BYE BYE 2023 ! Une année qui est passée vite, trop vite, presque dans un clin d’œil. Une année très ROCK ! On a assisté à énormément de concerts, on a écouté beaucoup de musique, on s’est émerveillés devant des nombreuses expositions…
On vous a présentés les artistes qu’on a adorés et célébré ici à Rock Art Fashion à travers des chroniques, des concerts, des playlists, des interviews, comme on le fait maintenant depuis 10 ans déjà, car oui, 2023 a aussi marqué le dixième anniversaire de notre site ! Time files !
C’est le temps donc de dresser notre liste de BEST OF ROCK : les quinze albums et concerts qui nous ont enchantés toute au longue de l’année !

On a commencé 2023 avec une déferlante de riffs, beaucoup de rires et des joyeux pas de danse, du rock addictif, du disco- funk délirant et un peu de heavy metal, KO KO MO et ROYAL REPUBLIC nous ont offert une soirée fantastique fin janvier !
AVATAR – Olympia, Paris 10/03/2023
Du premier morceau, Dance Devil Dance au dernier Hail The Apocalypse, les citoyens d’Avatar country ou les visiteurs curieux ont reçu une salve de 18 morceaux expédiés avec aplomb et grande énergie. Des sonorités extrêmes ou des mélodies contagieuses, un voyage musical électrique, émotionnel et hypnotisant avec AVATAR au sommet de sa forme !
DURAN DURAN – O2 ARENA, Londres 01/05+02/05/2023
2 nuits incroyablement fantastiques à Londres, O2 Arena en compagnie des géants de la new wave pop rock 80’s DURAN DURAN. Deux shows électrisants, vibrants et joyeux qui ont déroulé une setlist parfaite comprenant un grand nombre de leurs impressionnants succès du début des années 80 (that fabulous « Careless Memories » !!!). Triomphante et glorieuse célébration de leurs 40 ans de carrière ! Duranie FOREVER !
SKID ROW- Hellfest 16/06/2023
L’un des concerts que j’attendais avec beaucoup d’impatience à Hellfest – SKID ROW ! Performance punchy absolument impeccable qui a dépassé toutes mes attentes ! Un set list d’enfer !
PANTERA- Hellfest 18/06/2023
Un autre concert que j’attendais avec impatience à Hellfest 2023 et que j’ai adoré : PANTERA. Les Cowboys From Hell, Phil Anselmo et Rex Brown, ont convié donc Zakk Wylde et Charlie Benante (Anthrax) pour nous faire vibrer au rythme de leur groove métal légendaire et nous faire revivre des hymnes culte de toute une époque. Un incroyable moment de nostalgie !
GUNS N’ROSES – Paris, La Défense ARENA – 13/07/2023
Concert Dantesque ! GNR en forme Olympique : 3h30 de show, un véritable marathon de hits ! Quel Bonheur et quels souvenirs d’une anniversaire très spéciale !!! MERCI !
LARKIN POE – Olympia, Paris 15/10/2023
Le duo blues rock américain, LARKIN POE, formé par les sœurs Rebecca et Megan Lovell a complétement envouté le public parisien avec des fabuleuses sonorités blues rock, des harmonies séduisantes, des sublimes guitares qui ont mis parfaitement en valeur l’éventail d’influences musicales du groupe. Difficile de trouver les bons mots pour décrire l’émotion et l’émerveillement qu’on puisse ressentir devant un show Larkin Poe. Magique !
THE STRUTS – Trabendo, Paris 23/08/2023
Concert de Dingue ! Pur Bonheur Rock N’Roll !! Avec une énergie rock ravageuse, un set list de folie, une impeccable présence scénique et une impressionnante capacité à se connecter avec ses fans, THE STRUTS a magistralement démontré encore une fois qu’il est l’un de groupes le plus exaltants du rock actuel. Fabulous ROCKSTARS !
THE DEAD DAISIES – La Machine Du Moulin Rouge, Paris – 05/11/2023
Un fabuleux moment de old school Rock N’Roll avec THE DEAD DAISIES dans une ambiance très chaleureuse. Un show électrique avec de musiciens d’exception, heureux de jouer ensemble et qui ont donné le maximum pour combler leur public.
INTERPOL – BEACON THEATRE, NEW YORK -14/12/2023
Après une longue tournée mondiale qui faisait suite à son septième album, The Other Side of Make-Believe, sorti en 2022, Interpol clôturait l’année à la maison, à New York pour deux concerts au Beacon Théâtre et à Washington au Club 9 :30.
Si à Paris le 5 juillet, les new yorkers nous avait invités dans un lieu aussi magnifique que prestigieux que la Philharmonie de Paris pour célébrer le vingtième anniversaire de l’album ANTICS, à New York ils ont rallumé encore une fois les lumières brillantes et enflammé la foule avec un show superbe, construit sur une des meilleurs set list que j’ai jamais entendu dans un de plus beau théâtre que j’ai jamais vu. Voilà comment terminer l’année en beauté ! Quel bonheur !

