Et voilà la deuxième partie de la playlist de décembre 2020 avec quelques morceaux spécial Noël, des nouvelles sorties, des belles découvertes et quelques suggestions pour les fêtes de fin d’année… ROYAL REPUBLIC, BLEEKER, DRAGGED UNDER, GRETA VAN FLEET, GRANDMA’S ASHES, THE LAST INTERNATIONALE, Kylie MINOGUE, FURIES, DEAD POET SOCIETY, Austin Meade, Ayron Jones, SOEN, Steven WILSON, PUSCIFER, SAXON.
GRETA VAN FLEET – Age Of Machine
Greta Van Fleet a lancé un nouveau single intitulé « Age Of Machine » et ils ont annoncé la sortie de leur prochain album studio. Intitulé « The Battle At Garden’s Gate » quisera disponible le 16 avril 2021
Ce nouveau titre figurera sur ce nouvel opus, tout comme « My Way, Soon » le morceau dévoilé il y a quelques semaines déjà.
Les américains ont joué “live” à la télé US dans l’émission « The Late Show with Stephen Colbert » le 9 décembre. Découvrez le replay !
THE LAST INTERNATIONALE –Try Me
2020 est une année chargée pour The Last Internationale en France. Vous avez entendu parler très souvent ici avec la sortie leur album « Soul On Fire », leur concert au Club 1999, Paris ou leurs apparitions très remarquées dans TARATATA à deux reprises, une première fois au mois de mars, puis en octobre !
Le duo new-yorkais a été largement salué par la presse française de spécialité et l’on a pu entendre leurs chansons résonner sur les ondes de RTL (Les Nocturnes), Europe 1 (Musique !), RTL2 (Pop Rock Station, Le Drive), Oui FM et plusieurs stations de la Ferarock.
Malheureusement comme pour tout le monde, beaucoup de leurs concerts ont été annulés mais Delila Paz (chant & basse) & Edgey Pires (guitare) n’ont pas chômé.
Ils ont donc profité de ce « temps libre » pour travailler sur de nouvelles compos, donner quelques concerts « en ligne » et, surtout, enregistrer ce « Live At Arda Recorders » qui sera disponible en digital le 18 décembre prochain sur toutes les plateformes.
Pour ce, ils ont fait appel à leurs potes de Shaka Ponk – Ion Meunier (batterie), Mandris Da Cruz (basse), Steve Desgarceaux (claviers) – avec qui ils se sont enfermés dans ce petit studio au Portugal où ils ont capturé, dans les conditions du direct, toute l’énergie de huit chansons.
Try Me est le premier extrait de ce « live ». Le son et les images montrent comment TLI a réussi à retranscrire en studio l’énergie qu’ils dégagent habituellement sur scène. On y ressent leurs influences rock, blues, hip-hop et folk dans ces véritables assauts sonores. Pas questions de samples ou d’overdubs, ici les musiciens se sont branchés et ont juste joué. Tout est cru, imparfait, donc… parfait, pour un groupe de rock ! Ce «Live At Arda Recorders» est en quelque sorte un remède face à cette foutue pandémie qui nous empêche de voir les musiciens en chair et en os !
Les versions CD & vinyle, ainsi qu’un documentaire filmé pendant l’enregistrement seront disponibles.

A noter que depuis le début du mois de décembre, le groupe se produit régulièrement en ligne. Sa dernière prestation de l’année se déroulera précisément le 18 décembre prochain.
ROYAL REPUBLIC – Magic
Fin août les suédois les plus funs de la scène rock refaisaient parler d’eux en réalisant le titre “Super Love”. Voilà qu’ils récidivent avec Magic, un de ces singles énergiques à souhait dont ils ont le secret ! Prêts pour faire la fête ?
BLEEKER – Silent Night
Les canadianas nous offrent une jolie version de la traditionnelle chanson de Noël. A écouter au coin du feu à coté d’un beau sapin…
DRAGGED UNDER – This Holiday
Et si vous n’aimez pas Noël et les fêtes de fin d’année, ce morceau est pour vous !!

