Beth Hart a une voix impressionnante qui ne ressemble à aucune d’autre. Une voix sublime, à couper le souffle. Beth Hart est une artiste qui se livre corps et âme sur scène. Chacune de ses performances sont chargées d’une incroyable émotion.
Son concert à la Seine Musicale, le 12 juillet 2022 dans le cadre de « The Thankful Tour 2022 » n’a pas fait exception à la règle. Devant une salle comble, Beth Hart nous a offert un show éblouissant.
Originaire de Los Angeles, la chanteuse, compositrice et multi-instrumentiste américaine a commencé sa carrière prodigieuse très tôt, apprenant le piano et montrant un talent exceptionnel de chanteuse de son plus jeune âge. Son parcours musical impeccable a été parsemé par des nombreux obstacles : une jeunesse troublée, ses luttes contre la maladie mentale sous la forme de troubles bipolaires ou contre des dépendances majeures aux drogues et à l’alcool.
Mais son esprit indomptable pour persévérer, son talent indéniable et sa passion l’a ramené sur la bonne voie. Ainsi que le soutien important de son mari Scott, rencontré il y a 23 ans, quand elle était au plus mal.
Ce soir entre les chansons, elle nous parlera avec beaucoup de sincérité et d’émotion de sa vie et exprimera sa reconnaissance et son d’amour pour son mari et tour manager, présent dans la salle et qui aura même le droit à un gros câlin.
Elle a sorti 14 albums, le dernier en date, A Tribute To Led Zeppelin, un album des reprises, sorti le 25 février est une pure merveille. Elle a fait le tour du monde avec Jeff Beck, Buddy Guy et a également joué et enregistré avec Slash et Joe Bonamassa, la collaboration avec le dernier la propulsant au-devant de la scène internationale.
En France, son succès croissant lui a permis de remplir de salles mytiques comme le New Morning, la Cigale, l’Olympia ou le Palais de Congrès. La voilà donc ce soir de 12 Juillet à la Seine Musicale, un lieu culturel unique en Europe, érigée sur l’Ile Seguin, située dans l’ouest parisien.
En ouverture Annie Lalalove, une très jeune artiste influencée par différents styles de musique et des cultures. Née d’une mère guinéenne et d’un père breton, elle a vécu dans plusieurs pays : Guinée, l’Ethiopie, la Réunion, la Côte d’Ivoire et la France d’où ses nombreuses inspirations. Ses chansons sont très agréables : pop- folk avec des touches soul et jazzy.
Accompagnée d’un guitariste et d’un batteur, elle nous offrira une belle performance. On sera surtout charmés par sa très joli voix douce et sensuelle. Elle interpréta plusieurs morceaux de son album The boom boom schack, sorti en 2021, mais aussi une très réussi reprise de Bang Bang de Nancy Sinatra.
Apres une petite pause, à 21h les lumières s’éteignent et « Padam Padam » d’Edith Piaf résonne dans la salle. Alors que son groupe d’accompagnement arrive sur scène, Beth Hart surprend le public en entrant dans la salle par une porte derrière. En chantant, elle s’offrira un bain de foule en serrant des mains, en faisant des grandes accolades, tout en descendant on en remontant les escaliers à côté du public. L’audience est déjà sous le charme.
Reléguée à la régie son, car c’est là qu’officiellement tous les photographes devraient prendre des photos (mais on est seulement deux sur place, car visiblement pas tout le monde a respecté les règles), je l’aperçois au milieu de la foule, souriante, éblouissante, habillée en mini robe turquise ornée des strass, leggings en cuir noir, bottines peep toe à talon.
Si le spectacle a commencé avec Beth au milieu de la foule, on la retrouvera ensuite assises en bord de scène ou assise à son piano ou sur scène au milieu de son groupe. Elle ne cessera pas de nous surprendre.
Beth Hart nous émerveille avec sa voix puissante aussi imposante et rauque que mélancolique et douce alternant aisément entre le blues, le jazz, le rock toujours avec une énergie inébranlable et une incroyable désinvolture.
A chaque interprétation de ses magnifiques chansons Tell Her You Belong To Me (écrit pour son père), la swinging Bad Woman Blues, Jazz Man, bouleversante War In My Mind et l’émotion dévastatrice qu’elle transmet, ou la reprise de Chocolate Jesus de Tom Waits, son impressionnante gamme vocale et sa performance seront superbes.
Le groupe de Hart composé de Bill Ransom (batterie), Jon Nicholls (guitare) et Tom Lilly (basse et contre basse) est exceptionnel et l’alchimie entre les quatre artistes était évidente tout au long de la soirée.
La dernière partie du concert sera acoustique avec le groupe sur le devant de la scène : guitare, percussion et contrebasse, Beth assise sur un tabouret, elle danse sur place et chante avec passion, et grande complicité avec ses musiciens. Sugar Shack et Can’t Let Go (Randy Weeks cover), pour finir avec l’époustouflante Baby Shot Me Down. Entre rugissements de lionne et ronronnements de chat, sa voix est sublimissime.
Pour le rappel, elle reviendra, pieds nus, pour chanter assise devant la scène, accroupie ou à genoux, le medley des reprises Led Zeppelin No Quarter et Babe I’m going to Leave You. L’interprétation est esquisse, elle nous transperce.
Elle vit la musique comme personne d’autre, elle balance sa tête de droite à gauche, elle bouge comme une panthère absolument passionnée, possédée, elle se livre totalement dans sa musique. Un moment poignant.
Sous les énormes ovations du public, elle ne quittera la scène avant de présenter son groupe accompagnement et remercier chaleureusement le public.
Mais Quel concert !
Avec sa musique, mais aussi ses histoires racontées entre les chansons sur sa vie et le sens des chansons, elle nous a transmis une émotion brute, la même qu’elle ressent, elle a tissé des liens et échangé des sentiments avec son public.
