BADFLOWER – 30
En France, on a découvert BADFLOWER en 2019 avec leur 1er album OK I’m sick, et bien sûr avec les 2 concerts sur les scènes parisiennes en Avril et en Novembre.
L’amour, la dépendance, la dépression, l’anxiété, la peur de vieillir, la cruauté envers les animaux, tous ces thèmes sont présents dans leur chansons grungy et blues rock abrasive. Si vous avez lu l’interview du groupe American, le frontman, le charismatique Josh Katz nous avez parlé de sa peur de vieillir.
Voilà qu’il vient de fêter ses 30 ans et marque cet évènement avec une nouvelle chanson simplement appelée « 30 ». C’est le 1er extrait d’un nouvel album prévu pour 2021.
Le clip nous montre le charismatique frontman angoissé de passer le cap de thirties mais finalement peut être pas tant que ça !! Let’s party !
LARKIN POE – Night In White Satin
Tandis que l’excellent l’album Self Made Man de LARKIN POE est sorti en Juin dernière etque le single Holy Ghost Fire est parti à la conquête des ondes sonores en France (tourne en boucle actuellement sur OUI FM et sur plusieurs stations de la Ferarock), les sœurs Lovell – Rebecca (chant, guitare) et Megan (harmonies vocales, lap steel guitar) – ont décidé de pallier le manque de concerts en enregistrant Kindred Spirits, un album de reprises acoustiques qui sortira le 20 Novembre (uniquement disponible en digital, les formats CD & vinyle étant eux seulement vendus via leur site).
Le premier extrait de ce disque est Night In White Satin, une magnifique reprise des Moody Blues,100% approuvée par Justin Hayward de Moody Blues.
Accompagnant la chanson un clip captivant qui présente des clips archivés et historiquement significatifs. « Lorsque nous étions en train de réfléchir à la création d’un compagnon visuel pour ‘ Nights In White Satin, nous avions l’idée romantique que la couture de vieilles séquences évoquerait un sentiment nostalgique qui correspond à l’ambiance de la chanson »

BON JOVI – Do What You Can
Bon Jovi sont de retour avec un 15 ème album qui s’intitule simplement 2020. Un album qui se distingue par ses paroles, profondément ancrés dans la réalité aujourd’hui : la pandémie mondiale, la douleur, la perte, la peur de coronavirus, les bouleversements vécus en Amérique causés par la mort de George Floyd, le mouvement Black Lives Matter, les fusillades en masse.
Limitless est une chanson rapide et accrocheuse typiquement Bon Jovi qui donne le ton pour un disque énergique et assez optimiste. Do What You Can parle de la pandémie et aussi de l’espoir When you can’t do what you do, you do what you can (« quand vous ne pouvez pas faire ce que vous faites, vous faites ce que vous pouvez »).
American Reckoning est une chanson sombre qui parle de discrimination raciale qui afflige l’histoire américaine. L’obscurité mélodique accompagne la voix de Jon fait écho et répète ‘I can’t breathe et Stay alive.
Beautiful Drug est une bonne chanson classique Bon Jovi, Blood in the Water est une belle balade bluesy, Let it Rain déploie elle aussi des jolies guitaresetparle de l’inégalité sociale et Lower The Flag parle des fusillades en Amérique. À la fin de la chanson Jon Bon Jovi récite les noms de toutes les villes qui ont subi des fusillades de masse.
Vous avez compris 2020 n’est pas vraiment un album joyeux, mais c’est un album qui marque cette époque tourmentée dans laquelle nous vivons. C’est une chronique de l’année 2020, un voyage émotionnel d’une grande qualité musicale.
The Dead Daisies – Bustle And Flow
Le Supergroup The Dead Daisies a sorti une vidéo animée pour le nouveau single Bustle And Flow, le deuxième single tiré de leur prochain album Holy Ground.
La vidéo qui donne des frissons a été réalisée par Creative Works London, qui a produit des graphiques de concert pour la tournée Not In This Lifetime de Guns N’Roses, et a été construite à l’aide d’Unreal Engine, le logiciel de jeu utilisé pour alimenter Fortnite, Gears Of War et Batman: Arkham City.
L’album Holy Ground qui sortira le 22 Janvier 2021 a été enregistré dans les studios La Fabrique dans le sud de la France avec le producteur Ben Grosse.

