JIRFIYA – House of Poison
JIRFIYA est un groupe de métal mélodique formé par des musiciens de différentes origines, Ingrid D (OSCIL) à la voix et deux anciens membres du Born from Lie, Jérôme T (guitares et voix) et Pascal D (Bass Guitar).
Leur premier Ep, Wait for Dawn, produit au Hybreed Studios et salué par la critiqué, sort en 2019. Les 5 titres portent en eux l’urgence et l’indignation face à la noirceur du monde et une actualité toujours plus révoltante.
Still Waiting est le premier album sorti en novembre dernier et toujours enregistré au Hybreed Studios. Désormais un quatuor avec l’arrivée de Nicolas D à la batterie, les français développent un son très varié, avec de riffs percutants, des mélodies accrocheuses avec en première ligne la superbe voix d’Ingrid.

LIZZARD – Blowdown
Le groupe de rock français LIZZARD sortira son nouvel album intitulé Eroded, le 19 février 2021 via Pelagic Records.
Le son de LIZZARD est complexe et efficace, un melting-pot de riffs énergiques, de heavy groove et des lignes vocales accrocheuses.
Formé en 2006, lorsque Katy Elwell (batterie), William Knox (Bass)et Mathieu Ricou (vocal et guitare) se sont rencontrés et ont découvert qu’ils partageaient une vision commune de la musique, LIZZARD a rapidement entrepris de travailler sur leur son avec pour mission de trouver leur propre approche idiosyncrasique de la musique rock contemporaine – une musique qui fait confiance au passé sans le romancer.
Le groupe a sorti un EP – VENUS en 2008 et 3 albums OUT OF REACH (2012), MAJESTIC (2014), SHIFT (2018).
Capturé au cours d’un long mois d’isolement volontaire dans les légendaires Castle Studios en Allemagne, le 4eme album Eroded apporte la lumière au bout du tunnel proverbial. Plus d’infos bientôt!
Nothing but Real- We are Nothing but Real
Nothing but Real est un groupe de rock alternatif originaire de Paris. Le groupe a été formé en 2018 et rassemble 4 musiciens : Hanta (chant), Tom (guitare), Eghan (batterie) et Victor (basse).
Leur premier album éponyme sorti en Juillet 2020 est une très belle découverte. Rock mélodique élaboré, influencé par divers styles musicaux comme la fusion, le rock alternatif, le stoner, le grunge, le heavy métal et les musiques de films.
Complétés par un riche univers visuel, inspiré de mangas et des bandes dessines, ils ont créé plusieurs personnages pour raconter leurs histoires dont l’avatar Sakar qui incarne l’attraction des contraires : noir et blanc, haine et amour ou ombre et lumière…
Ce premier album dévoile 7 titres puissantes et efficaces rangés dans un ordre bien précis allant du démon à la rédemption. Comme une forme de thérapie à la folie. Le 7 comme théorie esthétique d’un ordre mystique. Une clé importante pour la compréhension de notre monde en matière d’harmonie.
Guitares énergiques, section rythmique bien ficelé, voix incroyablement séduisante et intense de la chanteuse Hanta, on découvre des sonorités douces et cinématographiques (My Daemon, We Are Nothing but Real) mais aussi des morceaux plus énervés (Angels Cry, Insanity, Therapy Toy). Un groupe à découvrir.
OUT5IDE –9 am
OUT5IDE joue un rock Skin-Deep… Quelque part entre le dernier BOWIE et un PINK FLOYD moderne, les cinq expérimentent depuis 2014 des montagnes russes musicales de prog à indie, du jazz au punk pour suivre leur propre ligne…
Après NAKED en 2016, le groupe a sorti un nouvel album, Tumbleweeds (M&O MUSIC Label), le 25 septembre 2020, produit par Stéphane BONACCI (Cock Robin, One Armed Man) et masterisé par Robin SCHMIDT, récemment nommé aux Grammy Awards.
Les guitares sont intenses et inspirantes, la basse est agressive, la batterie percutante et la voix est belle et attachante. L’album dévoile des ambiances atmosphériques ou plus tranchantes qui oscillent entre rage et douceur, entre angoisse et optimisme.
Tumbleweeds révèle une vision introspective de notre quotidien, observe les psychoses collectives et les désirs de libertés individuelles.

