Des guitares enivrantes, des belles harmonies obsédantes, de gros refrains et des rythmiques énergiques, ELECTRIC PYRAMID mélange avec brio le classic rock d’inspiration 70’s et les sonorités modernes et accrocheuses.

Le groupe au line-up international mené par Ol Beach se prépare à sortir un deuxième album intitulé LION, une collection de chansons résolument rock, atmosphériques et lumineuses qui dégagent de l’optimisme et de la joie de vivre. Un vrai délice dans ce monde de plus en plus tourmenté.

Si nous avons pu découvrir ELECTRIC PYRAMID live, en première partie du spectacle « Queen Extravaganza» grâce à 16 dates à travers toute la France (regardez le mini documentaire) le groupe sera de retour en France, en tête d’affiche, le 23 mai 2025, jour de la sortie internationale officielle de l’album, au Café de la Danse à Paris.

Lors de son passage à Paris en mars dernier, j’ai eu le grand plaisir de rencontrer Ol Beach et nous avons discuté du groupe, de l’album, de ses inspirations, de QUEEN et de sa foi en l’humanité. Rencontre avec un Rockeur optimiste !

Vous tournez en France avec Queen Extravaganza. Comment est-ce que vous avez été choisi pour ouvrir cet événement ?

Ol : On a eu beaucoup de chance. Juste après avoir signé avec Vivienne Music, il se trouve que notre agent, qui  est le même que celui de Queen Extravaganza, a pensé qu’il serait intéressant de nous mettre en première partie de ce spectacle, afin de jouer devant un public plus large en France. C’est son idée et nous sommes très contents des retombées.

Est-ce que tu pourras nous présenter ELECTRIC PYRAMID en quelques mots ?

Ol : On est 7 personnes sur scène incluant deux guitares et deux choristes. ELECTRIC PYRAMID c’est l’énergie de la musique rock avec un esprit un peu romantique sur la vie et beaucoup l’espoir pour l’humanité. Nous éprouvons beaucoup de plaisir à jouer ensemble. On est un grand groupe d’amis qui joue ensemble, c’est donc l’énergie des amis, de la famille et de la fraternité.

D’où vient le nom ELECTRIC PYRAMID ?

Ol : L’idée vient d’un podcast dans lequel on disait que les pyramides sont en fait des diapasons pour aligner le monde et on a trouvé le concept intéressant. On essaie de faire de la musique pour le bien.

Votre deuxième album LION sort le 23 mai 2025.  Comment s’est passé l’écriture ?

Ol : Tout le monde dans le groupe écrit et les morceaux sont venus différemment.

Il y a des chansons qui sont écrits principalement par une personne et après on échange dessous. Et pour beaucoup de chansons, on vient tous avec des idées dans le studio. On joue avec ces idées, on les mélange, et puis petit à petit, il y a quelque chose qui arrive. Chaque morceau a son histoire.

Dans ce monde tourmenté, votre musique dégage beaucoup d’optimisme. C’est la joie de vivre. Qu’est-ce qui t’inspire pour tes chansons ?

Ol : l’inspiration est justement l’optimisme. Je suis optimiste. Je crois qu’on peut croire plus en nous-mêmes et que l’humanité est en général quelque chose de positif.  L’idée principale est de croire qu’on est mieux ensemble et qu’on n’est pas aussi divisé qu’on pense.

Oui, en ce moment, c’est difficile et on a l’impression qu’on est très séparés, mais je ne pense pas. Je pense que si on se laisse l’opportunité de se voir, de se rencontrer, d’être plus proche, on sera mieux ensemble.

La musique peut aider à changer le monde.

Ol: That’s the plan (C’est ce qui est prévu !)

Vous avez enregistré avec le producteur John Cornfield qui a travaillé être autre avec Muse, Robert Plant, Oasis, comment est-ce que s’est passé cette collaboration ?

Ol : John est quelqu’un de d’incroyable. Il est très calme, il ne parle pas beaucoup, mais il a une vision des choses qui donne beaucoup d’inspiration. Il est presque comme un membre du groupe maintenant. On ne ferait pas la même chose sans lui.

