Quand on arrive le 11 juillet à la Cigale, Paris vers 19h30, la salle est quasiment vide. Devant de la scène, il y a une trentaine de personnes, les places assises de côtés sont occupées à moitié. Les balcons sont fermés. Est-ce que les parisiens sont déjà partis en vacances ou c’est la chaleur qui les a dissuadés de sortir de chez eux ? Dommage, car ce soir, on va assister à 2 concerts de folie.
De mon côté, ce n’est pas souvent que je vais à un concert spécialement pour voir la première partie, en occurrence JJ Wilde, mais cette fois, c’est vraiment le cas, car je ne connaissais pas du tout Vintage Trouble.
Après son show extraordinaire, le 6 décembre 2021 à la Maroquinerie à Paris, la canadienne JJ WILDE est revenue en France plusieurs fois : d’abord, en ouverture de Scorpions à Accor Arena, le 17 Mai, ensuite au festival de Nîmes, le 5 juillet, en ouverture de Kiss. La revoilà, donc de nouveau à Paris, cette fois en ouverture de Vintage Trouble.
Vers 20 h, Ty Taylor, le front man de Vintage Trouble, en personne, déboule sur scène pour présenter JJ Wilde etdemander à l’audience de lui faire un bel accueil.
Sublime, habillée dans un ensemble blouson – short en cuir, la charismatique rockeuse flanquée de ses 2 guitaristes, un bassiste / claviériste et un batteur, nous offrira un concert absolument incendiaire.
Pendant 40 minutes, la set list alterne des morceaux hyper énergiques Off The Rails, Best Boy, the Rush mais aussi la magnifique ballade Mercy, superbement interprété et l’excellente reprise de Stevie Nicks, Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around.
Sa voix vibrante et rocailleuse est époustouflante. Malgré la chaleur dans la salle, aucune baisse d’énergie, aucun répit. JJ se dépense à 100%. Au milieu de set la chanteuse abandonnera son magnifique blouson pour rester dans un joli haut noir que dévoile son dos tatoué. La température monte d’un cran ! Hot ! Le public est absolument conquis. Aux premiers rangs les téléphones portables filment en continu.
Entre les morceaux, elle exprimera (en français !) sa joie d’être là, son amour pour la France et le public français.
Notons aussi la très belle complicité entre JJ et ses excellents musiciens d’accompagnement.
Véritable bête de scène,la ravissante JJ WILDE a de nouveaux pulvérisé l’audience avec son charme, son Rock N’Roll énergique et ses mélodies accrocheuses. Décidément, ce soir elle a encore gagné quelques fans français.
C’est le tour du groupe de Rhythm & Blues américain, Vintage Trouble, de monter sur scène. Le groupe californien s’est produit plusieurs fois à Paris notamment en ouverture de Lenny Kravitz (2012), The Who (2013) ou AC/DC (2015) mais aussi en tête d’affiche de plusieurs concerts sold out. Ils ont été aussi présents à Hellfest en 2016.
Le quatuor Ty Taylor – chant, Nalle Colt – guitare, chœurs, Rick Barrio Dill – basse, chœurs, Richard Danielson – batterie, percussions, chœurs sont accompagnés ce soir par un choriste, Tawney Dolley.
Tous souriants et très élégants, ils sont accueils avec des grand enthousiasme par un public déjà hyper chaud. Entre temps, la fosse s’est quasiment remplie.
2 albums et plusieurs EP à leur actif, les américains nous offrions un remarquable voyage musical à travers des sonorités rhythm & blues, soul et funky aux merveilleux influences retro.
Des morceaux joyeux, mélodieux et très dansantes dégagent une énorme énergie et de la bonne humeur. Véritable bête de scène (lui aussi !!!), le chanteur Ty Taylor est un grand showman qui mène le public à la baguette. Sa voix soul et puissante est un épatant mix de James Brown, Ottis Redding ou Al Green.
Il bouge en long et en large de la scène. Ses sauts, contorsions, ses déhanchés sexy à la James Brown sont ravisent l’audience. Une forme athlétique ! Sa chemise fleurie sera complétement mouillée après quelques chansons.
Il s’adresse en permanence au public qui suit avec plaisir et frénésie ses demandes de danser, chanter, faire des vagues ou taper dans les mains. Les fans connus sous le nom de « TroubleMakers », swinguent joyeusement dans la fosse. Bonne ambiance et délicieux moments de partage !
Je retiendrais quelques morceaux : Nancy Lee – énergique et sensuel, My Whole World Stopped Without You, une magnifique balade qui montre l’excellente gamme vocale de Taylor ou le morceau inspiré gospel The World’s going to Have To Take A Turn around.
