Cette semaine on va faire une petite incursion dans line up de HELLFEST 2024 ! La 17ème édition du célèbre festival dédié aux musique extrêmes se déroulera cette année du jeudi 27 au dimanche 30 juin 2024 sur les terres de Clisson, en Loire – Atlantique. Comme d’habitude, il affiche complet ! Les pass de 4 jours sont épuisées depuis octobre 2023 et les pass 1 jour mises en vente le 13 février sont partis rapidement.

Coté programmation, 200 groupes se produirons sur les 6 scènes du festival : Mainstage 1, Mainstage 2, Temple, Altar, Warzone et Valley. METALLICA, FOO FIGHTERS, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, THE OFFSPRING, MEGADETH, DROPKICK MURPHYS, ROYAL BLOOD, BAD OMENS, BRUCE DICKINSON, NOVA TWINS, SAINT AGNES, SAXON, RIVAL SONS, HEART, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES …la liste de groupes à ne pas manquer est vraiment très longue. BRUCE DICKINSON – Rain On The Graves (Main Stage 2, Samedi , 29 juin)

Le chanteur légendaire au sein groupe tout aussi légendaire, Iron Maiden, BRUCE DICKINSON se produira au festival pour la première fois en tant qu’artiste solo. Il va défendre The Mandrake Project , son nouvel album solo qui sortira le 1^er Mars 2024.

Accompagné par son groupe phénoménal – composé du guitariste Roy Z, du batteur Dave Moreno, de la bassiste Tanya O’Callaghan et du maître des claviers Mistheria, il passera avant par l’Olympia le 26/05/2024 dans le cadre de la leur tournée européenne.

Et très bonne nouvelle pour les fans, 2 séances de dédicace exceptionnelles seront organisées après la sortie de l’album : le 4 Mars à Paris, chez Gibert Joseph et le 5 Mars à la FNAC DE NANTES.

Rain On The Graves, le deuxième extrais The Mandrake Project, est portée par un imposant riff de guitare, des claviers aux allures dramatiques et une voix majestueuse. Inspirée par une visite, un jour de pluie, sur la tombe du poète romantique William Wordsworth dans la région Lake District, au nord-ouest de l’Angleterre, cette chanson aborde la mortalité et le pacte avec le diable que les artistes ont l’impression de passer depuis que Robert Johnson a prouvé qu’il en valait la peine dans les années 30.

While She Sleeps –To The Flowers (Mainstage 2, Vendredi 28 juin)

Le groupe de metalcore britannique, originaire de Sheffield sortira, le 29 mars prochain, de leur nouvel album Self Hell.

Découvrez To The Flowers, un nouvel extrait qui trouve une cohésion dans le chaos. Puisant dans un maelström d’influences en constante ébullition, While She Sleeps mélange allègrement cris et textures vocales plus mélodiques, énergie punk, nappes de synthés, le tout ponctué de ruptures métalliques des plus brutales. “Self Hell” ne fait que renforcer l’image d’un album conçu par un groupe qui ne cesse de repousser ses limites.

Le clip, qui accompagne “To The Flowers” a été créé et tourné par le groupe. Ce véritable court-métrage est à la hauteur de l’intensité de la chanson, avec un réalisme digne de l’atmosphère cinématographique d’un film indépendant.

Fort d’une carrière déjà marquée de plusieurs tentatives audacieuses, avec “Self Hell”, While She Sleeps élargit encore plus son champ d’action, en incorporant à ses compositions de la musique symphonique, du hardcore, du synth-rock et aussi, bien sûr, du metal. Pourtant, à travers tous ces styles, le groupe ne perd jamais de vue sa capacité à créer des hymnes prêts à faire bouger des foules immenses. Un album 100% DIY, enregistré dans leur propre studio, le Six Audio à Sheffield, ainsi qu’aux studios Metropolis à Londres et Treehouse à Chesterfield.

Après une tournée française 2023 ultra blindée, dont un concert mémorable au Bataclan, While She Sleeps s’apprête à revenir en France pour 3 concerts au mois de juin prochain :

THERAPY? – Nowhere (Valley – Dimanche 30 juin)

Pour célébrer le 30e anniversaire de leur album emblématique, Troublegum, THERAPY?, le groupe de métal alternatif nord-irlandais, originaire de Larne  prend la route en  2024 pour une tournée spéciale “Troublegum 30”

La tournée va passer donc par Hellfest France et on aura donc l’occasion d’écouter de titres emblématiques comme Nowhere ou Screamager.

