Ça y est, c’est la traditionnelle rentrée ! Les vacances feel good et le far niente aux oubliettes ! Tout le monde est de retour et se retrouve nez à nez avec une rentrée un peu bizarre, bien différente… 100% masquée et pleine d’incertitude !
La Covid 19 a brusquement changé nos habitudes : des expos virtuelles, des concerts en streaming, des fashion week virtuelles, des soirées Netflix … est-ce qu’on va continuer dans le même style ou on va reprendre doucement les bonnes vieilles habitudes ? Est-ce qu’on retourner dans les salles de spectacles, se défouler devant un concert, courir les musées et les expos ? Rien n’est sûr…
Masques, distanciation sociale, stress…franchement, on n’a pas trop envie de faire de plans, surtout culturelles. La majorité des concerts ont été reportés pour 2021 et pour ceux qui sont encore maintenus, c’est l’imprévisible …
Mais ce qui nous met de bonne humeur, ce sont tous ces artistes plus motivés que jamais qui ont continué à écrire de la bonne musique, sortir des disques et des vidéos, annoncer des nouveaux projets…

Nous avons parlé de JJ Wilde et de « Ruthless », son premier album en Juillet, voilà que la sulfureuse canadienne a lancé une nouvelle chanson et un nouveau clip : Best Boy
Best Boy est une ode puissante sur des riffs-lourds qui parle de la liberté de chacun de s’exprimer. Dans le vidéo clip on retrouve la rockeuse et un casting coloré d’amis qui danse en sous-vêtements dans leur chambres…
Voici JJ dis sur la chanson : « Pour moi, cette chanson est d’essayer de changer l’idée que la société a accepté sur les femmes. Il est clair, surtout dans l’industrie de la musique que les femmes sont considérées la plupart du temps plus comme des objets que comme des humains. Eh bien, je veux que cela change – : ce que les femmes « devraient et ne devraient pas faire », ce que la société juge acceptable, ce de quoi les femmes devraient avoir honte. Nous sommes de belles créatures. Et je ne pense pas que nous devrions avoir honte d’exprimer cela
Et voici JJ sur la vidéo : « Le clip de « Best Boy » a été stimulant à filmer. Je voulais que des gens différents s’expriment librement quand ils entendent la chanson, et essayer de capturer ce sentiment. Pour moi, c’était vraiment spécial. La veille de du tournage, j’avais la frousse, en me disant : « Et si je me sexualise trop, et si les gens ne me prennent pas au sérieux ? » Toutes ces pensées m’ont traversé l’esprit. Puis quand nous avons commencé à tourner, je me sentais tellement forte, je m’amusais tellement et je n’ai jamais eu honte de ce que je faisais. Et ce sentiment est exactement ce que je veux que les gens — surtout les femmes — ressentent quand ils le regardent. Il n’y a aucune raison pour que j’aie eu ce doute de moi-même passer par mon esprit, mais c’est arrivé. Et c’est ce que je veux changer. Personne ne devrait avoir honte de s’exprimer »
10 YEARS -The Shift

JJ WILDE – Best Boy
We talked about JJ Wilde and “Ruthless“, her first album in July, now the Canadian has launched a new song and a new music video: Best Boy.
“Best Boy” is a fuzzy and riff-heavy ode to everyone’s freedom to express themselves. With a music video that finds the rocker and a colorful cast of friends taking “dancing around your room in your underwear” to the next level, fans will still hear the gritty, strong sense of melody that marked JJ’s debut LP from this past June, Ruthless, and her record-breaking single “The Rush.” This time, the production is even more razor-sharp, the stakes feel bigger, and the empowered IDGAF attitude is amplified.
Here’s JJ on the song:
“For me, this song is about trying to change the narrative that society has accepted about women. It is clear, especially in the music industry that women are viewed more like objects a lot of the time than actual humans — seen not heard type of thing. Well, I want that to change – what women “should and shouldn’t do”, what society deems acceptable, what women are shamed for. All of the above. We are beautiful creatures. And I don’t think we should feel ashamed to express that. This song is taking a stab at what men have always been free to talk about in songs — doing whatever they want with whoever they want — but from a woman’s perspective.”

“The music video for “Best Boy” was so empowering to film. I wanted all kinds of different people expressing themselves and being free when they heard the song, and try to capture that feeling. For me, it was really special. The night before we shot, I had cold feet, thinking “what if I over sexualize myself, what if people don’t take me seriously?” All of those thoughts crossed my mind. Then when we started shooting, I felt so empowered, I was having so much fun and never felt ashamed of what I was doing. And that feeling is exactly what I want people — especially women — to feel when they watch it. There is no reason for me to have had that self-doubt go through my mind, but it did. And that is what I want to change. No one should feel ashamed of self-expression.”

Faced with sudden doubts about her marriage, a young New York mother (Jones) teams up with her playboy father (Murray) to follow her husband (Wayans) in this bittersweet comedy that will be released in theaters and on Apple TV in October.
In addition to contributing to the song Identical, which appears in the film’s closing credits, PHOENIX provided musical supervision of On The Rocks and composed the score. This is their fifth film collaboration with Sofia Coppola, which began with the title Too Young which appeared in the soundtrack of the film Lost In Translation.
The band shared a video of the track directed by Roman Coppola, who has already made videos for several of their songs, Funky Squaredance, Long Distance Call and Everything Is Everything. Joe Bonamassa has announced the release of Royal Tea’s new studio album which will be available on October 23, 2020. This record was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London. Three tracks are already available online: Why Does It Take So Long To Say Goodbye, When One Door Opens, A Conversation with Alice.
In addition, on Sunday, September 20, 2020, Joe Bonamassa will perform a live concert on Internet, during when he will play for the first time, several songs from this new album! This exceptional performance will be broadcast from The Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.

Finally, the complete comics WELCOME TO HELL (fest) is released in bookstores. This one brings together the 3 volumes published (of which 2 are sold out) – several dozen unpublished pages, new prefaces and a graphic booklet that tell 8 editions of the festival.
WELCOME TO HELL (fest) is the Hellfest narrated in comic strips by journalist Sofie von Kelen and cartoonist Johann Guyot. They reveal their adventures as festival-goers but also offer testimonials from musicians, reviews of the best concerts as well as the careers of certain bands as well as sketches made on site and large illustrations.
