DREAMERS – PALM READER (MCA RECORDS / UNIVERSAL MUSIC FRANCE)
Le trio new-yorkais DREAMERS a sorti le 5 Mars leur Nouvel EP « PALM READER » un excellent cocktail de pop, rock, électro, grunge et 70’s.
Depuis leurs débuts en 2014, le frontman Nick Wold, le bassiste / claviériste Marc Nelson et le batteur Jacob Lee Wick semblent gagner du terrain à chacune de leurs apparitions.
Dans leur courte carrière les DREAMERS ont déjà connu de nombreux moments forts. Ainsi, après avoir eu l’immense honneur de faire les premières parties de la tournée américaine de Stone Temple Pilots en 2015, le groupe s’est fait remarquer au Meadows Music & Arts Festival aux côtés de Jay-Z et Gorillaz. Rien que ça !
Palm Reader est un véritable concentré de refrains catchy ultra dansantes!
Du travail acharné, de la créativité et de l’espoir sont les caractéristiques au cœur de DREAMERS, un projet né du rêve apparemment impossible du frontman Nick Wold de devenir une star du rock.
Apres 2 albums This Album Does Not Exist en 2016 et Launch Fly Land en 2019 et plusieurs EPs salués par la critique, le trio très stylé revient donc avec ce nouvel EP, un véritable concentré de refrains catchy ultra dansantes.
Le morceau titre « Palm Reader » est une fusion joyeuse et optimiste des sonorités pop- rock électro qui a bénéficié de la collaboration avec légendaire rappeur Big Boi d’Outkast et aussi de celle de l’auteur-compositeur-interprète émergent UPSAHL. A force de l’écouter cela devient addictif.
Pour les autres chansons tout aussi très réussis et efficaces, le groupe a fait appel à plusieurs guests Still Not Dead (featuring American Teeth et Wes Period), True Crime featuring DeathByRomy ou Heat Seeker (ft.Grandson).

THE BLUE STONES – Hidden Gems (label eOne.)
On continue dans le registre blues rock alternatif très énergique avec THE BLUE STONES.
Après plusieurs singles présentés dernièrement, dont l’excellent Shakin’Off The Rust, le duo Canadian- Tarek Jafar (Chanteur, Guitariste) et Justin Tessier (Batterie, chœurs) dévoile enfin leur deuxième très attendu album, Hidden Gems disponible sur le label eOne.
Avec un mélange savoureux de Rock N’Roll, de RNB, de blues et de grunge, THE BLUE STONES nous entraine dans leur univers explosif à travers 10 chansons très efficaces qui possèdent de mélodies super addictives.
Hidden Gems porte bien son nom. Un précieux joyaux à écouter en boucle.
Des guitares punchy, des refrains accrocheurs et des rythmes tournoyantes sur des morceaux comme Shakin’Off The Rust, Let It Ride ou Spirit risquent de s’imprégner pour longtemps dans nos têtes.
Dans un registre plus groovy One by One, Careless ou LA Aftrelife nous porterons vers un autre paysage sonique, plus sensuel, totalement captivant.
Pour ce nouveau long format, le tandem a travaillé avec le célèbre producteur Paul Meany (Mutemath, Twenty One Pilots, LAN) qui les a aidés à explorer des nouvelles sonorités et créer la musique d’une nouvelle façon, l’occasion pour eux de redéfinir leur process d’écriture.
Cette évolution personnelle et musicale les a conduits vers des paroles plus honnêtes, s’appuyant sur l’acceptation de ses forces et de ses faiblesses. Il est donc question de ruptures amoureuses mais aussi de remises en question, face à nos mauvaises habitudes.
Avec Hidden Gems, Tarek et Justin ont réussi à donner une autre dimension à leur créativité, tout en parvenant à garder intacte leur identité. Hidden Gems, porte bien son nom. Un précieux joyaux à écouter en boucle.