METALLICA  – If Darkness Had a Son (Mainstage1 – Samedi 29juin)

Il y a 2 ans, METALLICA se produisait pour la première fois à Hellfest. Les revoila de retour pour fêter, avec le public du Hellfest, ses 40 ans de concerts en France ! Leur premier concert en France a été le 9 février 1984 à Paris, à l’Espace Balard (en 1ère partie de Venom). Un moment historique, forcément…

KERRY KING – Idle Hands (Mainstage 1 – jeudi 27juin)

KERRY KING, le légendaire guitarise et cofondateur de SLAYER sort son premier album solo From Hell I Rise, disponible le 17 mai 2024. S’il est venu plusieurs fois à  HELLFEST avec SLAYER (qui d’ailleurs nous offert  une belle surprise, il y a quelque jours avec l’annonce de sa reformation pour 2 festivals cet été aux USA), le 27 juin, King viendra donc pour présenter ce nouvel album solo.

Selon King, ses nouvelles compositions s’inspirent de “divers sujets liés aux religions, à la guerre, des choses lourdes, parfois tendance punk, les atmosphères sont sombres, voire effrayantes, le tout joué des vitesses herculéennes”. Et le guitariste d’ajouter “Si vous avez toujours aimé Slayer, quelle que soit la période de notre histoire, il y a forcément quelque chose sur cet album qui vous plaira, que ce soit du punk classique, du punk rapide, du thrash ou tout simplement du heavy metal”.

Rapide, agressif, solide comme un mur en béton armé, “Idle Hands”, premier titre extrait de l’album, va vous couper le souffle… et vous allez en redemander.

Pour réaliser son premier album solo, King a fait appel au batteur Paul Bostaph (Slayer), au bassiste Kyle Sanders (Hellyeah), au guitariste Phil Demmel (ex-Machine Head et au chanteur Mark Osegueda (Death Angel).

BAD OMENS – The Death of Peace of Mind (Mainstage 2, jeudi 27 juin)

J’ai fait la connaissance de BAD OMENS, récemment avec leur album THE DEATH OF PEACE OF MIND, sorti en 2022 et je n’ai pas encore eu l’occasion de les voir sur scène.

Atmosphères sombres et cinématographique, des riffs lourds, des rythmiques percutants, des belles harmonies, le groupe de metalcore mélange avec habilité le gros son avec des ambiances électro et pop rock. Si vous ne connaissait pas le quatuor américain, je vous propose de le découvrir.

MEGADETH – Killing Time (Mainstage 1, jeudi 27 juin)

Dave Mustaine et sa bande est revenu en force avec un 16eme album : The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead ! sorti le 2 septembre 2022 sur Tradecraft / Capitol / Universal Music et depuis ils n’arrêtent pas de tourner.

Un album génial qui ne manque pas d’agressivité et respecte tous les codes Megadeth qui lui ont permis son succès et sa longévité. Le thrash metal rapide et mélodique parfaitement agrémenté des riffs techniques et déchiquetés, des rythmiques imbattables et la voix haineuse, féroce et infaillible de Dave Mustaine. Tous ce qu’on aime.

Et avant de se produire sur la Mainstage1, de HELLFEST, jeudi 24/06 le groupe américain donnera un concert exceptionnel le 19 juin 2024 au Zénith de Paris à La Villette.

HEART – Alone (Mainstage 1, Dimanche 30 Juin)

Ahhh, HEART !!! Quel bonheur ? Leur album Bad Animals sorti en 1987et l’inoubliable Alone tournait en boucle dans me casques à une certaine époque.

Le fabuleux groupe de hard rock américain, le groupe de magnifique sœurs WILSON, Ann (Chant, chœurs) et  Nancy Wilson : Guitares, claviers, chant, chœurs est donc à l’affiche du Hellfest . L’Occasion de se plonger dans leur vaste discographie.  

Mammoth WVH – Another Celebration at the End of the World (MainStage 1 samedi 29 juin)

Mammoth WVH, le groupe du talentueux Wolfgang Van Halen (le fils d’Eddie Van Halen). nous a fait forte impression au Stade de France en ouverture de Metallica et surtout avec son deuxième album “MAMMOTH II” sortie en 2023. 10 morceaux enflammés, directs et extrêmement efficaces, enregistrés sous la direction de Michael “Elvis” Baskette [Alter Bridge, Slash] au fameux 5150 Studio.