Parmi les 9 chansons de l’album, est-ce que tu as un morceau qui a une signification plus spéciale pour toi.

Ol : Toutes les chansons ont quelque chose de personnel. J’aime beaucoup LIONS parce que c’est inspiré par ma fille. Le fait de devenir père et d’avoir cette fille qui est une force de la nature, c’était quelque chose qui m’a beaucoup touché.

Diorama, de quoi parle-t-elle ?

Ol :  On nous montre souvent le mauvais côté de l’humanité mais je crois que nous avons besoin de voir plus loin et pas seulement regarder ce qu’on a devant nous yeux. L’idée de cette chanson est qu’Il faut voir plus loin, d’avoir confiance dans les générations qui suivent et aussi l’idée d’être avec quelqu’un, de trouver ces personnes dans la vie qui nous mènent au top et qui nous donnent l’espoir et la joie. Diorama est une chanson de d’amour.

J’aime la chanson Devil Eyes, et la performance live avec tout le groupe réuni au milieu de la scène qui chante « Freedom ! » m’a beaucoup émue. Comment vous avez écrit cette chanson ?

Ol : On a écrit cette chanson tous ensemble. Le batteur est venu avec ce vers : All the ancien ways and means to go there puisles paroles sont venues de là. L’idée de la chanson est qu’on peut parfois se perdre dans la nuit et on doit trouver où est la limite. Parfois on va un peu trop près de la limite et il faut savoir si on a la confiance de la franchir ou pas.

On retrouve une inspiration indienne sur Mindful Eye.

Ol : Oui, on a utilisé un sitar qui nous a inspiré pour le pour les paroles. La chanson parle du concept du troisième œil. Si on arrive à s’aligner, on a plus de capacité en soi qu’on le pense.

Tu as commencé par faire du piano et plus tard tu t’es orienté vers de la guitare.

Ol : Oui effectivement. Je crois qu’il faut essayer de jouer le plus d’instruments possible. Chaque instrument donne quelque chose de différent. On écrit différemment sur le piano que sur guitare.

Et en live, il y a plus d’expression dans la guitare. Je ne suis pas super bon en guitare, je laisse ça aux 2 guitaristes et je joue seulement quand on a besoin.

Tu as connu Queen très jeune car ton père, Jim Beach a été le manager du groupe pendant longtemps. Comment est-ce que Queen t’a influencé dans ta musique ?

Ol : QUEEN est un des plus grands groupes de rock de tous les temps. Queen, ce sont des mélodies et des chansons incroyables. Queen c’est le grand show. Je crois que tout musicien est inspiré par eux, même aujourd’hui. QUEEN m’a vraiment impressionné beaucoup quand j’étais jeune et ils m’ont donné l’envie de devenir une star. Freddie Mercury a été l’un de plus grands rock star et performer de tous les temps. Il a été une légende.

As-tu un souvenir particulier lié à Queen ?

Ol : Je me rappelle que je suis allé au studio d’enregistrement avec mon père. Ils faisaient l’album Innuendo à l’époque et alors, ils m’ont proposé d’écouter une chanson et me demander ce que j’en pense. Ils m’ont installé dans la chaise du producteur et je ne savais pas trop ce que je devais faire, taper du pied ou rester immobile.

Ils faisaient partie de nos vies, c’était incroyable de voir ce côté intérieur du monde du rock n’roll  qui  n’était pas toujours glamour.

Quels sont tes autres inspirations musicales ?

Ol : J’aime la musique des années soixante-dix. Les harmonies des Eagles sont géniales et je pense que ça manque un peu aujourd’hui. Ils écrivaient des si belles chansons et des histoires.

Ils ont écrit de centaines de chansons merveilleuses. Si on ne pense qu’à Hotel California, l’une des plus classiques, c’est une œuvre d’art pure. Alors oui, tout cela est fondamentalement mon inspiration.

Comment tu défini ton style de mode sur scène.

Ol : Ce n’est jamais trop. On peut toujours sortir de son confort. C’est une forme d’expression. D’une certaine manière, il faut être courageux avec ce que l’on porte quand on est sur scène. Comme Mick Jagger dirait : regardez-moi, je porte du violet.

