INTERPOL RELEASE NEW SONG “SOMETHING CHANGED” 

La semaine dernière, Interpol a présenté Toni, le premier single de leur nouvel album The Other Side Of Make-Believe, qui sortira le 15 juillet 2022 sur Matador. La chanson était accompagnée du premier volet d’un film en deux parties réalisées par Van Alpert (Post Malone, Machine Gun Kelly), qui a depuis recueilli plus que 280000 vues sur YouTube. 

Aujourd’hui, le groupe New Yorkais publie la deuxième et dernière partie accompagnée par la nouvelle chanson Something Changed.

Something Changed continue l’histoire de Toni, où le chanteur Paul Banks observait un jeune couple impliqué dans une confrontation avec un gang de danseurs. Cette fois, il n’observe plus de loin, mais il s’engage au volant de sa voiture à la poursuite du couple d’amoureux nus et en fuite.

Banks a déclaré : « Dans Something Changed deuxième partie de notre court métrage avec Van Alpert, la réalité et la rêverie convergent et nos deux personnages principaux se retrouvent dans une sorte d’état de rêve – poursuivis inexorablement par une figure inquiétante (jouée par moi-même.) Les vies des trois sont entrelacées dans une nébuleuse de peur, de châtiment, de désir et de défi. Qui recevra la récompense ? Restez à l’écoute et découvrez »

Le réalisateur Van Alpert déclare : « Paul et moi aimons l’idée que ‘Something Changed’ serait comme un rêve. C’est comme si nos deux personnages principaux se réveillaient de ce qui s’était passé dans ‘Toni’ et que leurs vies étaient irrémédiablement différentes. Ils sont maintenant en fuite d’une force sombre qui est un peu plus primaire et envahissante »

Si Toni qui est plutôt rythmé et entêtant Something Changed est un morceau plutôt calme, sombre et  poétique, mettant en valeur les notes caressants de piano et la voix mélancolique de Banks.”I waded through shame for this /Are you there?/Everyday I’d see if chance was calling/ Are you here?”

Last week, INTERPOL presented Toni, the first single from their new album The Other Side Of Make-Believe, to be released on July 15, 2022 on Matador.

The song was accompanied by the first video of a two-part film directed by Van Alpert (Post Malone, Machine Gun Kelly), counting since the release more than 280,000 views on YouTube.  

Today, the New York band releases the second and final part of the film accompanied by the new song Something Changed.

Something Changed continues to the story of Toni, where the singer Paul Banks observed a young couple involved in a confrontation with a gang of dancers. This time, he no longer observes from afar, but he gets behind the wheel of his car in pursuit of the couple of naked and fleeing lovers.

Paul Banks says: “In ‘Something Changed,’ part two of our short film with Van Alpert, reality and reverie converge and our two lead characters find themselves in a kind of dream state – being pursued inexorably by an ominous figure (played by myself.) The lives of the three are intertwined in a nebula of fear, retribution, desire, and defiance. Who will receive their just deserts? Stay tuned and find out.”

Director Van Alpert says: “Paul and I like the idea that ‘Something Changed’ would be like a dream. It’s as if our two main characters wake up from what happened in ‘Toni’ and their lives are irreparably different. They are now on the run from some dark force that is a bit more primal and encroaching.”

If Toni which is rather rhythmic and catchy, Something Changed is a rather calm, dark and poetic, highlighting the caressing notes of piano and the melancholic voice of Banks.
