colossaux se rajoutent des mélodies groovy agrémentées de touches EDM qui poussent leur musique vers des territoires inconnus. Un album de rock métal résolument contemporain.
THE BLUE STONES- Hidden Gems
Avec un mélange savoureux de Rock N’Roll, de RNB, de blues et de grunge, THE BLUE STONES nous entraine dans leur univers explosif à travers 10 chansons très efficaces qui possèdent de mélodies super addictives. Des guitares punchy, des refrains accrocheurs et des rythmes tournoyantes Hidden Gems porte bien son nom. Un précieux joyaux à écouter en boucle.
NO TERROR IN THE BANG – Eclosion
Bienvenue dans l’univers du métal cinématographique du groupe français de Métal Alternatif & Immersif, NO TERROR IN THE BANG.
Eclosion (M&O Music), leur premier, sorti le 5 mars 2021est un album d’une richesse formidable. La construction de l’album est excellente. Les sonorités frénétiques et furieuses alternent avec les mélodies suaves. Les guitares agressives sont interrompues par des violons et des accords de piano mystérieux. Le rock énervé alterne avec les musiques classiques, le hip hop ou le jazz. Et le chant est hypnotisant.
Eclosion est l’Album PARFAIT ! Une véritable éclosion d’un groupe dans lequel la créativité et le talent règnent !

2021 is coming to an end. Another bizarre year that we went through locked down, masked, forced to keep our distance from our beloved ones. A year in which music, art in general helped us a lot to hold on and keep our spirits up. We listened to a lot of new albums, we discovered incredible new artists. We were still able to find an almost normal cultural life with concerts, shows, exhibitions.

TETRARCH – Unstable
This was an excellent discovery: TETRARCH! The American band released their 2nd album, Unstable on April 30, 2021 via Napalm Records.
Ferocity, loud bludgeoning, addictive hymns, killer guitars that’s what characterizes in a few words this extremely powerful and effective second album. A mix of heavy and intense riffs, dark vibrations and haunting choruses, TETRARCH is the trendiest heavy metal band of the moment, the band to which everyone predicts a fabulous future.
The talented guitarist Diamond Rowe, the first African-American metal female guitarist featured in major industry publications such as Guitar World, Guitar Player and Metal Hammer, told us here about this excellent album.
AYRON JONES – Child Of The State
It is well known that Seattle is the birthplace of grunge. Seattle is the city where Jimi Hendrix, Nirvana, Pearl Jam or Soundgarden were born. Now to this remarkable list of artists, we will have to add the talented guitarist, singer and composer, AYRON JONES. Another tremendous discovery of 2021!
His album, Child Of The State (Big Machine), released on May 21, 2021, is definitely my favourite this year. Brilliant!
AYRON JONES is a phenomenal guitarist, his voice is superb and his catchy songs are well structured and perfectly encompass this clever mix of grunge, heavy, rock, blues and soul.
In November, I had the chance to meet him (the interview will be available soon) and see him on stage in Paris for an unforgettable show. He will be back in France at HELLFEST 2022!
NO MONEY KIDS – Factory
The French tandem NO MONEY KIDS compose vertiginous ballads and garage anthems and make cohabit with great skill blues and electronics, vibrant rock and indie-pop, vintage and modernity. Composed in the intimacy of the lockdown, the album Factory released on November 26, 2021, is impregnated with the isolated atmosphere of the factory and embarks us on an electric road trip with a contagious rhythm. A gem!
EVANESCENCE – The Bitter Truth
Released on March 26, 2021, The Bitter Truth marks the phenomenal return of EVANESCENCE. An event that fans have been waiting for almost a decade.
An exciting and passionate album in which we find with pleasure the darkness, the emotion, a great energy and above all, we find Amy Lee, undoubtedly one of the most recognizable and breath-taking voices in the world of rock and heavy metal. Troy McLawhorn, the guitarist of EVANESCENCE told us here about this fantastic album.
DURAN DURAN – FUTURE PAST
Their first eponymous album has just celebrated 40 years anniversary and on the same occasion the 80’s mythical band DURAN DURAN is back in force with a new album.
With FUTURE PAST, their 15th album released on October 22, 2021, those who were nicknamed the “Fab Five” unveil superb new wave, funk, synth-pop compositions with rock guitars and dancing addictive rhythms. Not to mention their spectacular video clips, always at the forefront of technology and their chic fashion style. Fabulous!
EXISTANCE – Wolf Attack
Superb guitars, epic riffs, impressive vocals, powerful rhythm, the glorious heavy metal of the 80s is honoured with the French band EXISTANCE. SLEEP TOKEN – THIS PLACE WILL BECOME YOUR TOMB
SLEEP TOKEN’s second album, THIS PLACE WILL BECOME YOUR TOMB was released on September 24, 2021 via Spinefarm Records. The anonymous, silent, masked British underground artist, armed with a stunning vocal range and an enchanted keyboard continues to cultivate mystery and deepen his enigmatic sound universe.