ALPHA BLANK – Hold your fire
Formé en 2017, Alpha Blank est un groupe de métal alternatif originaire de Nice en France. Grâce à leurs influences communes, les quatre membres Julien (batterie) Chester (guitare), Max (chant et guitare rythmique), Sandra (basse) s’unissent avec la volonté d’offrir une nouvelle énergie singulière et efficace.
L’album Life in 2 pièces (M&O MUSIC Label) est disponible depuis octobre 2020.
Leurs influences synthétisent un métal des plus groovy avec un touché hard rock des plus rageur afin d’offrir un mélange intense de mélodies hard n ‘heavy. Alternant entre riffs power et heavy, passant d’ambiances progressives vers atmosphériques, sans jamais basculer dans l’extrême, l’auditeur et le spectateur prendront plaisir à expérimenter leur son et leur spectacle à travers un voyage de feu et de glace !
Hold your fire, 150 et Dawn attirent notre attention par leur efficacité et dynamisme avec des riffs musclés et rythmique puissante, Blue girl baby et What it Means par leur classic et intemporel Rock N’ Roll vibe.
HOLY DOXA – A Maze
Holy Doxa c’est l’histoire de deux amis qui ont commencé à composer à 1800km de distance et décidé de monter un groupe un fois réuni à Marseille.
Désormais un trio, dans leurs compositions on ressent la rencontre entre la mélancolie de Jeff Buckley, la puissance de Muse et l’énergie des Red Hot Chili Peppers … Les textes essaient de questionner les auditeurs (et auteurs) sur le rapport à nos propres pensées, le libre arbitre, la pensée de masse entre autres.
Après un premier EP Overdue Greetings sorti en 2017, le groupe a sorti leur premier album Puzzle Therapy en Novembre 2020 chez M & O Music (Label)
Des sonorités psychédéliques qui se mêlent à des riffs rock énergiques, voix pleine d’émotion, des mélodies catchy, chaleureuses et funky, décidément ce premier album se distingue par sa diversité.

NO TERROR IN THE BANG –Uncanny
No Terror in The Bang est un groupe de Métal Alternatif & Immersif. Il tisse sa toile entre fragilité et fureur, clair-obscur. Un beau mix des sonorités puissantes ravageuse et une douce mélancolie. Une rencontre entre le rock énervé, les musiques classiques, le rap et le cinéma.
Le groupe a été fondé par Alexis Damien (Composition, batterie, production) et Sofia Bortoluzzi (Chant, composition, paroles), à Rouen, en mars 2019 rejoint par Romain Greffe (Claviers & Piano), Brice Bouchard (Basse & Contrebasse), Etienne Cochin (Guitare), Clément Bernard (Guitare)
Le nom du groupe fait référence à une phrase d’Alfred Hitchcock, évoquant le calme avant la tempête et la tension de ses films.“There is no terror in the bang, only in the anticipation of it”
Les morceaux du groupe alternent entre rêves et cauchemars, turbulence et frénésie. Un son hypnotique et une voix fabuleuse et envoutante.
NTITB évoque Deftones, Pain of Salvation, System of a Down, Faith no More, Muse, Korn, Devin Townsend, Metallica, Jazmin Bean, Poppy, Skunk Anansie, RATM. Les passages cinématographiques trouvent leurs influences chez des compositeurs de musique de film : Hildur Gudnadottir, Johann Jóhannsson, Danny Elfmann, Bernard Hermann, mais aussi chez des compositeurs classiques : Saint Saëns, Ravel, Stravinsky, Satie.
Les français ont sorti 3 singles entre fin 2019 et 2020. Le premier album intitulé Eclosion sortira le 5 mars sur le label M&O, distribué par Season of Mist.
GRANDMA’S ASHES – Daddy Issues
On a parlé le mois dernier de trio féminin GRANDMA’S ASHES. Voilà que leur d’un premier EP, THE FATES vient de sortir le 15 janvier 2021 et c’est vraiment une pépite. Donc, on en reparle!
A la croisée du rock progressif et du stoner enrichi par de éléments psychédéliques 70s, les trois rockeuses affirment leur identité sonore à travers 5 morceaux qui affichent une palette sonore varié et sophistiqué. De riff lourds efficaces, soutenus par une bonne section rythmique et une voix claire et mélodieuse, des structures changeantes et complexes et des ambiances tantôt aériennes et planantes tantôt cadencés et tranchantes, ce premier Ep est un excellent démarrage. Un groupe qui promet beaucoup ! GIRL POWER ! On en demande plus !
SLEAZYZ – March Of Death
Et pour finir cette première sélection musicale de l’année plongeons dans l’univers sombre, fantastique et divertissant de SLEAZYZ. Groupe français de d’horror metal, SLEAZYZ est né de la fascination pour le métal, le glam, le punk et le sleaze des années 80 (version Sunset Strip) et le cinéma d’horreur des années 50 aux années 90.
Leur nouvel album est sorti en Novembre 2020 : au programme : du rock punchy, du métal industriel, des riffs effrénées et démoniques, une rythmique de tonnerre, une voix rocailleuse et des cris cauchemardesques… bref vous avez compris… March Of Death est un album terriblement efficace et cinématographique. JIRFIYA – House of Poison