Les solos de Colt sont très bons tandis que Danielson et R Barrio Dill tiennent la section rythmique d’une main ferme.
Avec un rythme contagieux, des mélodies catchy et très belle prestance scénique, Vintage Trouble, est au top ce soir. La maîtrise de l’audience est incroyable. Un groupe totalement en osmose avec le public qui aurait passé une belle soirée d’été sourires aux visages.

When we arrive on July 11 at La Cigale, Paris around 7:30 pm, the venue is almost empty. In front of the stage, there are about thirty people, the seats on the sides are half occupied. Balconies are closed. Have Parisians ever gone on holiday or is it the heat in this summer evening that has deterred them from leaving their homes? Too bad, because tonight, we will attend 2 fantastic very hot concerts.
On my side, it’s not often that I go to a concert specially to see the opening artist, tonight, JJ Wilde, but this time, it is really is the case, because I did not know anything about Vintage Trouble.
After her extraordinary show, on December 6, 2021 at the Maroquinerie in Paris, the Canadian JJ WILDE came back to France several times: first, opening for Scorpions at Accor Arena, on May 17, then at the Nîmes festival, on July 5, opening for Kiss. Here she is again, in Paris, this time at the opening for Vintage Trouble.
Around 8 p.m., Ty Taylor, the front man of Vintage Trouble, in person, takes to the stage to introduce JJ Wilde and ask the audience to give him a nice welcome.
Sublime, wearing a leather jacket – leather short, the charismatic rocker flanked by her 2 guitarists, a bassist / keyboardist and a drummer, will offer us an absolutely incendiary concert.
For 40 minutes, the set list alternates hyper energetic songs Off The Rails, Best Boy, the Rush but also the magnificent ballad Mercy, superbly interpreted and the excellent cover of Stevie Nicks, Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around.
Her vibrant and raspy voice is breath-taking. Despite the heat in the room, no drop in energy, no respite. JJ is 100% speed and motivation. In the middle of the set, she will drop her beautiful jacket, so we can discover a pretty black top that reveals her tattooed back. The temperature is higher and the audience is absolutely conquered. In the front of the stage, the mobile phones film continuously.
Between the songs, she will express (in French!) her joy to be there, her love for the France and the French audience. Note also the beautiful complicity between JJ and her excellent musicians.
A true stage beast, the delightful JJ WILDE has smashed the audience with her charm, energetic Rock N’Roll and catchy melodies. Definitely, tonight she won some more French fans.
It’s the turn of the American Rhythm & Blues band, Vintage Trouble to arrive on stage. The Californian band has performed several times in Paris including opening for Lenny Kravitz (2012), The Who (2013) or AC/DC (2015) but also headlining several sold-out concerts. They also performed at Hellfest in 2016.
The quartet Ty Taylor– vocals, Nalle Colt – guitar, backing vocals, Rick Barrio Dill – bass, backing vocals, Richard Danielson – drums, percussion, backing vocals are accompanied tonight by a backing vocalist, Tawney Dolley. All smiling and very elegant, are welcomed with great enthusiasm by the public.
In the meantime, the pit has almost filled up. It’s getting hotter and hotter.
2 albums and several EPs to their credit, the Americans will offer a remarkable musical journey through rhythm & blues, soul and funky sounding with wonderful retro influences.
Joyful, melodious and very danceable their tracks exude enormous energy and good humor. A true stage beast (also !!!), singer Ty Taylor is a great showman who leads the audience to the baton. His soul and powerful voice is an amazing mix of James Brown, Ottis Redding or Al Green.
He moves along and wide the stage. His jumps, contortions, James Brown-style hips movements are fantastic. An athletic form! His floral shirt will be completely wet after a few songs.
It is permanently addressed to the public. The audience follows with pleasure and frenzy his requests to dance, sing, make waves or clap their hands.
The Fans known as “TroubleMakers”, swing happily in the pit. Good atmosphere and delicious moments of sharing!
I remember a few songs: the energetic and sensual, Nancy Lee, My Whole World Stopped Without You a magnificent walk that shows Taylor’s excellent vocal range or the gospel inspired song The World’s going to Have To Take A Turn around.
Colt’s solos are very good while Danielson and R Barrio Dill hold the rhythm section with a firm hand.
With a contagious rhythm, catchy melodies and very beautiful stage presence, Vintage Trouble, is excellent tonight. The control of the audience is incredible. A band totally in osmosis with the audience who will have spent a magical summer evening big smiles on their faces.