Dead Poet Society – “ ! “ (Prononcez ‘The exclamation album’)
Surprenant, c’est le mot qui me vient toute de suite quand je pense à Dead Poet Society.
Et non, je ne parle pas du fameux film Dead Poet Society (Le cercle des Poètes Disparus)primé aux Oscars (meilleur scenario original en 1990), mais d’un groupe rock formé en 2015 au Berklee College à Boston.
Toutefois je dirais, il y a bien un point commun entre le film et le quatuor American (désormais basé à LA) : le refus du conformisme. Car Jack Underkofler — chant / guitare, Jack Collins — guitars, Will Goodroad — batterie, Dylan Brenner — basse ont sorti en février dernier via Spinefarm Records/Universal un premier album, pas comme les autres.
Déjà le nom de l’album « ! » (Prononcez The Exclamation Album) nous étonne ! Qu’est-ce que ça veut bien dire ? Un autre indice : la liste de chansons affiche pleine de signes de ponctuations, des lettres majuscules et minuscules, des titres des chansons hors de commun.
DEAD POET SOCIETY ne vous laissera certainement pas indifférent!
Et puis si vous écoutez l’album en entier, vous allez certainement comprendre que Dead Poet Society ne peut pas être casé dans un style bien particulier. C’est surement ce que ce jeune groupe a eu l’intention de faire – brouiller les pistes et c’est plutôt réussi.
L’album commence avec un morceau parlé « ! » suivi d’un titre instrumental . futureofwar. très heavy qui nous donnera l’impression qu’on a à faire un disque de métal. Mais on change d’avis avec les titres suivants .burrymewhole. et .getawayfortheweekend. qui ont plutôt une vibe Rock N’ Roll à la White Stripes.
Le groupe slalome avec aisance entre le pop, le rock, le stoner et le métal. On ne s’ennuie pas. Il y a de morceaux très heavy avec des guitares bien rugueuses et furieuses, il y a des ballades séduisantes, des refrains captivants et même 3 morceaux juste parlés dont –gopi– l’enregistrement d’une voix féminine qui donne son avis sur la musique du groupe…
.CoDA. et .SALT. sont excellents, surement mes préfèrés de l’album, auxquelles je rajouterais I Never Loved Myself Like I Loved You une magnifique ballade pleine d’émotion, le seul titre appelé d’une manière traditionnelle et aussi l’atmosphérique et très minimaliste .Haunted. Les morceaux parlent d’anxiété, de la confiance en soi même, des relations toxiques. Et ce qui est le plus marquant c’est la voix superbe de Jack Underkofler capable d’aller avec dans tous les registres avec une grande facilité.
Certes, Dead Poet Society ont voulu surprendre avec ce premier album mais ce qu’ils ont voulu surtout faire, c’est montrer leur talent et leur potentiel illimité.
Si vous appréciez Cleopatrick, Badflower, Des Rocs, Muse, Queen Of The Stone Age, Jack White, Royal Blood, Highly Suspect…DEAD POET SOCIETY ne vous laissera certainement pas indifférent.

