Après leur performance remarquable à Hellfest 2022, les nouvelles de la part de TYLER BRYANT & THE SHAKEDOWN ne se sont pas fait attendre.
Car en ce début d’automne bien frisquet, le groupe de Nashville nous offre Shake The Roots, un nouvel album composé de 12 morceaux blues rock chaleureux et puissantes, directement inspirés de l’énergie live du groupe.
Avec ce 5ème album, sorti le 9 septembre en digital (la sortie physique n’a pas encore été annoncé), le jeune prodige de la guitare, Tyler Bryant (chant, guitare) et ses acolytes : Caleb Crosby (batterie) et Graham Whitford (guitare, chœurs) ont pris leur envol en décidant de créer leur propre label, Rattle Shake Records.
La raison : avoir un plus grand degré de contrôle et de propriété sur l’enregistrement, la promotion et la sortie de leur musique et éliminer ainsi les barrières qui pourraient freiner leurs ambitions.
« Nous passons beaucoup de temps à composer et à enregistrer, mais maintenant nous voulons consacrer ce temps à partager notre art avec les gens qui s’en soucient. C’est l’esprit de ce groupe, et ce depuis le premier jour. Nos fans sont la raison pour laquelle nous nous sentons suffisamment confiants pour faire ce grand saut. C’était la prochaine étape logique dans notre trajectoire et nous sommes ravis de leur offrir “Shake the Roots” explique Tyler, “Notre modèle économique est simple : Nous voulons sortir PLUS de musique, donner plus de concerts et nous voulons que nos fans sachent que c’est leur soutien qui va nous motiver”.
Comme le titre l’indique, l’album nous ramène vers les « racines initiales » du groupe lorsque qu’ils étaient totalement imprégnés de blues et de Rock N’Roll.
Le premier morceau, Bare Bones annonce la couleur blues country rock de l’album. Ce titre est toute de suite accrocheur. Les claquements de mains, les voix et les guitares slide sont une invitation de chanter et danser avec eux. La chanson parle de révéler notre véritable esprit et de nous montrer comme nous sommes vraiment.
Dans le même esprit, suit Ain’t None Watered Down, une chanson co-écrite avec Rebecca Lovell (Larkin Poe), l’épouse de Tyler. Un morceau de rock sudiste merveilleusement marécageux avec des guitares fortes et un refrain entrainant.
Les riffs fuzz explosives, la rythmique impeccable et les solos percutants font de Ghostrider un morceau typiquement Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown. Un véritable hymne des stades.
Roots est un morceau autobiographique, très chaleureux et mélodique dans laquelle Tyler parle de ses racines, de son parcours, la découverte de Nashville et la rencontre avec le blues et le Rock N Roll : « Learned to Swim on Muddy Waters, Learned to Walk on Rolling Stones » Une célébration !

Hard Learned est très intimiste, un morceau acoustique émotionnellement chargé. Shackles devoile un énorme riff heavy dans la veine de Black Sabbath et Off the Rails est extrêmement rapide et énergique.
Tennessee est une chanson tendre, impeccablement interprétée qui rend hommage au grand État du même nom où tout semble mieux et où l’inspiration est part tout « Ain’t No place like My Sweet Tennessee » déclare le chanteur.
Sunday No Show remonte la température avec son énorme intro de batterie et sa guitare tranchante pour clôturer l’album toute en beauté avec Midnight Oil, joyeux et rythmé, un titre country blues addictif qui donne envie de danser et de taper du pied.
Tout au long du disque Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown nous embarque dans un tour de montagnes russes entre les chansons explosives et ceux plus calmes et émotionnelles. Le talent et le charisme du Tyler Bryant à la guitare est complété comme d’habitude avec brio par Caleb Crosby qui excelle à la batterie et un Graham Whitford, en grande forme à la guitare.
Shake The Roots est un album solide qui englobe parfaitement la magie de leur l’énergie live. Les riffs sont accrocheurs et les refrains sont formidables. Blues rock chaleureux, direct et efficace. Vintage mais moderne en même temps. L’écriture des chansons est impeccable et les paroles sont personnelles et émouvantes.

