Après plusieurs reports à cause de la pandémie, la deuxième édition de MORSURE FESTIVAL s’est enfin déroulée le 10 septembre à La Boule Noire, Paris !
Petit rappel : l’association parisienne MORSURE, composée de quatre fondus de rock, met en valeur et apporte un grand support à la scène « underground » rock française, une scène bouillonnante et créative mais boudée de la plupart des gros médias française et en plus, mise à rude épreuve ces derniers 2 années par le manque de concerts.
Qualité, amitié, entraide, liberté, le tout dans un esprit festif : telles sont les valeurs de MORSURE qui a fêté à l’occasion de cette belle soirée de septembre, ses 4 années d’existence.
Et pour fêter cet anniversaire, 6 jeunes groupes à tendance punk garage incendiaire et engagé, se sont succédés sur les planches de La Boule Noire : WIZARD, Cheap Teen, GURL, SOVOX, Bilabo Kung-Fu et Dealing for Dimes.
On y était et on a assisté à 4 concerts sur 6. Voilà un petit résumé !
On arrive pile au début de set de SoVox. Le public est déjà en forme, prévue que les 2 premiers groupes : Bilabo Kung-Fu et Dealing for Dimes ont bien chauffé l’audience.
SoVox alias Vicenzo (Batterie-Chant), Nathan (Guitare-Chant), Nassim (Basse) présente ce soir son nouvel EP FEROCITY sorti en février 2022. Et justement, féroce et sauvage, le rock de SoVox plait au public qui s’agite dans tous les sens.
Concentré hyper énergique de post punk et grunge aux accents british, le trio de Marseille balance un son brut, puissant et ultra – efficace. On pense à Royal Blood ou White Stripes, mais on pense surtout SLAVES, musicalement et esthétiquement aussi.
Le chanteur- batteur joue debout, torse nu. Il hurle fortement dans son micro et tape hyper fort dans sa batterie ! En réponse : des guitares aux riffs saturés qui se déchainent. Un véritable rouleau compresseur, rythmique infernale ! A Killer show. D’ailleurs une de leur excellent morceau s’appelle « The Killer » ! Ambiance électrique !
On continue la soirée en surfant sur la vague garage rock joyeuse de GURL, le groupe gagnant du tremplin Rock&Folk radio édition 2022 en juillet dernier au Petit Bain, vous vous souvenez ?
Influencé par la nouvelle scène australienne (Skegss), le surf et le garage rock (Dinosaur Jr, Black Lips) et par la première vague punk (Buzzcocks), le groupe nous offre un show rythmé et décontracté.
De bons vibes, des mélodies solaires et insouciantes, Alexis (chant et guitare) et Gabriel (Bass) jouent avec plaisir et transmettent leur énergie communicative au public déjà plus nombreux qui pogotent joyeusement et chantent avec eux sur des chansons enthousiastes comme Friends, Joyful et évidement Hey GURL, extraits de leur premier EP “Garden Party”.
Vers la fin du show, surprise : les membres de Cheap Teen débarquent sur scène pour un portion de pogos déchainés avec leurs amis. (GURL feront la même chose sur le show de Cheap Teen).
Quelques boissons au bar et des conversations joyeuses et c’est le tour de Cheap Teen d’arriver sur scène et dès les premiers accords, on reçoit en plein figure une tornade de riffs frénétiques. Quelle l’énergie incroyable envoie ces 4 garçons originaire de la région parisienne !
Les lumières sont un peu sombres, mais ça ira mieux après les premiers morceaux. Le son est bon.
Un cocktail explosif de noise, grunge et de garage, du rock bruyant et direct est tissé dans des beaux passages instrumentales prog et mélodiques. Leurs compositions sont originales et complexes.
Retenons l’excellent 4 BOYS IN LAKE, un titre énergique avec des passages rock prog hypnotiques ou le fascinant DOWN BY THE CASTLE qui part dans tous le sens : du punk au psychédélique, des longues riffs heavy aux guitares lentes et ensorcelantes.
Le chanteur-guitariste est une boule d’énergie. Il entre en transe à chaque riff. Son jeu est grinçant. Sa voix énervée déverse sa colère sur des chansons ultra énergiques mais il est tout aussi bon sur de de passages au tempo plus calme. On pense beaucoup à Nirvana et Kurt Cobain. Et aussi à Idles.
Ils n’oublieront pas de remercier à Morsure qui est aussi leur label.
Le public est enthousiaste et profite de chaque moment de ce concert endiablé. Il faut vraiment voir CHEAP TEEN sur scène pour comprendre ! Puissance remarquable !
Pour terminer la soirée le trio Post-Hardcore, W!zard rajoute une dernière dose d’adrénaline et de colère énergique à la soirée. Le post- punk garage noisy impitoyable du trio bordelais : guitare, basse et batterie met le feu à la petite scène.
Interprétant de morceaux de leur EP Definitely Unfinished, le trio explosif ne laisse aucun répit au public avec des sonorités féroces et implacable.