This Place Will Become Your Tomb pushes the boundaries of Sleep Token’s sound into new avenues by blurring genres while retaining its sound signature. Hypnotic!
ROZEDALE – ROZEDALE
The third album of the French duo ROZEDALE released on May 28, 2021 is a new beginning. If their music always remains inked in classic blues rock of their beginnings, for this 3rd opus, their rich soundscape takes a more pop-rock orientation. There are piercing guitars, catchy choruses, beautiful melodies and sensual harmonies. And we find above all the remarkable powerful and haunting voice of Amandyn who easily ventures into several register. A charming album that exudes a very intense deep emotion.
SOEN – IMPERIAL
Released on January 29, 2021, via Silver Lining Music, the new album of the Swedish band SOEN, IMPERIAL is the perfect balance between heavy songs with dark riffs and melodic and soft tracks, with aerial guitars and vocal lines of incredible beauty.
IMPERIAL is a powerful and emotional, intense and contemplative album, a memorable and essential album that all progressive metal fans should definitely listen to. The drummer, Martin López, told us about this masterpiece here.
THE LUKA STATE – Fall In Fall Out
Their idols are called The Beatles, David Bowie, The Who, The Clash, Oasis, The Stone Roses or Sex Pistols and their songs are a pure concentrate of energy and honesty, THE LUKA STATE are the worthy heirs of the BritRock that we love passionately.
This ambitious and determined quartet released their first album at the end of January 2021. Entitled Fall In Fall Out, the album is a real adrenaline jab. Roaring guitars, roaring vocals, explosive rhythms and vertiginous sounds, the band excels in catchy raw rock compositions but also reveals its great talent in the interpretation of soaring melodies endowed with great sensitivity.
Invited in the TV show Taratata, the quartet also performed a sold-out concert in Paris on September 18, 2021 at club 1999. They will be back in Paris on January 25, 2022 at Le Etoiles.
WARDRUNA – Kvitravn
On January 22, 2021, Nordic neo-folk band WARDRUNA released Kvitravn. This album reveals the beauty of traditional Norwegian folk interpreted in a modern way and allows us to fly to the landscapes of Norway and its lands populated by magnificent creatures.
WARDRUNA ‘s songs are about traditions, nature, sacred animals, spirituality, philosophy, mythology or other esoteric subjects… The powerful sounds plunge us into a bewitching trance. Even if we do not understand the language, we feel the power of words, the emotion, the poetry that touches our souls. Superb!
GOJIRA – Fortitude
GOJIRA is undoubtedly THE French metal band that has captured the attention of the public and the media around the world. Their deep and intelligent death metal knows no borders. “Fortitude”, released on April 30, 2021, their 7th album, is a cry for the planet, carrying an ecological and committed message that has been hailed far beyond the specialized press. The Basque quartet will be in concert in France in February 2022. These three great concerts in Lyon, Bordeaux and Paris Bercy will look like consecration for Gojira!
POP EVIL – VERSATILE
Michigan hard rockers POP EVIL unveiled their highly anticipated sixth album, VERSATILE, via Entertainment One (eOne) on May 21, 2021. If we already knew the excellent ability of POP EVIL to mix styles – pop, rock, metal – to create real head banger anthems and magnificent ballads, this time the Americans go even further in the ambitious search for new sounds.
VERSATILE sounds exactly as the name suggests. To the striking rhythms and colossal riffs are added groovy melodies embellished with EDM keys that push their music into unknown territories. A resolutely contemporary metal rock album.
THE BLUE STONES – Hidden Gems (label eOne.)
Canadian alternative blues rock duo THE BLUE STONES released their highly anticipated second album, Hidden Gems (eOne) on March 19, 2021. With a tasty mix of Rock N’Roll, RNB, blues and grunge, THE BLUE STONES takes us into their explosive universe through 10 very energetic songs that have super addictive melodies. Punchy guitars, catchy choruses and swirling rhythms Hidden Gems lives up to its name. A precious jewel to listen toover and over again.
NO TERROR IN THE BANG – Eclosion
Welcome to the world of cinematic metal of the French alternative & immersive metal band, NO TERROR IN THE BANG.
Eclosion (M&O Music), their debut album, released on March 5, 2021, is an album of tremendous richness. The construction of the album is excellent. The frenetic and furious sounds alternate with the sweet melodies. Aggressive guitars are interrupted by mysterious violins and piano chords.
Angry rock alternates with classical music, hip hop or jazz. And the singing is mesmerizing. Eclosion is the PERFECT Album! A real birth of a group in which creativity and talent reign!
