Shot Down – BRKN LOVE

Vous avez fait connaissance avec les Canadians de BRKN LOVE et leur album génialici, il y a quelques jours. Leur premier single l’explosif Shut Down révèle un rock énergique et brut, des fantastiques riffs abrasifs accompagnés de grands hurlements « Shot down in the bottom of the Valley ». Ce morceau déboite et nous fait penser à Led Zeppelin.

Working Class Hero – THE LAST INTERNATIONALE

Le duo new yorkais a dû repousser la sortie physique de leur album SOUL ON FIRE pour fin avril (mais toujours disponible sur les plateforme de téléchargement )  et leur retour en France cet été semble malheureusement compromis, pour les raisons qu’on connait.

Pour le moment, Edgey & Delila sont donc confinés non pas à New-York mais au Portugal, où ils bossent sur de nouvelles chansons et donnent régulièrement des concerts en ligne.

Body Parts – Love Fame Tragedy

Love Fame Tragedy  a sorti un nouvel EP intitulé “Five Songs to Briefly Fill The Void“, le 20 mars 2020.

Matthew “Murph” Murphy – guitariste et chanteur des Wombats revient donc avec un deuxième EP de son projet solo collectif Love Fame Tragedy. Après une liste impressionnante de collaborations sur son premier EP I Don’t Want To Play The Victim, But I’m Really –Murph a engagé cette fois Dan Smith, le frontman de Bastille, Eleanor Fletcher de Crystal Fighters et Maddi-Jean Waterhouse, son ancienne collaboratrice et nous offre 5 morceaux indie brit pop bien acidulés et dansantes.

‘Body Parts’ est remarquable avec son refrain vibrant et énergique, de guitares enflammées, et de percussions qui prennent aux tripes, ainsi que par des paroles subtilement confuses qui expriment le désarroi que peut apporter l’amour. La vidéo, réalisée par Tyler Cunningham, met l’accent sur la relation entre exhibitionnisme et voyeurisme à l’ère numérique.

Kubik – Tazieff  

Le Nouvel EP “Is This Natural» du trio parisien Tazieff  va sortir 24 avril.

Leur premier album « By The Kingdom » mixé par Peter Deimel (The Kills, Anna Calvi, Deus, etc.…) et largement salué par la critique, a fait découvrir au public ce groupe Parisien rare à la croisée entre cold wave, post punk et rock électrique. Tazieff défend son premier album sur la route, ils ouvrent notamment pour Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth) au festival BBMIX puis jouent au festival Chorus.

Kubik, le premier single extrait du prochain EP (sortie en avril sur Differ-Ant), annonce un EP éclectique et vivant.

Running With Wolves – Broken Witt Rebels

Si vous aimez Kings of Leon vous allez adorer Broken witt Rebels. Formé en 2015, les anglais ont sorti leur premier album éponyme en 2017 et tourné sans relâche les 2 années suivantes.

Leur deuxième album ‘OK Hotel’ sorti le 13 mars est mis en avant par des titres comme ‘Money’, ‘Caught In The Middle’, et ‘Fearless’. Avec des sonorités l’indie rock, des touches blues, soul et country, le groupe de Birmingham dévoile donc un deuxième album réussi avec une très bonne instrumentation, une voix sensuelle et profonde et des mélodies envoutantes. Certes, la ressemblance avec Kings of Leon est assez de déroutante, surtout la voix soyeuse du chanteur Danny Core vraiment similaire à celle du Caleb Followill, mais cela ne remet pas en question l’excellente qualité de leur compositions.

Running With Wolves est un morceau pop-rock catchy avec un rythme irrésistible et un refrain entrainant.

She’s A Self-Made Man – LARKIN POE

LARKIN POE est un duo formé par les sœurs Lovell : Rebecca (chant, guitare) et Megan (harmonies vocales, lap steel guitar), nées à Atlanta, mais basées depuis plusieurs années à Nashville.  4 albums déjà à leur actif, dont le dernier en date, « Venom & Faith », sorti en novembre 2018, leur a quand même valu d’être nommées aux GRAMMY® Awards dans la catégorie « Best Contemporary Blues Album », après être entré directement à la 1ère place du « Top Blues » du Billboard !

