Artistes à decouvrir en Septembre
THE FAIM – State of Mind (Album)– sortie le 13/09/2019
Le premier album des australiens de The Faim, State of Mind, résume presque quatre ans de carrière avec de vieux succès comme Infamous ou Summer Is a Curse » et des nouveautés comme Humans. Des mélodies catchy et lumineuses – Beautiful Drama ou State of Mind, des titres débordants d’émotion et de sincérité –Amelie ou Where the river runs à découvrir avant de venir les voir en concert, car cet automne ils passeront en France à Toulouse (Rex) le 24 Novembre et à Paris le 25 Novembre (La Maroquinerie). D’ailleurs nous avons déjà parlé ici de ce groupe en pleine ascension et récemment j’ai discuté avec Sam Tye, le guitariste. Plus d’info sur cet excellent premier album bientôt.
LOVE FAME TRAGEDY – “I Don’t Want To Play The Victim, But I’m Really Good At It”(EP) sortie le 27/09/2019
Matthew “Murph” Murphy, le chanteur principal et guitariste du trio indie-pop The Wombats présentera en Septembre son premier projet solo, Love Fame Tragedy.
Portée par le joyeux single My Cheating Heart, l’EP enregistré entre Londres et Los Angeles en collaboration avec toute une panoplie de musiciens dévoile des morceaux catchy et très énergiques, avec des riffs et des synthés saturés, une voix accrocheuse et des jolies mélodies qui s’inscrivent dans la lignée de morceaux intelligentes et dynamiques de Wombats.
Notons que le nom de Love Fame Tragedy est un hommage à une exposition de Pablo Picasso au Tate Modern et que Murph est rejoint par une variété d’amis et collaborateurs comme Joey Santiago des Pixies, Gus Unger-Hamiltond’ Alt-J, ainsi que Maddi Jean Waterhouse, mannequin, chanteuse et ex-membre de Soundgarden et enfin le batteur de Pearl Jam, Matt Chamberlain. Après quelques concerts en Europe il partira en tournée autour des Etats-Unis et en Australie durant les mois de septembre et d’octobre. Espérons le voir en France bientôt.
BETH HART – War in my Mind le 27 septembre 2019
La sublime chanteuse de blues rock jazz sortira un nouvel album War in my Mind. Produit par Rob Cavallo (Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Dave Matthews Band, Goo Goo Dolls) il révèle Beth Hart au sommet de son génie créatif. En attendant, le single Bad Woman Blues est tout simplement renversant.
Deux concerts exceptionnels sont prévus à L’Olympia Paris le 29 février et le 1er mars et un à l’Arcadium de Annecy, le 27 février 2020. Des concerts à réserver bien en avance car on le sait, tous ses concerts en France affichent complet.
Et une autre bonne nouvelle pour les fans, le 30 novembre 2019 est prévue la sortie en Double CD, double vinyle, DVD, Blue-ray & digital des 23 titres captés dans la plus prestigieuse Royal Albert Hall des salles londonienne !

FURMAN – Twelve Nudes – sortie 30 aout 2019
Ezra Furman sort un nouvel album après le succès de Transangelic Exodus et la BO de la série Netflix Sex Education. Nouveau projet punk rock brut et spirituel du chanteur au look androgyne (Brian Molko où es-tu ?), Twelve Nudes est mixé par le célèbre producteur John Congleton (Sharon Van Etten, St. Vincent) et puise son inspiration de deux artistes, l’ancien punk Jay Reatard et l’autrice/philosophe Anne Carson. A travers ce nouvel album, Ezra prouve une fois de plus son grand talent et sa force créative et incendiaire. Avec les esprits de David Bowie et de Marc Bolan planant sur sa musique, le chanteur, guitariste et compositeur cite comme inspiration Dylan, Springsteen ou Lou Reed. Des sujets variées, politiques ou identitaires, l’artiste s’impose avec sa personnalité hors pair. Il suffit d’écouter la sensuelle I wanna be your girl friend , la superbe Trauma oul’abrasive Thermometer et vous allez adorer.