GRANDMA’S ASHES – Daddy Issues
Avec un nom pareil, nul doute que le trio féminin n’a pas l’intention de faire de la figuration ! Girlsband électrique s’il en est, GRANDMA’S ASHES (littéralement les « cendres de grand-mère ») redore le blason du rock progressif et du stoner à grands coups de riffs endiablés et de désinvolture euphorisante.
Synthèse parfaite de l’humour noir des Monty Pythons et des ambiances planantes de Muse, Kate Bush ou encore Mars Red Sky, le power-trio ne rentre dans aucune case, s’affranchissant ainsi des étiquettes qu’on pourrait trop facilement leur coller.
En prémices d’un premier EP, « THE FATES », à paraître en début 2021, le groupe dégaine un nouveau single à leur image : fougueux et indomptable, le genre de morceau addictif qui nous invite tout bonnement à mettre les doigts dans la prise ! On vous aura prévenu !
FURIES – Fortune’s Gate
Le premier album de FURIES est disponible depuis le 16 Octobre. Après l’hymne Voodoo Chains et l’entrainant You & I, découvrez désormais l’intégralité de Fortune’s Gate ! Du heavy, une pointe de hard, un soupçon de thrash : Fortune’s Gate est une nouvelle étape pour le quartet Parisien. Un long-format que le groupe a choisi d’accompagner avec une lyrics-video du titre éponyme, “Fortune’s Gate”.
Sur scène comme en studio, FURIES et son line-up mixte revendiquent autant l’efficacité du hard rock, la puissance du heavy metal que l’esprit du thrash, entre l’influence certaine des maîtres du metal old-school et une dose de fraîcheur incontestable.
DEAD POET SOCIETY – CoDA.
La découverte de DEAD POET SOCIETY continue avec CoDA. Leur album “!” (The Exclamation Album) sera disponible le 12 février 2021. On a hâte.
AUSTIN MEADE – Happier Alone
Vous n’êtes pas fan de country et pourtant vous allez adorer son titre ” Happier Alone” qui a déjà généré plus de 2 millions de streams rien qu’aux Etats-Unis.
Les histoires qu’Austin Meade raconte à travers ses chansons sont aussi contradictoires que cohésives. « Black Sheep », son premier album pour Snakefarm Records (disponible en février prochain), reflètent des influences musicales (mais pas que) aussi riches que variées. C’est sur les terres d’une petite ville texane qu’il a nourri son talent et que sont nées ces 12 chansons stellaires dont la musicalité ne fait aucun doute.
C’est en découvrant la profondeur d’auteurs-compositeurs tels que John Mayer ou Tom Petty, qu’Austin Meade a ouvert son âme à la musique. Batteur à ses débuts, enseignant pour survivre, c’est grâce à sa guitare qu’il a finalement trouvé sa vraie voix.
AYRON JONES –TAKE ME AWAY
Découvrez AYRON JONES et TAKE ME AWAY. Quel qu’en soit sa version, en STUDIO, LIVE ou ACOUSTIQUE, dans tous les cas, cette chanson est une tuerie !
A cause cet incroyable son de guitare bien sûr, mais aussi grâce à cette manière de chanter à fleur de peau…”Explosive”, est sans aucun doute le terme adéquat pour qualifier la musique de ce guitariste /
Désormais signé sur le label du styliste John Varvatos, Ayron n’a pas toujours connu une vie facile, les obstacles ne l’ont pas épargné, mais c’est aussi de ces heures sombres de sa vie qu’il tire les inspirations les plus brutes de sa musique.
Véritable melting pop entre rock, grunge, R&B, hip hop, et même musique classique, ses compositions laissent de traces…La dernière en date se nomme “Boys From The Puget Sound”
PUSCIFER – Fake Affront
Véritable écosystème culturel, Puscifer s’articule autour de son trio fondateur – Maynard James Keenan [chanteur], Mat Mitchell [guitariste / producteur], et Carina Round [chanteuse / auteur] – qui, pour mieux servir sa constante évolution, aime s’entourer de personnages hauts en couleur tels que Billy D et son épouse Hildy Berger, Major Douche, ou encore l’agent spécial Dick Merkin.
Fake Affront est extrait du concert filmé depuis l’écovillage Arcosanti dans le désert de l’Arizona, ou le groupe a présenté leur nouvel album Existential Reckoning dans des conditions dignes des meilleurs films de science-fiction.
De par sa faune et sa flore, le cadre naturellement sublime de l’endroit, mais aussi son architecture aux allures « extra-terrestres », Arcosanti correspond en tout point aux visions artistiques de ces musiciens qui voyagent depuis plus de 15 ans à travers la galaxie.
Puscifer étant justement né quelque part dans ce désert hostile, ce show sur ces terres arides ne manquera pas de mettre en avant l’approche multimédia de cet électro rock que le groupe a élevé au rang d’Art au fil de ses trois précédents albums.