Multi instrumentistes talentueuses, Rebecca et Megan mêlent de fort belle manière rock, blues, gospel, bluegrass et country. Il en résulte une musique respectueuse des traditions qui, pourtant, sonne résolument moderne.

Produit par Rebecca et Megan elles-mêmes, enregistré par Roger Alan Nichols (Steven Tyler, Robben For, Elvis Costello) et intitulé « Self Made Man », le nouvel album de Larkin Poe sortira le 12 juin 2020. En attendant, découvrez l’excellent « She’s A Self Made Man », dont le titre et le texte sont tout un symbole. Vous allez adorer.

Quick Escape – Pearl Jam

Pearl Jam rompt enfin le long silence avec la sortie de Gigaton, le 27 mars 2020, le premier effort studio du groupe depuis Lightning Bolt sorti en 2013. Cet 11 ème album marque aussi 30 ans de carrière exemplaire du groupe légendaire de Seattle.

Gigaton rassemble des morceaux rocks très énergiques, des ballades épurées et pleines d’émotion. Il ya du sombre mais il y a aussi de l’espoir. Gigaton regorge des paroles mordantes et des thèmes politiques. Quick Escape est mon morceau favori. Lire la review ici

Bad Feeling – MUZZ

MUZZ, voilà un nouveau groupe formé par le frontman d’Interpol, Paul Banks. Le trio qui comprend aussi Josh Kaufman (le producteur et multi-instrumentiste du groupe folk Bonny Light Horseman) et Matt Barrick (batteur de Jonathan Fire-Eater, les Walkmen) vient de sortir deux chansons Bad Feeling et Broken Tambourine, deux ballades sombres et hypnotiques mise en vedette par la voix formidable de Paul Banks. Le chanteur- guitariste n’est pas à son premier projet en dehors d’Interpol – après ses albums solos sous son pseudo Julian Plenti et ou sous son vrais nom, le projet Banks & Steelz (le duo avec le rappeur, producteur RZA), le voilà cette fois s’attaquant à un trio et ce n’est que le début.

‘Caution’ – The Killers

Après une absence de trois ans, The Killers sont de retour avec le premier single ‘Caution’ extraitde leur très attendu prochain album Imploding The Mirage, prévu le 29 Mai 2020.

‘Caution’ est un hymne pop-rock avec des synthés puissantes et des frappes dynamiques. La chanson met en vedette un invité de marque, l’ancien guitariste de Fleetwood Mac, Lindsey Buckingham, avec un excellent solo de guitare qui clôture parfaitement la chanson et un Brandon Flowers, en grand forme et plus charismatique que jamais.

Après un album assez décevant, Wonderful Wonderful sorti 2017, ‘Caution’ renoue avec la passion et l’énergie de leur début. Nous attendons l’album avec impatience.

Ils seront en concert à Paris le 7 juillet à la Seine Musicale.

Careless – THE BLUE STONES

Après le très rock “Shakin’ Off The Rust”, The Blue Stones dévoilent un autre aspect de leur créativité avec leur nouveau single « Careless », un troisième extrait du nouvel album très attendu cette année.

Très sombre et sensuelle avec des influences RnB, “Careless” montre une nouvelle facette du groupe, mettant en avant la voix soul du chanteur Tarek Jafar, complétée par un mélange raffiné de claviers, guitares vibrantes et de caisses claires.

“Careless” fait suite au single remarqué “Shakin’ Off The Rust”, qui vient de dépasser les 7 millions d’écoutes dans le monde et qui a permis au groupe de faire une tournée nord-américaine à guichets fermés. Plus récemment, le duo a été nominé pour un prix JUNO dans la catégorie “Breakthrough Groupe de l’année”, ce qui a renforcé l’enthousiasme des fans et des critiques concernant leur prochain album.

This track is crazy craziness and reminds us of Led Zeppelin

Working Class Hero – THE LAST INTERNATIONALE

The New York duo had to postpone the physical release of their album SOUL ON FIRE for the end of April and their return to France this summer seems unfortunately compromised, for the reasons we know. For the moment, Edgey and Delila are confined in Portugal, where they work on new songs and give regular concerts online.

