Nous voilà arrivés à la playlist de Décembre 2020. Oui, une nouvelle année prend fin dans 30 jours, une année assez sombre qu’on voudra sincèrement oublier ou se rappeler le moins possible. Avant de vous présenter le traditionnel « Best of 2020 » (musical rassurez-vous !!!) découvrez les news et la playlist de ce dernier mois de l’année (en deux parties). Cette semaine Saul, Pop Evil, MUZZ, WARDRUNA, DeWolff, AVATAR, LEVARA, THE LUKA STATE, DIAMOND HEAD et WITHIN TEMPTATION.
SAUL – King of Misery
Quand le rock US rime avec GROS son ! Découvrez le clip du nouveau groupe qui monte aux Etats-Unis : SAUL ! Leur 1er album RISE AS EQUALS est sorti le 23 octobre et ça mérite le détour !
Originaire d’Iowa, SAUL se compose des frères Bedsaul, Blake [chant] & Zach [guitare] et de William McIlravy [basse] & Myles Clayborne [batterie]
Cette nouvelle vidéo – filmée lors du “Saul Day” à Sutherland, la ville d’origine du groupe – témoigne d’un véritable échange d’énergie entre les musiciens et leurs fans, désormais connus sous le nom d’ “Equals.”
2020 est une année phare pour Saul. Avec la sortie du single Brother le groupe est passé du statut de groupe “inconnu” à la 1ère place des charts de la radio SiriusXM’s Octane. Pour atteindre un tel résultat le quatuor a pu compter sur la solide fanbase qu’il s’est lentement mais sûrement construite. La passion de ces fans se ressent sur cette vidéo qui fait spécifiquement référence à leur surnom. Ce clip, ainsi que le texte de la chanson, symbolisent la connexion directe entre le groupe et son public à une époque où beaucoup d’êtres humains ont plus que besoin de ce type de relation.

WARDRUNA – Kvitravn
Kvitravn (traduction : Corbeau blanc), c’est le morceau titre du prochain album de Wardruna qui sortira le 22 janvier 2021. Tournée française en avril 2021.
Cette impressionnante vidéo, véritable court-métrage – réalisé par Ragnarok Films et capté dans différents endroits en Norvège et en Russie – illustre un puissant récit centré sur cette créature sacrée et insaisissable, symbole de ce nouveau disque.
A travers l’œil de ce volatile rare l’on survole un paysage dramatique, aussi rude que magnifique. Des images enchanteresses qui nous permettent de suivre la quête du fondateur de Wardruna, Einar Selvik, et de la chanteuse Lindy Fay-Hella, parcourant cette nature sauvage. Superbe !
DEWOLFF – Yes You Do
DeWolff revient avec la vidéo d’une toute nouvelle chanson Yes You Do, mettant en vedette Ian Peres (ex-Wolfmother) et l’auteure-compositrice-interprète Judy Blank.
Le nouvel album des hollandais sympathiques intitulé Wollpack est prévue le 5 février 2021
Pendant le confinement, les frères Pablo et Luka van de Poel et leur ami Robin Piso ont expérimenté des paysages sonores brumeux, des riffs pétillants accompagnés de synthé Hammond, des mélodies contagieuses et le tout dans l’esprit soul -funk psychédélique de DeWolff.
Avec les pouvoirs modernes de la technologie, plusieurs invités sont passés par les portes proverbiales des sessions. Pour « Yes You Do », l’ancien bassiste de Wolfmother, Ian Peres pose une certaine lourdeur autour de la fusion tourbillonnante du trio psychédélique et la chanteuse -compositrice Judy Blank se joint avec sa voix.