Dead Poet Society – .intoodeep.
Leur 1er album sera dispo début 2021, mais vous pouvez d’ores et déjà découvrir. Intoodeep., le nouveau single de Dead Poet Society.
Dead Poet Society s’est formée au Berklee College à Boston en 2015. Leur paysage musical s’étend de chansons plus heavy à des belles ballades. Leur son signature est créé par des guitares fretless et la voix extraordinaire du chanteur Jack Underkofler. Actuellement, le groupe réside dans le sud de la Californie.
L’année 2019 a vu Dead Poet Society profiter de sa percée aux États-Unis, propulsée par plus d’une douzaine de playlists sur Spotify et Apple et leurs performances en ouverture de la tournée d’automne de Badflower.
La musique du groupe a été présentée sur les playlists éditoriales de Spotify à plusieurs reprises, où ils comptent actuellement plus de 120 000 views et reçoivent plus de 500 000 flux chaque mois. En 2019, leur dernier single, « .swvrm. », a été placé sur la playlist Breaking Rock d’Apple Music, et le clip de la chanson a été présenté sur la page d’accueil de Loudwire.
Cette année, le groupe a enregistré son premier album pour le label Spinefarm Records d’Universal, aujourd’hui basé à New York. Intoodeep est le premier single et il sera suivi d’une succession de singles, menant à l’album de janvier 2021, préparant le terrain pour le retour du groupe en tournée.

Hermetic Delight – Glassdancers
F.A. Cult, le premier album de Hermetic Delight est sorti le 22 mai via October Tone. Quelques mois après la sortie de l’album, Hermetic Delight dévoile le clip de Glassdancers !
A la fin des années 2000 vivaient à Strasbourg quatre musiciens qui cherchaient un nom pour leur groupe. Ils aimaient bien Sioiuxie & The Banshees, Bauhaus, Depeche Mode, les Pixies, The Cure, Wire ou encore Sonic Youth, mais tous ces noms étaient déjà pris. Alors, ils décidèrent de s’appeler Hermetic Delight. Un nom qui claque sous la langue puis fond dans la bouche, comme leur musique entre violence post-punk et loopings mélodiques, plus délicieuse qu’hermétique.
F.A. Cult est leur premier album, après dix ans d’existence, trois ep’s et d’innombrables concerts.
Hermetic Delight a enregistré cet album avec Charles Rowell de Crocodiles à la production et avec l’amie Anna Calvi aux bons conseils. Désormais bien entouré, le groupe réinvente sa musique comme un alliage d’obscurité et de clarté, invoquant maintenant des comparaisons avec les Cocteau Twins, Chromatics, My Bloody Valentine ou Goldfrapp.
THE KILLS – Raise Me
Le duo explosif The Kills annonce la sortie de Little Bastards une compilation de raretés qui sera disponible le 11 Décembre 2020.
It’s been a long time coming… The Kills a réuni ses faces B et raretés sur une compilation retraçant son extraordinaire carrière. Les titres remontent aux premiers 45 tours du groupe, de 2002 à 2009. Disponible en double vinyle, CD et digital, tous les morceaux de Little Bastards ont été remasterisés pour l’occasion, marquant pour certains leur tout premier pressage vinyle.
La compilation comprend une démo inédite Raise Me datant de Midnight Boom, entre 2008 et 2009. Alison Mosshart et Jamie Hince ont produit et réalisé la saisissante vidéo de cette démo inédite.
Le titre de l’album est un commentaire ironique sur le sort de ces excellents enregistrements, souvent bruts, intimes et spontanés, ne nécessitant aucun budget. Dans de nombreux cas, ils sont nés à la volée pour les pistes bonus des singles puis ont disparu à la sortie de ces derniers.
Little Bastard est aussi le surnom affectueux que le duo avait donné à sa boîte à rythmes, qui lui a permis d’exister en tant que groupe pendant la première moitié de sa carrière. « C’était un Roland 880» raconte Jamie « qui n’est pas une boîte à rythmes à proprement parler – c’est un séquenceur et un enregistreur huit pistes avec une boîte à rythmes intégrée, c’est avec lui que nous enregistrions tous nos beats ».
Parmi les autres points forts de l’album, citons I Call It Art extrait de la compilation de reprises Monsieur Gainsbourg Revisited, le brillant titre bonus digital Night Train de Midnight Boom, l’interprétation époustouflante de Love Is A Deserter lors d’une session radio XFM et une poignée de classiques américains interprétés avec le genre incisif qui a fait la renommée du groupe : Forty Four de Howlin’ Wolfs, I Put A Spell on You de Screamin’ Jay Hawkins et Sugar Baby de Dock Boggs.