MNNQNS – Body Negative – sortie le 13 septembre sur les plateformes de streaming et le 11 octobre en version physique.
Après deux EP, MNNQNS « les Mannequins » sort en fin leur premier album Body Negative. Energique, énervé et very Noisy, l’album reste fidèle à leur style indéniable. Entre les bouillonnantes NotWhatyouthougtyouKnew, Urinals et Wire (Down To The) avec du punk rock furieux et élégant, riffs énergisants et batterie tumultueuse ou Limits of town et Desperation Moon etleurs belles mélodies, on n’a vraiment pas le temps de reprendre son souffle. On n’attendait pas moins de leur part. Une bonne dose de rock et beaucoup de classe made in Rouen. En tournée dans toute la France à partir de fin septembre – Paris, 3 octobre. Venez les voir !
LAST TRAIN –The Big Picture (Album) – sortie 13 Septembre 2019
Les quatre garçons de Last Train reviennent enfin avec un second album The Big Picture. Un excellent album porté par le titre éponyme – qui dure pas moins de 10min 33sec, un titre épique, très Led Zeppelin-esque. Un video clip conçu comme un parcours nostalgique de leur carrière, réalisé par le guitarise du groupe Julien Peultier, accompagne ce morceau magistral.
L’album, The Big Picture, se partage entre des titres mélancoliques “The idea of someone” (accompagné aussi par une vidéo epurée en noir et blanc), On Our Knees ou Tired since 1994, et des morceaux plus énergique et brutes comme Disappointed ou Right where we belong. Les guitares sont magnifiques, la voix est douce, puissante et bien maitrisé, la section rythmique est impec. On rencontre aussi des magnifiques passages orchestraux et du piano. Un album intense. Du vrai bon rock à passer en boucle. Seul regret – qu’il y que dix titres. Ou aura aimé plus.
Last Train sera en tournée jusqu’à la fin de l’année dans toute la France. Le groupe jouera au Trianon à Paris le 6 novembre.

THE FAIM – State of Mind (Album) – release September, 13th 2019
The Australians’ debut album, State of Mind, sums up almost four years of career with old hits like Infamous or Summer Is a Curse and with new releases like Humans. Catchy and bright melodies like Beautiful Drama or State of Mind, songs full of emotion and sincerity like Where the river runs, that you canto discover before coming to see them in concert. This autumn they will pass in France in Toulouse (Rex) on November, 24 and in Paris on November, 25 (La Maroquinerie ). Matthew “Murph” Murphy, the lead singer and guitarist of the indie-pop trio The Wombats will present his first solo project, Love Fame Tragedy, in September. Carried by the joyfull single My Cheating Heart, the EP recorded between London and Los Angeles in collaboration with a whole host of musicians reveals catchy and very energetic songs, with saturated riffs and synths, a lovely voice and pretty melodies that follow in the footsteps of Wombats’ intelligent and dynamic songs.
Note that the name Love Fame Tragedy is a tribute to an exhibition by Pablo Picasso at the Tate Modern and that Murph is joined by a lot of friends and collaborators like Joey Santiago of the Pixies, Gus Unger-Hamiltond’ Alt-J, as well as Maddi Jean Waterhouse, model, singer and former Soundgarden member and Pearl Jam’s drummer Matt Chamberlain. After a few concerts in Europe he will tour around the United States and Australia during the months of September and October. Let’s hope to see him in France soon.
BETH HART – War in my Mind – release September 27, 2019
The sublime jazz blues rock singer, BETH HART, will release a new album War in my Mind. Produced by Rob Cavallo (Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Dave Matthews Band, Goo Goo Dolls) it reveals Beth Hart at the height of her creative genius.
Two exceptional shows are scheduled at L’Olympia, Paris on February 29 and March 1 and one at the Arcadium in Annecy on February 27, 2020. Concerts to book well in advance because as we know, all her concerts in France are sold out. And another good news for fans, November 30, 2019 is planned the release in Double CD, double vinyl, DVD, Blue-ray – digital of the 23 titles captured in the most prestigious venue, Royal Albert Hall in London!
Meanwhile, the single Bad Woman Blues is simply stunning.

After two EPs, MNNQNS “The Mannequins” released their first album Body Negative. Energetic, edgy and very Noisy, the album remains true to their undeniable style. Between the bubbling NotWhatyouthougtyouKnew, Urinals and Wire (Down To The) with furious and elegant punk rock, energizing riffs and tumultuous drums or Limits of town and Desperation Moon and their beautiful melodies, we really don’t have time to breath. We expected no less from them. A good dose of rock and a lot of class made in Rouen. On tour all over France starting the end of September – Paris, October 3. Come and see them.
LAST TRAIN – The Big Picture (Album) – release September, 13th 2019
The four French boys of LAST TRAIN are finally back with a second album The Big Picture. An excellent album carried by the eponymous title – which lasts no less than 10min 32sec. An epic and very Led Zeppelin-esque song. A video clip conceived as a nostalgic journey of their career, directed by the guitarist, Julien Peultier, accompanies this masterful song.
The album is divided between melancholic tracks “The idea of someone” (also accompanied by a minimalist beautiful black and white video), On Our Knees or Tired since 1994, and more energetic and raw tracks like Disappointed or Right where we Belong. The guitars are beautiful, the voice is soft, powerful and well mastered, the rhythm section is impeccable. There are also magnificent orchestral parts and lovely piano lines. An intense album. Real great Rock N’ Roll to listen to on repeat. The only regret – that there are only ten songs. We would have loved more. Last Train will be touring until the end of the year throughout France. The band will play at the Trianon in Paris on November, 6th.