Tu portais une chemise violette pour le concert à Paris

Ol : (Rires) oui, c’est vrai.

Qu’est-ce qu’on trouve dans tes placards ?

Ol : Il ya sans doute un peu trop de noir dans ma garde-robe mais c’est classique.

Depuis que tu es très jeune tu vis dans un environnement musical. Qui t’as donné les meilleurs conseils concernant ta carrière musicale ?  J’imagine que c’est ton père.

Ol : Oui, il m’a donné beaucoup de bons conseils. Je ne pourrai pas te donner un exemple précis, mais il m’a suggéré de faire ce que je fais et il a toujours été d’un grand soutien, ce qui est génial. Il m’a toujours soutenu dans mon chemin et j’espère que je fais bien ce que je fais.

Quels sont vos prochains projets ?

Ol : En ce moment, on se concentre sur cet album, en le jouant le mieux qu’on puisse le faire.

On revient à Paris pour jouer le 23 mai au Café de la Danse et je pense qu’on sera probablement en studio avant. Et il y aura des festivals cet été. C’est qui est important pour nous, c’est de continuer à jouer. Les gens veulent nous entendre jouer alors nous continuons à jouer.

On espère faire une tournée à l’automne en France et peut-être qu’on ira au Japon aussi. On espére que cela restera fun !

Electrifying guitars, beautiful haunting harmonies, big choruses and energetic rhythms, ELECTRIC PYRAMID brilliantly mixes 70’s classic rock inspirations with modern catchy sounds.

The band with an international line-up led by Ol Beach is going to release a second album entitled LION, a collection of resolutely rock, atmospheric and luminous songs that exude optimism and joie de vivre. A real delight in this tormented world.

If we were able to discover ELECTRIC PYRAMID live as the opening act for the show Queen Extravaganza, thanks to 16 dates throughout France (watch the mini – documentary) the band will be back in France as headlines on May 23, 2025, the day of the album’s official international release, at the Café de la Danse in Paris.

During his visit to Paris last March, I had the great pleasure to sit with Ol Beach and we talked about the band, his inspirations, QUEEN or his faith in humanity. Meet an optimistic rocker!

You were touring France with Queen Extravaganza. How were you chosen as opening band for this event?

OL: We were very lucky. Just after the signature with the Label Vivienne Music, it turn out that our agent who is the same as Queen Extravanganza, thought that it will be interesting for us to open this show as we will be able to perform in front of a larger audience in France. It was his idea and we are very happy of the impact.

Can you introduce ELECTRIC PYRAMID in a few words?

Ol: There are 7 of us on stage including two guitars and two backup singers. ELECTRIC PYRAMID is the energy of rock music with a slightly romantic spirit on life and a lot of hope for humanity. We have a lot of fun playing together. We’re a big group of friends who play together, so it’s the energy of friends, family and brotherhood.

Where does the name ELECTRIC PYRAMID come from?

Ol: The idea comes from a podcast in which it was said that pyramids are actually tuning forks to align the world and we found the concept interesting. We try to make music for good. 

Your second album LION will be released on May 23, 2025.  How did the writing go? 

OL: Everyone in the band writes and each songs came differently. In fact, each track has its own story. There are songs that are written mainly by one person and then we exchange underneath. And for a lot of songs, we all come to the studio with ideas. We play with these ideas, we mix them, and then little by little, something happens.

In this turbulent world, your music exudes a lot of optimism. It’s the joy of living. What inspires you for your songs?

OL: Inspiration is precisely optimism. I am optimistic. I believe that we can believe more in ourselves, and that humanity is generally something positive. The main idea is to believe that we are better together and that we are not as divided as we think.  Yes, at the moment, it’s difficult and we have the impression that we are very separated, but I don’t think so.

I think that if we give each other the opportunity to see each other, to meet each other, to be closer, we will be better together.

Music can help change the world.

Ol : That’s the plan !

You recorded with producer John Cornfield who worked with Muse, Robert Plant, Oasis, how did that collaboration go? 

