En 2022 et 2023 les rockeuses de THUNDERMOTHER ont cumulé un nombre impressionnant de concerts dans le monde entier : que ça soit dans des festivals, en tête d’affiche ou en première partie du groupe légendaire, SCORPIONS.

Etant donné que j’avais raté leur concert à HELLFEST le 18 juin, je les attendais avec beaucoup d’impatience à Paris, en ce 29 Novembre 2023 au Petit Bain pour découvrir en live, leur dernier album en date, Black and Gold, sorti en août 2022 (sur AFM Records) mais aussi des hits plus anciens, car le groupe existe depuis 2009 et a déjà 5 albums à son actif.

On arrive trop tard (journée de travail bien chargée) pour voir les américains de Lansdowne qui ont eu la mission d’ouvrir la soirée.

La fosse est déjà bondée et il fait très chaud, comme souvent sur la péniche-salle de concert parisienne.

Quelques coups de tonnerre et les quatre filles de THUNDERMOTHER prennent d’assaut la scène avec Loud and Free, parfait pour démarrer le show.

La guitariste fondatrice du groupe, Filippa Nässil, accompagnées par Majsan Lindberg (basse), Linnéa Vikström (chant, ex-Therion, At the Movies) et Joan Massing (batterie) portent des outfits très rock, jean et cuir, avec de broderies et de franges (mention très spéciale pour le blouson de Linnéa), des jolies tatouages. Elles sont rapidement très à l’aise sur la petite scène.

Des estrades sont installées en bord de scène et chacune monte à tour de rôle pour s’approcher encore plus du public mais aussi pour démontrer leurs talents de musiciennes pour notre plus grand bonheur.

Try with Love, Hellevator, Dog From Hell, une déferlante de hard rock brut et efficace nous tombe dessus. L’énergie est au maximum, la température est déjà montée drastiquement et tout le monde dégouline de sueur.

Malgré le peu de place sur scène Filippa, Majsan et Linnéa sont constamment en mouvement et n’hésitent pas à balayer la scène de gauche à droite, prennent de poses Rock N’Roll et encourage le public sans arrêt.

Le nouveau single, I Left My Licence in the Future est acclamé chaleureusement. Les bras et les téléphones en l’air, des cris forts, le public surexcité réagit avec enthousiasme à chaque morceau. Il est difficile à se déplacer dans la salle et encore plus de prendre de photos.

Des rythmiques  rapides, des mélodies accrocheuse, Heat Wave, Into the Mud, It’s Just a Tease ou l’excellent I Don’t Know You déversent une puissance rock digne d’AC/DC, le groupe qui les a le plus influencé dans leur parcours.

Linnea séduit avec sa voix rock puissante, Filippa fait rugir sa guitare et délivre sans arrêt des riffs bluffants, elle descendra jouer même au milieu du public, Majsan nous enchante avec de ligne de basse percutantes, alors que Joan martèle son kit avec une impressionnante dextérité. Un énorme un solo de batterie exécuté parfaitement par la française nous laissera carrément bouche bée. Ses camarades lui rendront d’ailleurs hommage avec La Marseillaise reprise en cœur par le public euphorique. Beaucoup d’émotion !

We Fight for Rock N’Roll, Raise Your Hands va fédérer tout le monde alors que Sleep calme un peu les esprits.

La cohésion entre les filles est excellente. Elles jouent dos à dos, échangent de regards et des sourires et exécutent ensemble les morceaux en parfaite complicité. Elles prennent énormément de plaisir à jouer devant nous.

Shoot to Kill, Stratosphere, Thunderous entre autres, nous ramener vers la fin du set. Le rappel avec Watch Out et Driving in Style sera une véritable explosion rock’n’roll.

Le Rock au féminin triomphe ce soir à Paris, au Petit Bain, avec Thundermother en forme olympique ! Sans aucun doute le quatuor est né pour briller sur scène ! Un show du tonnerre, une énorme énergie qui a conquis un public totalement ébloui !

In 2022 and 2023, the rockers of THUNDERMOTHER have accumulated an impressive number of concerts all over the world: whether at festivals, as headliners or as opening for the legendary band, SCORPIONS. 

Since I had missed their concert at HELLFEST on June 18th, I was waiting for them with a lot of impatience in Paris, on November 29th, 2023 at the Petit Bain to discover live, their latest album, Black and Gold, released in August 2022 (on AFM Records) but also the older hits, because the band has been around since 2009 and already has 5 albums to its credit.

We arrive too late (busy day) to see the Americans from Lansdowne who had the mission to open the evening.

The pit is already crowded and it’s very hot, as is often the case on the Parisian barge-concert hall. 

A few thunderclaps and the four girls of THUNDERMOTHER storm the stage with Loud and Free, the perfect to start to put us in the mood.  

The band’s founding guitarist, Filippa Nässil, accompanied by Majsan Lindberg (bass), Linnéa Vikström (vocals) and Joan Massing (drums) wear very rock outfits, denim and leather, with embroidery and fringes (special mention for Linnéa’s jacket).

They quickly became very comfortable on the small stage.  Platforms are set up at the edge of the stage and each one takes turns to get even closer to the audience but also to demonstrate their talents as musicians for our greatest happiness.

Try with Love, Hellevator, Dog From Hell, a wave of raw and effective hard rock falls on us. The energy is at its highest, the temperature has already risen drastically and everyone is dripping with sweat.  Despite the limited space on stage Filippa, Majsan and Linnéa are constantly on the move and do not hesitate to sweep the stage from left to right, strike Rock N’ Roll poses and encourage the audience to sing and clap non-stop. 

The new single, I Left My Licence in the Future, was warmly acclaimed. Arms and phones in the air, loud screams, the excited audience reacts enthusiastically to each track. It is difficult to move around the room and even more difficult to take pictures.

Fast rhythmics , catchy melodies, Heat Wave, Into the Mud, It’s Just a Tease or excellent I Don’t Know You pour out a rock power worthy of AC/DC, the band that has influenced them the most in their career.

Linnéa seduces with her powerful rock voice, Filippa makes her guitar roar and delivers bluffing riffs non-stop, she will come down to play even in the middle of the audience, Majsan enchants us with percussive bass lines, while Joan hammers her kit with impressive dexterity. A huge drum solo perfectly executed by the French girl will leave us speechless. Her colleagues will even pay tribute to her with a Marseillaise that will be sung along by the audience with great enthusiasm. A lot of emotion!

We Fight for Rock N’ Roll and Raise Your Hands will unite everyone while Sleep calms things down a bit.  The cohesion between the girls is excellent. They play back-to-back, exchange glances and smiles and perform the tracks together in perfect complicity. They have a lot of fun playing in front of us and give it their all the best.

Shoot to Kill, Stratosphere, Thunderous among others, bring us back to the end of the set. The encore with Watch Out and Driving in Style will be a real rock’n’roll explosion. 

Female Rock triumphs tonight in Paris at Petit Bain with Thundermother in Olympic form! Thundermother has confirmed that they are a brilliant live band born to perform on stage! A thunderous show, an enormous energy that conquered a totally dazzled audience! WATCH OUT! Girls Rock and they are Loud and Free!