LEVARA – Heaven Knows
Mascot annonce la signature de ce nouveau groupe “américain” LEVARA qui a déjà des liens particuliers avec la France ! Heaven Knows est le premier extrait de leur futur 1er album.
C’est bien connu les chiens ne font pas des chats… Pas étonnant donc que Trev Lukather (guitare), le fils de Steve Lukather (guitariste, chanteur et membre fondateur de Toto), soit lui-même devenu un musicien hors-pair. Avant de former LEVARA, il s’était déjà fait remarquer sur “Comin’ Hot” le premier album de Diamante, en tournée avec What So Not, ou en co-signant le hit de Halestorm “Love/Hate Heartbreak”.
Originaire de Bournemouth, en Angleterre, le batteur Josh Devine est connu pour avoir joué aux quatre coins de la planète avec One Direction. On le retrouve d’ailleurs sur deux de leurs DVD live.
De son côté, le chanteur Jules Galli est… Français… après avoir immigré en Floride, il s’est finalement installé en Californie, là où tout a commencé pour LEVARA.
Cette union entre un américain, un anglais et un français s’est avérée plus que fructueuse. Tous trois amateurs de “classic rock”, ils ont su conjuguer leurs multiples influences avec des touches suffisamment modernes pour donner à leurs chansons une énergie communicative parfaitement retranscrite par les images de ce premier clip où les musiciens sont loin de se prendre au sérieux.
Produit par Ethan Kaufmann, le 1er album du groupe sera disponible au printemps 2021… à suivre…
THE LUKA STATE – FEEL IT
THE LUKA STATE est un nouveau groupe Anglais originaire du Cheshire. Leur ville natale est célèbre pour l’extraction du sel, et pas grand-chose d’autre. Pourtant, étant à mi-chemin entre Liverpool et Manchester, chaque enfant de la ville veut devenir soit footballeur soit une pop star à la minute où ils peuvent frapper un ballon ou jouer de la guitare.
THE LUKA STATE a choisi la musique. Insert Girl’s name here est le dernier d’une série de singles très acclamés, qui ont reçu une couverture énorme et lui a valu des diffusions sur BBC 6 Music, Radio X, et bien d’autres.
Élevé au son de The Clash et The Jam, leur son est alimenté par une énergie énorme, des guitares puissantes et une voix furieuse. Leur premier album « Fall in Fall out » sortira le 29/01/2021 et Feel it est le 1er extrait. Vous allez surement en entendre parler.
DIAMOND HEAD – NO REMORSE
Lightning To The Nations 2020 la version réenregistrée du tout 1er album de Diamond Head (également connu sous le nom de “The White Album”) est disponible depuis le 27 novembre 2020. Sorti en 1980 ce disque est l’une des pierres angulaires de New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, un disque qui a influencé un bon nombre de groupes. Ça n’est pas par hasard si Metallica a repris 4 titres de cette merveille : “Helpless”, “It’s Electric”, “The Prince”, et, bien sûr, ” ‘Am I Evil ?”
D’ailleurs, lorsque l’on pose une oreille attentive sur les premiers disques des “Four Horsemen” et de Megadeth, on se rend compte à quel point Diamond Head a eu une influence majeure sur ces deux groupes… 40 ans plus tard, Brian Tatler a voulu donner une seconde vie à son premier disque en le réenregistrant avec ses partenaires actuels et faire ainsi entrer les chansons dans le 21ème siècle.
Le résultat, Lightning To The Nations 2020, est tout simplement, un coup brillant de vigueur métallique fraîche, avec Diamond Head utilisant toutes leurs compétences, l’expérience et l’énergie revitalisée.
Et cette fois c’est DIAMOND HEAD qui reprend METALLICA avec No Remorse ! La boucle est bouclée…
Pop Evil – Breathe Again
Pop Evil a annoncé la sortie de Versatile, son prochain album studio qui sera disponible courant 2021. A cette occasion le groupe a dévoilé un nouveau titre Breathe Again, son troisième single de l’année. Après les surprenants Work et Let The Chaos Reign, Breathe Again continue dans le même esprit novateur et laisse présager un album très diversifié et captivant.

Les samedis 9, 16, 23 et 30 janvier 2021 vous pourrez assister, en “live stream” à 4 concerts complètement différents, axés, selon les soirées, autour des albums “Hunter Gatherer“, “Avatar Country”, “Feathers & Flesh”, “Hail The Apocalypse”, “Black Waltz”, “Thoughts of No Tomorrow”, “Schlacht” et “Avatar”.

Pour les musiciens d’Avatar, rien ne pourra jamais remplacer la sensation de se retrouver sur scène face à la bête rugissante, avide de sang et de métal, que leur public peut devenir. A défaut de pouvoir donner de “vrais” concerts, avec ces 4 prestations en ligne, le groupe se prépare à offrir une série de spectacles qu’il ne pourrait jamais donner sur une scène normale. On y découvrira donc Avatar comme on ne l’a jamais vu jusqu’à présent. Plus de musique, plus de puissance, plus de folie seront au rendez-vous, mais le tableau ne serait pas vraiment complet si les fans n’y participaient pas à leur manière en contribuant à la composition des setlists.

For Avatar musicians, nothing can ever replace the feeling of being on stage in front of the roaring beast, hungry for blood and metal, that their audience can become. Failing to give “real” concerts, with these 4 performances online, the band is preparing to offer a series of shows that it could never give on a normal stage. We will discover Avatar as we have never seen before. More music, more power, more madness will be there, but the picture would not be really complete if the fans did not participate in their own way by contributing to the composition of the setlists.

SAUL – King of Misery
When US rock rhymes with BIG sound! Check out the videoclip of the new band coming up from the United States: SAUL! Their 1st album RISE AS EQUALS was released on October 23rd!

Kvitravn (translation: White Raven) is the title track from Wardruna‘s next album, which will be released on January 22, 2021. French tour in April 2021. This impressive short film – directed by Ragnarok Films and captured in various locations in Norway and Russia – illustrates a powerful story centred on this sacred and elusive creature, symbol of this new record. Through the eye of this rare volatile one flies over a dramatic landscape, as rough as it is magnificent. Enchanting images that allow us to follow the quest of Wardruna founder Einar Selvik and singer Lindy Fay-Hella, traversing this wilderness. Superb!
DEWOLFF – Yes You Do
DeWolff are back with a video for a brand-new song Yes You Do, starring Ian Peres (ex-Wolfmother) and singer-songwriter Judy Blank. The new Wollpack album of the very nice Dutch is scheduled for February 5, 2021.
During the lockdown, the brothers Pablo and Luka van de Poel and their friend Robin Piso experimented with misty soundscapes, sparkling riffs accompanied by Hammond synth, infectious melodies, all in the psychedelic soul-funk spirit of DeWolff. With the modern powers of technology, several guests passed through the proverbial doors of the sessions. For “Yes You Do”, former Wolfmother bassist Ian Peres lays down a certain heaviness around the swirling fusion of the psychedelic trio and singer-songwriter Judy Blank joins with her voice.

LEVARA – Heaven Knows
Mascot announces the signing of this new “American” group LEVARA which already has special links with France! Heaven Knows is the first single from their future 1st album. THE LUKA STATE – FEEL IT

It’s no coincidence that Metallica has covered four tracks of this marvel: “Helpless”, “It’s Electric”, “The Prince”, and, of course, “Am I Evil?” Moreover, if you listen attentively to the first records of “Four Horsemen” and Megadeth, you realise how much Diamond Head had a major influence on these two bands … 40 years later, Brian Tatler wanted to give a second life to this first record by re-recording it with his current partners and thus bring the songs into the 21st century.