C’est fort, c’est surprenant, c’est délicieusement accrocheur et totalement dingue ! Dance Devil Dance est décidément un chef-d’œuvre ! Un groupe au sommet de son art ! AVATAR nous a convaincu depuis bien longtemps et avec Dance Devil Dance le groupe suédois enfonce le clou et nous met simplement KO. En tournée en France en Mars 2024 !
THE LUKA STATE –More Than This
Des hymnes féroces et révoltés, des mélodies pleines d’émotion, avec ce deuxième album THE LUKA STATE confirme le talent et la sincérité du groupe anglais qui continue son ascension vers les sommets du Rock N’Roll. En Concert à Paris le 31/01/2024 – Les Etoiles
Mammoth WVH -“MAMMOTH II”
Le groupe du talentueux Wolfgang Van Halen (le fils d’Eddie Van Halen) nous a fait forte impression cette année ; d’abord au Stade de France en ouverture de Metallica et surtout avec son deuxième album “MAMMOTH II”.
Des riffs à couper le souffle, des solos étourdissantes, des mélodies accrocheuses, des rhythmiques à cadence infernale, le chanteur multi-instrumentiste auteur-compositeur prouve largement son indéniable talent et sa technique millimétrée irréprochable. Un album hard & heavy rock puissant et délicieux d’une remarquable qualité.
Intensité à plein régime, riffs massifs, rythmique éblouissante, puissance vocale, darkness et vulnérabilité…, le nouvel album METALLICA est un marathon d’hymnes implacables ! Une expérience sonore palpitante du début jusqu’à la fin ! Pour moi, le meilleur METALLICA depuis le Black Album ! En concert à Hellfest 2024.
AYRON JONES – Chronicles Of The Kid
En 2023, AYRON JONES continue à nous épater avec un nouvel album Chronicles Of The Kid- brillant et purement explosif. Un album qu’on peut décrire comme un recueil de Chroniques de vie ou un Journal Intime raconté à travers de riffs agressifs, des solos déchirants, des rhythmiques funky et rebondissantes, une voix passionnée et des paroles poignantes qui témoignent de sa vie qui n’a pas toujours été facile, mais aussi de son évolution et de sa croissance en tant qu’artiste. En tournée en France février 2024.
SAINT AGNES – Bloodsuckers
Énorme coup de foudre pour SAINT AGNES et leur rock enragé, explosif, sombre, sincère et totalement engagé. Bloodsuckers, leur brillant deuxième album, sorti cet été a totalement bousculé mes écoutes. En Concert à Paris, 6 février 2024, aux Etoiles.
WITHIN TEMPTATION – Bleed Out
Bleed Out est une collection d’hymnes exceptionnelles à la fois musicalement et émotionnellement. Avec ce nouveaux disque, WITHIN TEMPTATION prend un virage plus agressif, très heavy metal, tout en conservant l’empreinte métal symphonique si distinctive du sextette. Un véritable reflet de notre époque. Un album incontournable ! En tourée en France en Novembre 2024.
THE STRUTS – Pretty Vicious
Avec leur nouvel album, Pretty Vicious, The Struts nous livre la magie du Rock N’Roll triomphant et éternel qui nous fait tourner la tête. Une bonne nouvelle pour le Rock et pour The Struts qui sont dans la bonne voie pour accomplir des grandes choses. Un sans-faute. Un coup de maitre !100% Rock N’Roll vibes !
WINGS OF STEEL – Gates of Twilight
Grand coup de cœur pour Wings Of Steel ! Si vous êtes fan de métal classique, si vous aimez Whitesnake, Helloween ou Queensryche, avec Gates of Twilight, WINGS OF STEEL va vous transporter dans des territoires sonores grandioses où le métal règne. Le groupe américain déploie ses ailes (en acier) et s’empare de la planète heavy metal avec un premier album massif et brillant ! En concert à Paris le 16 mai 2024 aux Etoiles.
GRETA VAN FLEET – STARCATCHER
GRETA VAN FLEET nous livre STARCATCHER, une très belle collection de chansons réunis façon concept album, un enchainement des mélodies atmosphériques, des riffs ensorcelants, des sonorités de rock classiques 70s et bien sûr des rythmiques pure Rock N’Roll couronnés par la voix enchanteresse de Josh Kiszka. Un album cosmique et lumineux à écouter en boucle.

BYE BYE 2023! A year that has flown by quickly, too quickly, almost in the blink of an eye. A very ROCK year! We attended a lot of concerts, we listened to a lot of music, we marvelled at the many exhibitions…
We introduced you to the artists that we loved and celebrated here at Rock Art Fashion through reviews, concerts, playlists, interviews, as we have been doing now for 10 years already, because yes, 2023 also marked the tenth anniversary of our site! Time files!
So, it’s time to draw up our list of BEST OF ROCK: the fifteen albums and concerts that have amazed us all year long. Check out the playlist and enjoy!