Des riffs à couper le souffle, des solos étourdissantes, des mélodies accrocheuses, des rhythmiques à cadence infernale, le chanteur multi-instrumentiste auteur compositeur prouves largement son indéniable talent et sa technique millimétrée irréprochable. Un album hard & heavy rock puissa nt et délicieux d’une remarquable qualité.

Il sera à HELLFEST le samedi 29 juin pour partager de nouveau la scène avec Metallica.

SAINT AGNES – Body Bag feat Mimi Barks (Mainstage 2 – vendredi 28 juin)

Plus besoin de vous présenter gang londonien, j’imagine… on a adoré Bloodsuckers, le deuxième album sorti l’année dernière chez Spinefarm records et on a été ébloui par leur concert à Paris, 6 février 2024, aux Etolies.

Du metal, punk, rock interprété d’une façon frénétique et viscérale, la tornade SAINT AGNES a renversé tout sur son passage à Paris. Les Anglais nous ont infligé une performance live intense, d’une brillante férocité. Un show à couper le souffle interprété avec une passion dévorante.

This week we’re going to make a little round into the HELLFEST 2024 line-up! The 17th edition of the famous festival dedicated to extreme music will take place this year, from Thursday 27 to Sunday 30 June 2024 at Clisson, in Loire-Atlantique, France. As usual, it’s sold out!

The 4-day pass have been sold out since October 2023 and the 1-day pass that went on sale on February 13 have been sold out quickly. 

There will be more than 200 bands who will perform on the 6 stages of the festival: Mainstage 1, Mainstage 2, Temple, Altar, Warzone and Valley. BRUCE DICKINSON – Rain On The Graves (Main Stage 2, Saturday, June 29)

Legendary singer of Iron Maiden, BRUCE DICKINSON will perform at the festival for the first time as a solo artist. He will promote The Mandrake Project, his new solo album which will be released on March 1, 2024. Accompanied by his phenomenal band formed by guitarist Roy Z, drummer Dave Moreno, bassist Tanya O’Callaghan and keyboard master Mistheria, he will first stop by the Olympia – Paris on 26/05/2024 as part of their European tour.

And very good news for the fans, 2 exceptional signing sessions will be organized after the release of the album: on March 4th in Paris, at Gibert Joseph and on March 5th at the FNAC IN NANTES.

Rain On The Graves, The Mandrake Project’s second single, is carried by an imposing guitar riff, dramatic keyboards and a majestic voice. Inspired by a rainy day visit to the grave of Romantic poet William Wordsworth in the Lake District of northwest England, the song is about mortality and the deal with the devil that artists feel like they’ve been making since Robert Johnson proved it worth it in the 1930s.

While She Sleeps –To The Flowers (Mainstage 2, Friday June 28)

The British metalcore band from Sheffield will release their new album, Self Hell, on March 29. Discover To The Flowers, a new single that finds cohesion in chaos. Drawing from a maelstrom of constantly boiling influences, While She Sleeps happily mixes screams and more melodic vocal textures, punk energy, synth layers, all punctuated by the most brutal metallic breaks.

 Self Hell only reinforces the image of an album conceived by a band that never stops pushing its limits. The music video, which accompanies To The Flowers, was created and shot by the band. This true short film lives up to the intensity of the song, with a realism worthy of the cinematic atmosphere of an independent film.

With a career already marked by several daring attempts, with Self Hell, While She Sleeps broadens its field of action even more, incorporating symphonic music, hardcore, synth-rock and also, of course, metal into its compositions. Yet, through all these styles, the band never loses sight of its ability to create anthems ready to move huge crowds.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of their iconic album, Troublegum, THERAPY?, the Northern Irish alternative metal band from Larne are hitting the road in 2024 for a special “Troublegum 30” tour.   The tour will go through Hellfest France and we will have the opportunity to listen to emblematic titles like Nowhere or Screamager.