LIZZARD – Blowdown
The French rock band LIZZARD will release their new album Eroded on February 19, 2021 via Pelagic Records.
The sound of LIZZARD is complex and effective, a melting pot of energetic riffs, heavy groove and catchy vocal lines. Nothing but Real- We are Nothing but Real
Nothing but Real is an alternative rock band from Paris, France. The band was formed in 2018 and brings together 4 musicians: Hanta (vocals), Tom (guitar), Eghan (drums) and Victor (bass). Their self-titled debut album released in July 2020 is a very nice discovery.
Elaborate melodic rock, influenced by various musical styles such as fusion, alternative rock, stoner, grunge, heavy metal and movie music. Complemented by a visual universe, inspired by manga and comic strips, they created several characters to tell their stories including the avatar Sakar who embodies the attraction of opposites: black and white, hatred and love or shadow and light…
This debut album reveals 7 powerful and effective tracks in a precise order ranging from the demon to redemption. Like a therapy to madness. The number 7 as an aesthetic theory of a mystical order. An important key to understand our world in terms of harmony.

After NAKED in 2016, the band released a new album, Tumbleweeds (M-O MUSIC Label), on September 25, 2020, produced by Stéphane BONACCI (Cock Robin, One Armed Man) and mastered by Robin SCHMIDT, recently nominated for the Grammy Awards.
The guitars are intense and inspiring, the bass is aggressive, the drums are powerful and the voice is beautiful and endearing. The album reveals atmospheric or sharper moods that oscillate between rage and sweetness, between anxiety and optimism. Tumbleweeds reveals an introspective vision of our daily lives, observes collective psychoses and desires for individual freedoms.

Formed in 2017, Alpha Blank is an alternative metal band from Nice, France. Thanks to the same influences, the four members Julien (drums) Chester (guitar) Max (vocals and rhythm guitar), Sandra (bass) unite with the desire to offer a new singular and effective energy.
The album Life in 2 pieces (M-O MUSIC Label) is available since October 2020. Their influences synthesize a groovy metal with a furious hard rock touch to offer an intense mix of hard n ‘heavy melodies. Alternating between power and heavy riffs, moving from progressive to atmospheric ambiences, without ever falling into the extreme, the listener and the viewer will enjoy experiencing their sound and their spectacle through a journey of fire and ice!

HOLY DOXA – A Maze
Holy Doxa is the story of two friends who started composing 1800km away and decided to form a band once reunited in Marseille. GRANDMA’S ASHES – Daddy Issues
We talked in December about the girl’s trio GRANDMA’S ASHES. Their first EP, THE FATES is available since on January 15, 2021 is really a gem. At the crossroads of progressive rock and stoner enriched by psychedelic elements 70s, the three rockers assert their sonic identity through 5 tracks that reveal a varied and sophisticated sound palette. Effective heavy riffs, supported by a good rhythm section and a clear and melodious voice, changing and complex structures, atmospheres sometimes airy and hovering sometimes very sharp, this first Ep is an excellent debut of a 3 piece gril band that promises a lot! Girl Power! We’re asking for more!
SLEAZYZ – March Of Death
Let’s finish this playlist with the dark, fantastic and entertaining world of SLEAZYZ. French band of horror metal, SLEAZYZ was born out of the fascination with metal, glam, punk and sleaze of the 80s (Sunset Strip version) and horror cinema from the 50s to the 90s.
Their new album was released in November 2020: on the program: punchy rock, industrial metal, demonic energetic riffs, a crazy rhytmic section, a raspy voice and nightmarish screams…March Of Death is a terribly effective and cinematic album. To follow…