OL: John is an incredible person. He’s very calm, he doesn’t talk a lot but he has a vision of things that gives a lot of inspiration. He’s almost a member of the band now. We wouldn’t do the same thing without him.

Among the 9 songs on the album, do you have a track that has a more special meaning for you?

Ol: All the songs have something personal. I really like LIONS because it’s inspired by my daughter. Becoming a father and having this daughter who is a force of nature, it was something that touched me a lot. So yes, I think there’s something special about this song.

What is Diorama about?

OL: We are often shown the bad side of humanity, but I believe that we need to see further and not only what we have in front of us. The idea of this song is that you have to look further, to have confidence in the generations that follow and also the idea of being with someone, to find those people in life who take you to the top and who give you hope and joy. Diorama is a love song.

I like the song Devil Eyes, and the live performance with the whole band gathered in the middle of the stage singing “Freedom!” moved me a lot. How did you write this song?

Ol: We wrote this song all together. The drummer came up with this verse “All the old ways and means to go there” and then the lyrics came from there. The idea of the song is that sometimes you can get lost in the night and you have to find where the edge is. Sometimes you go a little too close to the edge and you have to know if you have the confidence to cross it or not.

We find an Indian inspiration on Mindful Eye.

OL: Yes, we used a sitar that inspired us for the lyrics. The song is about the concept of the third eye. If you manage to align yourself, you have more capacity in yourself than you think.

You started by playing the piano and later you turned to the guitar. 

OL: Yes, indeed. I think you have to try to play as many instruments as possible. Each instrument gives something different. We write differently on the piano than on the guitar. And live, there’s more expression in the guitar. I’m not super good at guitar, I leave that to the guitarist, I only play when we need to.  For compositions I use both. It depends on the inspiration.

You knew Queen at a very young age because your father, Jim Beach, was the band’s manager for a long time. How has Queen influenced you in your music?

Ol: Queen is one of the greatest rock bands of all time. Queen is about incredible melodies and songs.  Queen is the big show. I believe that every musician is inspired by them, even today. QUEEN really impressed me a lot when I was young, and they made me want to become a star. Freddie Mercury was one of the greatest rock stars and performers of all time. He was a legend.

Do you have a particular memory related to Queen?

Ol: I remember, I had to go with my dad to the studio. They were doing the Innuendo album at that time. And they said to me : come to listen to the song, so I was put in the producer chair didn’t know whether I should tap my feet or what to do…

They were part of our lives, it was an amazing inside into the Rock N’ Roll world and obviously into that side, it’s not always glamorous.

How about your other influences?

Ol: I love music of 70s. The harmonies of the Eagles, they were all just Great, great songwriting and I think that this is missing a little bit today away.

They write such great stories. They manage to do hundreds of songs if we think only to Hotel California one of the most classic, it’s a piece of pure art.  So yeah, all of that is basic my common inspiration.

How will you define your fashion style on the stage, in videos?

Ol : It’s never too much . You can always step outside of your comfort. It’s a form of expression. Somehow you have to be brave with what you wear when you are on stage. Like Mick Jagger would say– Look at me I’m wearing purple!

You wear a purple shirt for the concert in Paris

Ol :  (Laughing) Yeah, right.

What can we find in your wardrobe in this moment?

Ol :  Probably little too much black in my wardrobe but that’s classic .

You grow up un the music environment. Who give you the best advice regarding your musical career?  I guess it was your father…

Ol: Yeah, I mean he has a lot of good advice. I wouldn’t be able to give you anything specific. He suggested I do what I do. He is always been very supportive which is great, he always sustained me in the way I am going and hopefully I am doing well.

How about next projects?

Ol: In this moment, we concentrate on this album, playing it the best we can.

We are coming back in Paris and we are playing at Café de la Danse in May, 23^rd and I think we will be probably be in the studio before then.

There will be more touring festivals this summer. The key for us is that we keep playing, people want to hear us playing so we keep playing and hopefully do a tour in autumn in France again then maybe we might be going in Japan. We hopefully keep it fun.