METALLICA  – If Darkness Had a Son (Mainstage1 – Saturday, June 29)

2 years ago, METALLICA performed for the first time at Hellfest. Here they are again this year to celebrate, with the Hellfest audience, its 40 years of concerts in France! Their first concert in France was on February 9, 1984 in Paris, at the Espace Balard (in 1st part of Venom). A historic moment, of course…

KERRY KING – Idle Hands (Mainstage 1 – jeudi 27juin)

KERRY KING, the legendary guitar player and co-founder of SLAYER releases his first solo album From Hell I Rise, available on May 17, 2024. If he came several times to HELLFEST with SLAYER (who by the way offered us a nice surprise, a few days ago with the announcement of their reunion for 2 festivals this summer in the USA), this time, on June 27th, King will come to present this new solo album. 

According to King, his new compositions are inspired by “various subjects related to religions, war, heavy things, sometimes punk tendencies, the atmospheres are dark, even frightening, all played with herculean speeds”. “If you’ve always loved Slayer, no matter what period of our history we’ve ever had, there’s bound to be something on this album that you’re sure to like, whether it’s classic punk, fast punk, thrash or just heavy metal.”

Fast, aggressive, solid as a reinforced concrete wall, Idle Hands,the first track from the album, will take your breath away… and you’re going to come back for more.  To produce his first solo album, King enlisted the help of drummer Paul Bostaph (Slayer), bassist Kyle Sanders (Hellyeah), guitarist Phil Demmel (ex-Machine Head) and vocalist Mark Osegueda (Death Angel).

BAD OMENS – The Death of Peace of Mind, (Mainstage 2, jeudi 27 juin)

I got to know BAD OMENS, recently with their album THE DEATH OF PEACE OF MIND, released in 2022 and I haven’t had the opportunity to see them live yet.

Dark and cinematic atmospheres, heavy riffs, percussive rhythms, beautiful harmonies, the metalcore band skilfully mixes the big heavy sound with electro and pop rock atmospheres. If you didn’t know the American quartet, I suggest you check it out.

MEGADETH – Killing Time (Mainstage 1, Thursday June 27)

Dave Mustaine and his band are back with a strong 16th album: The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead! released on September 2, 2022 on Tradecraft / Capitol / Universal Music and since then they haven’t stopped touring. A great album that doesn’t lack aggressiveness and respects all the Megadeth codes that have allowed it its success and longevity.

The fast and melodic thrash metal perfectly embellished with the technical and jagged riffs, the unbeatable rhythms and the hateful, fierce and infallible voice of Dave Mustaine. Everything we love. And before performing on the Mainstage1, of HELLFEST, on Thursday 24/06 the American band will give an exceptional concert on June 19, 2024 at the Zénith de Paris in La Villette.

HEART – Alone (Mainstage 1, Dimanche 30 Juin)

Ahhh, HEART !!! What happiness? Their 1987 album Bad Animals and the unforgettable Alone were playing on repeat in my headphones at one time. The fabulous American hard rock band, the band of magnificent sisters WILSON, Ann (vocals, backing vocals) and Nancy Wilson: guitars, keyboards, vocals, backing vocals will play at Hellfest. An opportunity to dive into their vast discography.

Mammoth WVH – Another Celebration at the End of the World (MainStage 1 Saturday June 29 )

Mammoth WVH, the band of the talented Wolfgang Van Halen (Eddie Van Halen’s son). made a strong impression on us at the Stade de France at the opening of Metallica and especially with his second album “MAMMOTH II” released in 2023. 10 direct and extremely effective tracks, recorded under the direction of Michael “Elvis” Baskette [Alter Bridge, Slash] at the famous 5150 Studio.

Breathtaking riffs, dizzying solos, catchy melodies, rhythmics at an infernal cadence, the multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter amply proves his undeniable talent and his irreproachable millimetre technique. A powerful and delicious hard & heavy rock album of remarkable quality.  He will be at HELLFEST on Saturday, June 29th to share the stage with Metallica again.

SAINT AGNES – Body Bag feat Mimi Barks (Mainstage 2 – Friday June 28)

Don’t need to introduce you the gang from London anymore, I guess… we loved Bloodsuckers, the second album released last year on Spinefarm records, and we were dazzled by their concert in Paris, February 6, 2024, at Les Etolies.

Metal, punk, rock performed in a frenetic and visceral way, the SAINT AGNES tornado turned everything in its path in Paris upside down. The English inflicted on us an intense live performance, of brilliant ferocity. A breathtaking show performed with an all-consuming passion. Next stop in France, HELLFEST 2024, Friday, June 28!