Je les ai vu jouer dans des stades, en ouverture de grands noms comme Guns N’ Roses ou AC / DC ou dans de petites salles en guest ou en headliner et je n’ai jamais été déçue.

After their remarkable performance at Hellfest 2022, the news from TYLER BRYANT & THE SHAKEDOWN was not long in coming. In this chilly early autumn, the Nashville band offers us Shake The Roots, a new album composed of 12 warm and powerful blues rock songs, directly inspired by the live energy of the group.
With this 5th album, released on September 9 in digital (the physical release has not yet been announced), the young guitar prodigy, Tyler Bryant (vocals, guitar) and his acolytes: Caleb Crosby (drums) and Graham Whitford (guitar, backing vocals) took off by deciding to create their own label, Rattle Shake Records.
The reason: to have a greater degree of control and ownership over the recording, promotion and release of their music and thus eliminate the barriers that could hinder their ambitions.
“We spend so much time writing and recording, it’s time we start spending more time sharing our art with the people who care,” said Bryant. “That’s the spirit of this band and has been since day one. We’ve built our fan base in such a grass roots way that it only makes sense. They want to support us and OUR collective cause. When I say “our,” I’m including the fans. They are the reason we feel confident enough to make this leap.”
“It was the next logical step in our trajectory and we’re excited to offer them “Shake the Roots,” says Tyler, “Our business model is simple: We want to release MORE music, give more shows and we want our fans to know that it’s their support that’s going to motivate us.”
As the title suggests, the album takes us back to the band’s “original roots” when they were totally imbued with blues and Rock N’Roll.
The first track, Bare Bones announces the blues country rock colour of the album. This title is immediately catchy. The clapping hands, voices and slide guitars are an invitation to sing and dance with them. The song is about revealing our true spirit and showing us how we really are.
In the same spirit follows Ain’t None Watered Down, a song co-written with Rebecca Lovell (Larkin Poe), Tyler’s wife. A wonderfully swampy southern rock piece with strong guitars and a catchy chorus.
Explosive fuzz riffs, impeccable rhythm and hard-hitting solos make Ghostrider a typical Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown track. A real anthem of the stadiums.
Roots is an autobiographical, very warm and melodic piece in which Tyler talks about his roots, his journey, the discovery of Nashville and the encounter with blues music and Rock N Roll “Learned to Swim on Muddy Waters, Learned to Walk on Rolling Stones” A celebration!

Hard Learned is very intimate, an emotionally charged acoustic song. Shackles unveils a huge heavy riff in the vein of Black Sabbath and Off the Rails is extremely fast and energetic.
Tennessee is a tender song impeccably performed that pays tribute to the great state of the same name where everything seems better and where the inspiration is everywhere “Ain’t No place like My Sweet Tennessee” says the singer.
Sunday No Show rises the temperature with its huge drum intro and sharp guitars and to close the album in style, Midnight Oil, joyful and rhythmic, an addictive country blues track that makes you want to dance and tap your foot.
Throughout the record Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown takes us on a roller coaster ride between explosive songs and those slower and more emotional.
The talent and charisma of Tyler Bryant on guitar is complemented as usual brilliantly by Caleb Crosby who excels on drums and a Graham Whitford, in great shape on guitar.
Shake The Roots is a solid album that perfectly encompasses the magic of their live energy, the vintage and the modern sound. The riffs are catchy and the choruses are great. Warm, direct and effective blues rock. The songwriting is impeccable and the lyrics are personal and moving.

The American trio adds a new jewel to the edifice of blues southern rock made in Nashville.
Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown is arguably one of the best blues rock bands of the day with a bright future. We’ll for sure, continue to talk about here.
I’ve seen them play in stadiums, opening for big names like Guns N’ Roses or AC/ DC or in small venues as a guest or a headliner and I’ve never been disappointed.