Malgré la grandeur de la salle, on a assisté pourtant à un spectacle intimiste. Le public a immédiatement été transporté dans son monde bouleversant qui nous a touché si profondément. Personne dans le public n’oubliera jamais ce concert.
On a vu des larmes de joie et de douleur. Beth Hart s’est complètement livré sur scène, prouvant qu’elle est vrai, authentique, une chanteuse qui a non seulement un talent incroyable et une énorme passion pour son art, mais aussi le courage de montrer avec honnêteté ses émotions et sa fragilité. Elle a le cœur sur la main.
Et quand un artiste fait ressortir son âme sur scène à travers sa musique et ses mots simples, sans effets spéciaux, sans trop de sophistication , ça nous touche énormément.
Beth Hart est une bombe atomique. Armée d’une voix magnifique puissante et tendre, Beth Hart est une artiste inégalable dans son talent, son énergie et sa générosité. Sans aucun doute, elle est une des meilleures chanteuses de blues de tous les temps. Une Icone ! Une Diva !

Her concert at the Seine Musicale, on July 12, 2022 as part of “The Thankful Tour 2022” was no exception. In front of an almost sold-out venue, the Californian singer offered us a dazzling show.
Originally from Los Angeles, the singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist began her prodigious career at an early age, learning piano and showing exceptional singing talent. But her musical journey has been dotted with many obstacles: a troubled youth, her struggles with mental illness, bipolar disorders or those against drugs and alcohol addictions.
But her indomitable spirit to persevere, her undeniable talent and passion brought her back on the right track. As well as the great support of her husband Scott, met 23 years ago, when she was at her worst.
Tonight, between the songs, she will talk to us with a lot of sincerity and emotion about her life and will express her gratitude and love for her husband and tour manager, present in the room and who will even have the right to a big hug.

In France, her growing success allowed it to fill with mystical venues such as the New Morning, la Cigale, the Olympia or the Palais de Congrès. So here she is this evening of July 12 at the Seine Musicale, a unique cultural place in Europe, erected on Ile Seguin located in western Paris.
Opening act Annie Lalalove, a very young artist influenced by different styles of music and cultures. Born to a Guinean mother and a French father, she has lived in several countries: Guinea, Ethiopia, Reunion, Ivory Coast and France hence her many inspirations.
Her songs are very pleasant: pop-folk with soul and jazzy touches. Accompanied by a guitarist and a drummer, she will offer us a beautiful performance. We will be especially charmed by her very pretty soft and sensual voice. She performed several songs from her album The boom boom schack, released in 2021, but also a very successful cover of Nancy Sinatra’s Bang Bang.
After a short break, at 9pm the lights go out and “Padam Padam” by Edith Piaf resonates in the room. As her band arrives on stage, Beth Hart surprises the audience by entering the room through a door behind.
While singing, she will offer herself a crowd bath by shaking hands, making hugs while going up and down the stairs next to the audience. The audience is overwhelmed.
Relegated to the sound control, because this is the place where officially all photographers should take pictures (but we are only two of us are on the spot, as obviously not everyone has respected the rules), I see her in the middle of the crowd, smiling, dazzling, dressed in mini turquoise dress adorned with rhinestones, black leather leggings, high heel peep toes boots.
If the show started with Beth in the middle of the crowd, we will then find her sitting on the edge of the stage or sitting at her piano or on stage in the middle of her group. She will not stop to surprise us during the show.
Beth Hart amazes us with her powerful voice as imposing and husky as melancholic and sweet alternating easily between blues, jazz, rock always with an unwavering energy and an incredible casualness.
With each interpretation of her beautiful songs: Tell Her You Belong To Me (written for her father), the swinging Bad Woman Blues, Jazz Man, the fantastic War In My Mind with its devastating raw emotion, or the cover of Tom Waits’ Chocolate Jesus, her impressive vocal range and performance will be superb.
Hart’s band: Bill Ransom (drums), Jon Nicholls (guitar) and Tom Lilly (bass and bass) was exceptional and the chemistry between the four artists was evident throughout the evening.
The last part of the concert will be acoustic with the band on the front of the stage: guitar, percussion and double bass, Beth sitting on a stool, she dances on the spot and sings with passion. Great complicity with her musicians.
Sugar Shack and Can’t Let Go (Randy Weeks cover), to finish with the breath-taking Baby Shot Me Down. Between lioness roars and cat purrs, her voice is magnificent.
For the encore, she will return, barefoot, to sing sitting in front of the stage, squatting, or kneeling, the fantastic medley of the Led Zeppelin’s covers No Quarter and Babe I’m going to Leave You.
She lives music like no one else, she swings her head from right to left, absolutely passionate, possessed, like a panther, she indulges totally in her music. A poignant moment.
Under the huge ovations of the audience, she will leave the stage but not before introducing her band and warmly thanking the audience.
What a Gig!
With her music, but also her stories told between the songs about her life and the meaning of the songs, she transmitted to us the same emotion she feels, she forged links and exchanged feelings with her audience.
Despite the grandeur of the hall, we nevertheless witnessed an intimate show. The audience was immediately transported into her overwhelming world that touched us so deeply. No one in the audience will ever forget this concert.
We saw tears of joy and tears of pain. Beth Hart gave herself totally on stage, proving that she is true, authentic, a singer who not only has incredible talent and a huge passion for her art, but also the courage to honestly show her emotions and fragility. She has her heart on her hand.
Beth Hart is an atomic bomb. Armed with an incredible powerful and tender voice, Beth Hart is a soulful artist unbeatable in her talent, energy and generosity. For sure, she is one of the best blues singers of all time. An Icon! A Diva!