Love Fame Tragedy released a new EP entitled “Five Songs to Briefly Fill The Void”, on March 20, 2020

Matthew “Murph” Murphy – the guitarist and singer of the Wombats returns with a second EP of his collective solo project Love Fame Tragedy. After an impressive list of collaborations on his debut EP I Don’t Want To Play The Victim, But I’m Really -Murph has hired Dan Smith, the Bastille frontman, Eleanor Fletcher of Crystal Fighters and Maddi-Jean Waterhouse, his former collaborator and offers us 5 indie brit pop songs sparkling and dancing.

‘Body Parts’ with its vibrant and energetic chorus, fiery guitars, and gut-taking percussion, as well as subtly confused lyrics that express the dismay that love can bring. The video, directed by Tyler Cunningham, focuses on the relationship between exhibitionism and voyeurism in the digital era.

Their first album “By The Kingdom” mixed by Peter Deimel (The Kills, Anna Calvi, Deus, etc….) and widely acclaimed by critics made the public discover this rare Parisian band at the crossroads between cold wave, post punk and electric rock. Tazieff defended their first album on the road, opening for Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth) at the BBMIX festival and then played at the Chorus festival.

Running With Wolves – Broken Witt Rebels

If you love Kings of Leon you’ll adore Broken witt Rebels. Formed in 2015, they released their self-titled debut album in 2017 and toured relentlessly for the next 2 years. Their second album ‘OK Hotel’ released on 13 March is highlighted by great tracks such as ‘Money‘, ‘Caught In The Middle’, and ‘Fearless’. Sounds indie rock with blues, soul and country touches, The Birmingham band thus unveils a successful second album with a very good instrumentation, a sensual and deep voice and captivating melodies. Admittedly, the resemblance to Kings of Leon is quite confusing, especially the silky voice of the singer Danny Core really similar to that of Caleb Followill, but that does not interfere into the excellent quality of their sound. Running With Wolves is a catchy pop-rock track with an irresistible rhythm and a rousing chorus.

In the meantime, discover the excellent “She’s A Self Made Man“, whose title and text are quite a symbol. You’re going to love it.

Quick Escape – Pearl Jam

Pearl Jam finally breaks the long silence with the release of Gigaton on March 27, 2020, the band’s first studio effort since Lightning Bolt released in 2013. This 11th album also marks 30 years of exemplary career of the legendary Seattle band. Gigaton brings together very energetic rock tracks, refined ballads full of emotion. There is dark but there is also hope. Gigaton is full of caustic lyrics and political themes. Quick Escape is my favorite song. Read the review here

Bad Feeling – MUZZ

MUZZ, this is a new group formed by The Frontman of Interpol, Paul Banks. The trio that also includes Josh Kaufman (producer and multi-instrumentalist of the folk band Bonny Light Horseman) and Matt Barrick (drummer of Jonathan Fire-Eater, the Walkmen) has just released two songs Bad Feeling and Broken Tambourine, two dark and mesmerising ballads highlighted by the fantastic voice of Paul Banks. The singer-guitarist is not at his first project outside Interpol – after his solo albums under his pseudonym Julian Plenti and or under his real name, the project Banks and Steelz (the duet with the rapper and producer RZA), here it is a trio and this is just the beginning.

‘Caution’ – The Killers

After a three-year absence, The Killers are back with the first single ‘Caution‘ from their highly anticipated upcoming album Imploding The Mirage, out on May 29, 2020. ‘Caution’ is a pop-rock anthem with powerful synths and dynamic drims. The song features a special guest, the former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham, with an excellent guitar solo that perfectly closes the song and a Brandon Flowers, in great shape and more charismatic than ever. After a rather disappointing album, Wonderful Wonderful released 2017, ‘Caution’ restores the passion and rhythm of the debut of the ex- Las Vegas band, that become now a 3 pieces band.

We are looking forward to the album. They will be in concert in Paris on July 7 at the Seine Musicale.

Careless – THE BLUE STONES

After the very rock “Shakin’ Off The Rust”, The Blue Stones reveal another aspect of their creativity with their new single “Careless”, a third single from the highly anticipated new album out this year.