The Future Bites, le nouvel album de Steve Wilson sortira le 29 janvier 2021et son nouveau single s’intitule “12 Things I Forgot”
Sa tournée française en septembre 2021 comprendra 7 dates, dont le Zenith à Paris.
SAXON – Paint It Black
Pour rendre hommage aux groupes qui ont marqué leur jeunesse et influencé leur premier pas dans le monde la musique, Biff Byford et son groupe ont décidé d’enregistrer, de manière “old school”,11 titres qui les ont marqués dans les 60’s et les 70’s.
Pour ce, ils ont investi le Brockfield Hall, une bonne vieille résidence typiquement britannique, où ils ont entassé tout leur matos vintage pour y répéter, puis enregistrer, tous les cinq ensembles, de manière quasi live, afin de retrouver les sensations qui ont animé leurs débuts.

Et on ne pouvait pas clôturer cette dernière playlist de l’année sans une album spécial « piste de dance » même si cette année on dansera plutôt dans notre salon. La reine de la pop, Kylie Minogue fait un retour fracassant avec DISCO, un album qui ressuscite…le disco. Enfiler votre tenue strass et pailletés, les chaussures de danse et suivez la chorée !

GRETA VAN FLEET – Age Of Machine
Greta Van Fleet has released a new single “Age Of Machine” and they have announced the release of their next studio album “The Battle At Garden’s Gate” which will be available April 16, 2021.
This new track will appear on this new album, as well as “My Way, Soon” the track unveiled a few weeks ago. The Americans played “live” on U.S. TV in “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” on December 9. Check out the replay!
THE LAST INTERNATIONALE –Try Me
2020 is definitely a busy year for The Last Internationale in France. You have heard many times here about them with the release of their album “Soul On Fire”, their concert at Club 1999, Paris or their highly noticed appearances in TARATATA twice, first in March and then in October! The New York duo was widely praised by the French specialty press and their songs could be heard resonating on RTL (Les Nocturnes), Europe 1 (Music!), RTL2 (Pop Rock Station, Le Drive), Oui FM and several Stations of the Ferarock.
Unfortunately, as for everyone else, many of their concerts were cancelled, but Delila Paz (vocals and bass) – Edgey Pires (guitar) continue to work hard.
They took advantage of this “free time” to work on new compositions, perform some concerts online and, above all, record this “Live At Arda Recorders” which will be available digitally on December 18th on all platforms.
To do this, they called on their friends Shaka Ponk – Ion Meunier (drums), Mandris Da Cruz (bass), Steve Desgarceaux (keyboards) – with whom they locked themselves in this small studio in Portugal where they captured, under “live” conditions all the energy of eight songs.
Try Me is the first extract from this live album. The sound and images show how TLI managed to capture the energy they usually exude on stage in the studio. You can feel their rock, blues, hip-hop and folk influences in these real sonic assaults. No questions of samples or overdubs, here the musicians plugged in and just played. Everything is raw, imperfect, so… Perfect for a rock band! This “Live At Arda Recorders” is in a way a cure for this damn pandemic that prevents us from seeing musicians in the flesh and blood! The CD-vinyl versions, as well as a documentary filmed during the recording will be available.

GRANDMA’S ASHES- Daddy Issues
With a name like that, there is no doubt that the female trio has no intention of making figuration! Electric girls’ band, GRANDMA’S ASHES re-energize the crest of progressive rock and stoner with great strokes of frenzied riffs and euphoric casualness. A perfect synthesis of the black humour of Monty Pythons and the soaring atmospheres of Muse, Kate Bush or Mars Red Sky, the power-trio does not fit in any box, thus freeing themselves from labels that could be too easily pasted to them.

Fake Affront is from the concert filmed from the Arcosanti ecovillage in the Arizona desert, where the band presented their new album Existential Reckoning in conditions worthy of the best sci-fi films.
Arcosanti’s wildlife, the naturally sublime setting of the place, but also its “extra-terrestrial” architecture, corresponds in every way to the artistic visions of these musicians who have been travelling throughout the galaxy for more than 15 years. Puscifer was born somewhere in this hostile desert, this show on these arid lands is sure to highlight the multimedia approach of this electro rock that the band has elevated to the rank of Art over its three previous albums. Steven WILSON – Personal Shopper
Personal Shopper is the “ideal” music video to illustrate Black Friday or Christmas shopping fever! The Future Bites, Steve Wilson’s new album, will be released on January 29, 2021 and his new single is titled “12 Things I Forgot“.
His French tour in September 2021 will include 7 dates, including the Zenith in Paris.
SAXON – Paint It Black
To pay tribute to the bands that marked their youth and influenced their first step in the world of music, Biff Byford and his band decided to record, in an “old school” way, 11 tracks that marked them in the 60’s and 70’s. For this, they took over Brockfield Hall, a good old-fashioned British residence, where they piled up all their vintage gear to rehearse and then record, all five sets, almost live, in order to rediscover the sensations that animated their beginnings.