Le live est dark et furieux. Les rythmiques imperturbables martèlent sans cesse notre ouïe. La voix est violente, énervé, d’une intensité émotionnelle profonde qui coupe le souffle. Le public pogote absorbé par ce son dense et les lumières aveuglantes.
Un final en apothéose !
On quitte la soirée vers 23h30 mais la fête continue jusqu’au bout de la nuit…Karaoke et DJ au programme.
Grand merci et bravo aux quatre membres de Morsure (Sacha, Béa, Léa et Justine) qui ont mis le paquet et nous ont encore offert une soirée mémorable ! Et Bravo à tous les artistes ! Tout le monde a passé du bon temps : les groupes et le public.

After several postponements due to the pandemic, the second edition of MORSURE FESTIVAL finally took place on September 10 at La Boule Noire, Paris!
Short reminder: the Parisian association MORSURE, composed of four rock passioned people, highlights and brings a great support to the French “underground” rock scene, a bubbling and creative scene but shunned by most of the big French media and in addition, much affected by the lack of concerts during these last pandemic 2 years.
Quality, friendship, mutual aid, freedom and festive spirit: these are the values of MORSURE which celebrated on the occasion of this beautiful evening of September, its 4 years of existence.
And to celebrate this anniversary, 6 young bands with an incendiary and committed garage punk tendency, succeeded each other on the boards of La Boule Noire: W!ZARD, Cheap Teen, GURL, SOVOX, Bilabo Kung-Fu and Dealing for Dimes.
We were there and we could see 4 of 6 bands and here is a the review!
We arrive right at the beginning of SoVox‘s set. The audience is already in shape, this means that the first 2 groups: Bilabo Kung-Fu and Dealing for Dimes have warmed them up.
SoVox aka Vicenzo (Drums-Vocals), Nathan (Guitar-Vocals), Nassim (Bass) presents tonight their new EP, FEROCITY released in February 2022. And precisely, fierce and wild, the rock of SoVox pleases the audience who jumps all way around.
Concentrated hyper energetic post punk and grunge with British accents, the trio of Marseille balances a raw, powerful and ultra-effective sound. We think of Royal Blood or White Stripes, but we think especially SLAVES, musically and aesthetically, too.
The singer-drummer plays standing, shirtless and shaved head. He screams loudly in his microphone and hit hard his drums! In response: guitars with saturated riffs that go wild. A real steamroller, infernal rhythm! A Killer shows. Besides, one of their excellent songs is called “The Killer”! Electric atmosphere!
We continue the evening by surfing on the joyful garage rock wave of GURL, the winners of the Tremplin Rock & Folk radio 2022 edition last July at the Petit Bain, remember?
Influenced by the new Australian scene (Skegss), surf and garage rock (Dinosaur Jr, Black Lips) and the first wave of punk (Buzzcocks), the band offers us a rhythmic and relaxed show.
Good vibes, solar and carefree melodies, Alexis (vocals and guitar) and Gabriel (Bass) play with pleasure and transmit their communicative energy to the already larger audience who happily pogos and sing with them on enthusiastic songs like Friends, Joyful and of course Hey GURL, that we can find first EP “Garden Party“.
Towards the end of the show, surprise: the members of Cheap Teen arrive on stage for a portion of unleashed pogos with their friends. (GURL will do the same on the Cheap Teen show).
Some drinks on bar and some joyful conversations and, it’s CHEAP TEEN ‘s turn to arrive on stage and suddenly we receive in full face a tornado of frenetic riffs. What an incredible energy these 4 boys from the Ile-de-France region send on stage!
The lights are a bit dark, but it will get better after the first few songs. The sound is good. An explosive cocktail grunge and garage, noisy and direct rock woven into beautiful prog and melodic instrumental passages. Their compositions are original and complex.
We keep in mind, the excellent 4 BOYS IN LAKE, an energetic track with hypnotic prog rock passages or the fascinating DOWN BY THE CASTLE that goes in all directions: from punk to psychedelic, from long heavy riffs to slow and bewitching guitars. The singer-guitarist is a ball of energy. He goes into a trance with every riff. His game is squeaky. His angry voice pours his anger on ultra-energetic songs but he is just as good on passages with a calmer tempo. We think a lot about Nirvana and Kurt Cobain. And also, to Idles.
They will not forget to thank MOSURE which is also their label. The audience is enthusiastic and enjoys every moment of this frenzied concert. You really have to see CHEAP TEEN on stage to understand! Remarkable power!
To end the evening the Post-Hardcore trio, W!zard adds a last dose of adrenaline and energetic anger to the evening. The ruthless garage noisy post-punk of the Bordeaux trio: guitar, bass and drums sets the fire to the small stage.
Performing tracks from their EP Definitely Unfinished, the explosive trio leaves no time off to the audience with fierce and relentless sounds.
The live is dark and furious. Imperturbable rhythms constantly hammer our hearing. The voice is violent, angry, of a deep emotional intensity that takes your breath away. The audience pogote absorbed by this dense sound and blinding lights.
A finale in apotheosis!
We leave the evening around 11:30 pm but the party continues until the end of the night… Karaoke and DJ on the program.