Love, addiction, depression, anxiety, fear of aging, cruelty to animals, all these themes are present in their grungy songs and abrasive blues rock. And if you read the interview with American band, the front man, the charismatic Josh Katz told us about his fear of getting old. Now he’s celebrated his 30th birthday and he is marking this event with a new song simply called “30”. This is the first single from a new album scheduled for 2021.

BON JOVI – Do What You Can
BON JOVI are back with a 15th album that is simply called 2020. An album that stands out for its lyrics, deeply rooted in today’s reality: the global pandemic, the pain, the loss, the fear of coronavirus, the upheavals experienced in America caused by the death of George Floyd, the Black Lives Matter movement and the mass shootings.
Limitless is a fast and catchy song typically Bon Jovi’s style that sets the tone for an energetic and quite optimistic record. Do What You Can talks about the pandemic and also about hope “When you can’t do what you want you do what you can”.
American Reckoning is a dark song about racial discrimination that afflicts American history. The melodic darkness accompanies Jon’s voice who repeats “I can’t breathe” and “Stay alive”.
Beautiful Drug is a good classic Bon Jovi song, Blood in the Water is a beautiful bluesy ride, Let it Rain deploys pretty guitars and talks about social inequality while Lower The Flag talks about mass shootings in America. At the end of the song Jon Bon Jovi recites the names of all the cities that have suffered mass shootings.
Maybe 2020 isn’t really a joyful album, but it’s an album that marks this tormented time in which we live. It is a chronicle of the year 2020, an emotional journey of great musical quality.
The Dead Daisies– Bustle And Flow
The supergroup The Dead Daisies release spooky animated video for new single Bustle And Flow, out of upcoming Holy Ground album.
The spooky animated video was made by Creative Works London, who produced concert graphics for Guns N’ Roses’ Not In This Lifetime tour, and was built using Unreal Engine, the gaming software used to power Fortnite, Gears Of War and Batman: Arkham City.

Here their story: At the end of the 2000s, four musicians were living in Strasbourg looking for a name for their band. It’s been a long time coming… The Kills has reunited their B-sides and rarities on a compilation tracing their extraordinary career. The titles date back to the first band’s 45 rpm dated from 2002 to 2009. Available in double vinyl, CD and digital, all of Little Bastards‘ tracks have been remastered for the occasion, marking for some their very first vinyl pressing.
The compilation includes a previously unreleased Raise Me demo from Midnight Boom, between 2008 and 2009. Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince produced and directed the stunning video for this unreleased demo.
The title of the album is an ironic commentary on the fate of these excellent recordings, often raw, intimate and spontaneous, requiring no budget. In many cases, they were born for bonus singles tracks and then disappeared upon their release. Little Bastard is also the affectionate nickname that the duo had given to their drum machine, which allowed them to exist as a band during the first half of his career. “It was a Roland 880,” says Jamie, “which is not a drum machine per se – it’s an eight-track sequencer and recorder with a built-in drum machine, it’s with it that we all recorded our beats.”
Other highlights of the album include I Call It Art from the cover compilation Monsieur Gainsbourg Revisited, the brilliant digital bonus track Night Train of Midnight Boom, the breathtaking rendition of Love Is A Deserter during an XFM radio session and a handful of American classics performed with the incisive genre that made the band famous Forty Four by Howlin’ Wolfs, I Put A Spell on You by Screamin’ Jay Hawkins and Sugar Baby by Dock Boggs.