We started 2023 with a wave of riffs, lots of laughter and joyful dance steps, addictive rock, crazy disco-funk and a bit of heavy metal, KO KO MO and ROYAL REPUBLIC offered us a fantastic night!
AVATAR – Olympia, Paris 10/03/2023
From the first track, Dance Devil Dance, to the last one, Hail The Apocalypse, the citizens of Avatar country or curious visitors received a salvo of 18 tracks shipped with aplomb and great energy. Extreme sounds or contagious melodies, an electric, emotional and mesmerizing musical journey with AVATAR at the top of its shape!
DURAN DURAN – O2 ARENA, London 01/05+02/05/2023
2 unbelievably fantastic nights in London, O2 Arena in the company of the giants of the new wave pop rock 80’s : DURAN DURAN. Two electrifying, vibrant and joyful shows, which unfurled a perfect setlist including many of their impressive hits from the early 80s (that fabulous “Careless Memories” !!). Triumphant and glorious celebration of their 40-year career! Duranie FOREVER!
SKID ROW- Hellfest 16/06/2023
One of the shows I was really looking forward to at Hellfest – SKID ROW! Absolutely impeccable punchy performance that exceeded all my expectations! A hell of a set list!
PANTERA- Hellfest 18/06/2023
Another concert I was looking forward to at Hellfest 2023 and totally loved: PANTERA. The Cowboys From Hell, Phil Anselmo and Rex Brown, invited Zakk Wylde and Charlie Benante (Anthrax) to make us vibrate to the rhythm of their legendary metal groove and make us relive cult anthems of an entire era. An incredible moment of nostalgia !

LARKIN POE – Olympia, Paris 15.10.2023
The American blues rock duo, LARKIN POE, formed by sisters Rebecca and Megan Lovell completely mesmerized the Parisian audience with fabulous blues rock sounds, seductive vocals, sublime guitars that perfectly highlighted the band’s range of musical influences. It’s hard to find the right words to describe the emotion and wonder you can feel in front of a Larkin Poe show. Magic !
THE STRUTS – Trabendo, Paris 23/08/2023
Crazy Concert! Pure Rock N’ Roll bliss!! With devastating rock energy, a crazy set list, an impeccable stage presence and an impressive ability to connect with their fans, THE STRUTS have masterfully demonstrated once again that they are one of the most exhilarating bands in rock today. A fabulous moment of old school Rock N’ Roll with THE DEAD DAISIES in a very warm atmosphere. An electric show with exceptional musicians, happy to play together and do their best to delight their audience.
INTERPOL – BEACON THEATRE, NEW YORK -14/12/2023
After an extensive world tour that followed their seventh album, The Other Side of Make-Believe, released in 2022, Interpol closed the year at home, in New York for two concerts at the Beacon Theatre and in Washington at the 9:30 Club.
If in Paris on July 5th, the New Yorkers had invited us to a place as magnificent as prestigious as the Philharmonie de Paris to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the album ANTICS, in New York they once again turned on the bright lights and set the crowd on fire with a superb show, built on one of their best set lists I have ever heard in one of the most beautiful theater I have ever seen. Here’s how to end the year on a high note! What a joy!

AYRON JONES – Chronicles Of The Kid
In 2023, AYRON JONES continues to amaze us with a new album Chronicles Of The Kid– brilliant and purely explosive. An album that can be described as a collection of Life Chronicles or a Diary told through aggressive riffs, heartbreaking solos, funky and bouncy rhythms, a passionate voice and poignant lyrics that testify to his life which has not always been easy, but also to his evolution and growth as an artist. On tour in France in February 2024.
SAINT AGNES – Bloodsuckers
Huge love at first sight for SAINT AGNES and their rabid, explosive, dark, sincere and totally committed rock. Bloodsuckers, their brilliant second album, released this summer, totally shook up my listening. In Concert in Paris, February 6, 2024, at Les Etoiles.
WITHIN TEMPTATION – Bleed Out
Bleed Out is a collection of outstanding anthems both musically and emotionally. With this new album, WITHIN TEMPTATION takes a more aggressive, very heavy metal turn, while keeping the symphonic metal imprint so distinctive of the sextet. A true reflection of our times. A must-have album! On tour in France in November 2024.
THE STRUTS – Pretty Vicious

The American band spreads its (steel) wings and takes over the heavy metal planet with a massive and brilliant first album! In concert in Paris on May 16, 2024 at Les Etoiles.
GRETA VAN FLEET – STARCATCHER
GRETA VAN FLEET delivers STARCATCHER, a beautiful collection of songs gathered like a concept album, a sequence of atmospheric melodies, bewitching riffs, classic 70s rock sounds and of course pure Rock N’ Roll rhythms crowned by the enchanting voice of Josh Kiszka. A cosmic and luminous album to listen to over and over again.