NO TERROR IN THE BANG – Eclosion (Label : M&O Music)
Bienvenue dans l’univers du métal cinématographique de NO TERROR IN THE BANG. On vous a déjà présenté ici leur single Uncanny, on attendait donc avec impatience la sortie de leur premier album Eclosion, le 5 mars 2021 sur le label M&O.
Le groupe français de Métal Alternatif & Immersif a été fondé par Alexis Damien (Composition, batterie, production) et Sofia Bortoluzzi (Chant, composition, paroles), à Rouen, en mars 2019. Ils ont été rapidement rejoints par Romain Greffe (Claviers & Piano), Brice Bouchard (Basse & Contrebasse), Etienne Cochin (Guitare), Clément Bernard (Guitare).
Eclosion est l’Album PARFAIT!
Eclosion s’ouvre tout en douceur avec le mélancolique Saule Pleureur. On entre déjà dans une ambiance cinématographique grâce à des magnifiques accords de piano qui accompagnent la superbe voix de Sofia Bortoluzzi. On soupçonne le calme avant la tempête et on a bien raison car rapidement, on bascule dans du son très lourd avec Another Kind Of Violence, qui mixe une rhythmique tourbillonnante avec des guitares agressives et une voix qui monte en puissance petit à petit pour atteindre un growl enragé.
Avec les 2 prochain morceaux : No More Helpful Peace Part 1 et Part 2 on navigue avec subtilité entre des univers sombres et tourmentés et ceux calmes et fragiles, entre de hurlements agressifs et les chants clairs apaisants.
Micromegas nous plonge dans une ambiance brumeuse avec un chant rappé accompagné par des guitares ravageuses, tout en sublimant des accords suaves de piano. Poison nous mène dans un univers ténébreux avec une voix maléfique. Insight à l’air d’une romance superbe avant d’être bousculés par de riffs puissants et une voix explosive. Memory of a Wait, Pt 1 et 2 qui donnent simplement des frissons.
Vous avez compris : La dimension cinématographique est bien illustrée. L’album ressemble à la bande originale d’un thriller avec de nombreux rebondissements. Comme dans un film de Hitchcock (le nom du groupe fait d’ailleurs référence à une d’une citation du maitre du suspense : There is no terror in the Bang, only the anticipation of it) la fin est couronnée par le magnifique Broken Mind, un morceau assez sombre avec un chant déconcertant qui pourra nous faire penser à une fin tragique.
Eclosion est un album d’une richesse formidable. La construction de l’album est excellente. A chaque fois la transition entre les chansons est remarquable. Les sonorités frénétiques et furieuses alternent avec les mélodies suaves. Les guitares agressives sont interrompues par des violons et des accords de piano mystérieux. Le rock énervé alterne avec les musiques classiques, le hip hop ou le jazz. Et le chant est hypnotisant. Les capacités vocales de Sofia Bortoluzzi sont tout à fait impressionnantes.
Eclosion est l’Album PARFAIT ! Une véritable éclosion d’un groupe dans lequel la créativité et le talent règnent ! ET pour ressentir pleinement toutes les émotions qu’Eclosion procure, il faut mieux l’écouter en entier. Toute de suite !

The New York trio DREAMERS released their New EP “PALM READER” on March 5th, an excellent cocktail of pop, rock, electro, grunge and 70’s. Since their debut in 2014, the frontman Nick Wold, the bassist/keyboardist Marc Nelson and the drummer Jacob Lee Wick become more and more popular.
In their young career’s they have already experienced many highlights. After having the great honour of opening for Stone Temple Pilots’ American tour in 2015, the band made a name for themselves at the Meadows Music and Arts Festival alongside Jay-Z and Gorillaz.

Hard workers, huge creativity and a lot of hope characterized DREAMERS, a project born out of frontman Nick Wold’s seemingly impossible dream of becoming a rock star. After 2 albums This Album Does Not Exist in 2016 and Launch Fly Land in 2019 and several critically acclaimed EPs, the very stylish trio returns with this new EP, a big concentration of catchy ultra-dancing choruses.
The title track “Palm Reader” is a wonderful upbeat fusion of electro pop-rock sounds that benefited of the collaboration with legendary rapper Big Boi of Outkast and also that of the emerging singer and songwriter UPSAHL. An addictive track to listen over and over again.
For the other excellent songs, the band inviteed several guests: Still Not Dead featuring American Teeth and Wes Period, True Crime featuring DeathByRomy or Heat Seeker (ft. Grandson).

Dead Poet Society – “ ! “ (read ‘The exclamation album’)
Surprising, that’s the word that comes to me right away when I think of Dead Poet Society. And no, I’m not talking about the Oscar-winner movie, Dead Poet Society (best original screenplay in 1990), but about a rock band formed in 2015 at Berklee College in Boston.
However, I would say, there is one thing in common between the film and the American quartet (now based in LA): the rejection of conformism. Because Jack Underkofler — vocals/guitar, Jack Collins — guitars, Will Goodroad — drums, Dylan Brenner — bass released an amazing debut album last February via Spinefarm Records/Universal. An album like no other!
Already the name of the album “!” (Pronounce “The Exclamation Album”) amazes us! What does that mean? Another clue: the list of songs displays full of punctuation marks, capital letters and tiny, strange song names. And then if you listen to the whole album, you’ll certainly understand that Dead Poet Society cannot be stuck in a very particular style. That’s probably what this young band intended to do – confusing us – and it’s pretty successful.
Dead Poet Society impress with their talent and their unlimited potential.
The album starts with a spoken song «!» followed by an instrumental track. futureofwar. very heavy one that will give us the impression that we have here a heavy metal record . But the following songs burrymewhole. and .getawayfortheweekend. change our mind as we rather discover a Rock N’ Roll vibe like the White Stripes.
The band slaloms with ability between pop, rock, stoner and metal. We don’t get bored. There are heavy tracks with rough and furious guitars, there are seductive ballads, captivating choruses and even 3 just spoken songs including –gopi- the recording of a female voice that gives her opinion on the band’s music …
.CoDA. and.Salt. are stunning, probably my favourites of the album, to which I would add I Never Myself Like I Loved You a beautiful ballad full of emotion, the only song called in a traditional way and also the atmospheric and minimalist. Haunted. The songs talk about anxiety, self-confidence, toxic relationships. And what is most awesome is the superb voice of Jack Underkofler, able to attack easily any vocal style.
Certainly, Dead Poet Society wanted to surprise with this debut album but what they wanted above all to do is show their talent and their unlimited potential.
If you like Cleopatrick, Badflower, Des Rocs, Muse, Queen Of The Stone Age, Jack White, Royal Blood, Highly Suspect… DEAD POET SOCIETY will certainly not leave you indifferent!

Welcome to the cinematic metal world of NO TERROR IN THE BANG. We’ve already introduced here their single Uncanny, so we were looking forward to the release of their first album Eclosion, on March 5, 2021 on the label M-O.
The French Alternative Metal band was founded by Alexis Damien (Composition, Drums, Production) and Sofia Bortoluzzi (Song, Composition, Lyrics), in Rouen, in March 2019. They were quickly joined by Romain Greffe (keys – Piano), Brice Bouchard (Bass – DoubleBass), Etienne Cochin (Guitar), Clément Bernard (Guitar).
Eclosion is the PERFECT album!
Eclosion opens gently with the melancholic Saule Pleureur We are already into a cinematic atmosphere thanks to beautiful piano chords that accompany the superb voice of Sofia Bortoluzzi. We suspect the calm before the storm and we are right because quickly, we switch into very heavy sound with Another Kind Of Violence, that mixes a swirling rhythm with aggressive guitars and a voice that gradually rises in power to reach a great growl.
With the next 2 tracks: No Helpful More Peace Part 1 and Part 2 we navigate with subtlety between dark and tormented universes and those calm and fragile, between aggressive howls and clear soothing vocals.
Micromegas dives us in a foggy atmosphere with a rapped vocal accompanied by devastating guitars, while sublimating suave piano chords. Poison leads us into a dark universe with an evil voice. Insight sound like a superb romance before being jostled by powerful riffs and an explosive voice.
Memory of a Wait, Pt 1 and 2 just give shivers. You understand: The cinematic dimension is well illustrated. The album sound like the soundtrack of a thriller with many twists and turns. As in a Hitchcock film (the band’s name in inspired by a quote of the master of suspense: There is no terror in the Bang, only the anticipation of it) the ending is crowned by the magnificent Broken Mind, a rather dark song with a disconcerting vocal that may make us think of a tragic ending.
Eclosion is an album of tremendous richness. The construction of the album is excellent. Each time the transition between the songs is outstanding. The frenetic and furious sounds alternate with the sweet melodies. Aggressive guitars are interrupted by mysterious violins and piano chords. Edgy rock alternates with classical music, hip hop or jazz. And the singing is mesmerizing. Sofia Bortoluzzi’s vocal abilities are quite impressive.
Eclosion is the PERFECT album! A true eclosion of a d with huge creativity and talent! AND to fully feel all the emotions that Eclosion provides, better listen to it like a whole. From beginning to the end! Right now!
