BADFLOWER -Thrilled Show at La Boule Noire, Paris -16.11.2019

La petite salle de La Boule Noire à Paris était pleine à craquer le samedi, 16 novembre 2019, pour le concert de BADFLOWER. De retour à Paris seulement 7 mois après leur show à La Maroquinerie, les californiens ont depuis cumulés plusieurs numéros 1 dans les charts rock américains avec leur album Ok, I am sick sorti en février et les les singles The Jester et Heroin, (cette dernière à écouter en boucle sur OUI FM).

La soirée affichait donc SOLD OUT, comme d’ailleurs des nombreuses dates européennes. Et ce soir, les américains ne sont pas venus seuls, mais bien accompagnés. D’abord par le combo Deal Casino, une formation de rock alternatif embarquée à la dernière minute sur la tournée en Europe, une histoire drôle qui nous raconte le très sympathique chanteur Joe Parella. Et ils font bien chauffer la salle avec leur mélodies peps et énergique mais, ils s’excusent qu’ils n’ont pas trop de merchandising faute à ce départ dernière minute.

Suivent les anglais de Broken Hands qui pratiquent un rock moderne avec quelques accents de rock progressif. Un petit air de Royal Blood (pas étonnant car leur album est mixé par Tom Dalgety qui a travaillé avec le duo anglais). Mélodies percutantes, guitares électrisantes, voix puissante, longues chevelures, les 5 garçons de Canterburry convainquent largement le public. Une excellente découverte.

Enfin, c’est le tour de BADFLOWER qui commence le show avec un peu de retard suite à quelques problèmes techniques qui les poursuivons pendant tout le show.

Josh Katz (chant, guitare), Alex Espiritu (bass), Anthony Sonetti (batterie), Joey Morrow (guitare) démarrent avec Wide Eyes suivi par l’explosive x ANA x. La puissance est déjà au maximum et le public est enthousiaste et connaisseur.

Die sera interprétée avec beaucoup de passion et panache, l’audience donnant une réponse énergique. Le groupe semble plus qu’heureux. Enchainements de headbangings, sauts endiablés, les musiciens sont en grande forme et le show se déroule sans aucun temps mort.

Beaucoup d’émotion avec la poignante Moved Me interprétée par Josh, d’abord en acoustique, rejoint à la fin par ses acolytes.

2 heureux fans brandissant les mêmes pancartes (Can I play Guitar on Animal ?) seront invités à jouer à la guitare sur le titre demandé et s’en sortiront plutôt bien, tandis que Josh profite pour s’offrir un petit bain de foule. Girlfriend recevra un accueil très chaleureux et le solo batterie d’Anthony Sonetti fera de ravages.

Pour clôturer la soirée, les magnifiques Heroin, Ghost et Promise Me. Sourires et regards complices, Josh est très ému en observant le foule qui connait les paroles par chœur et chante avec passion.

BADFLOWER nous régale ce soir d’un concert très intimiste qui dégage une intense émotion et une extraordinaire énergie.

Un chant remarquable, des guitares rugissantes, des musiciens bourrés de talent, sincérité et passion. Un groupe qui a beaucoup de raisons pour faire de la musique. Un rock viscéral qui nous envahit avec toutes ses forces. Fantastique accueil du public.

The small venue of La Boule Noire in Paris was crowded on Saturday, November 16, 2019, for the BADFLOWER concert. Back to Paris only 7 months after their concert at La Maroquinerie, the Californians have since accumulated several numbers 1 in the American Rock Charts with their album Ok, I am sick released last February and the singles The Jester and Heroin (the latter one can be listening on repeat on OUI FM).

The evening thus was SOLD OUT, as many of their European dates. And tonight, the Americans didn’t come alone, but in good company. First by Deal Casino, an alternative rock band embarked at the last minute on the European tour, a funny story that tells us the very nice singer Joe Parella. And they heat the room with their energetic melodies but, they apologize that they do not have too much merchandising because of this last-minute departure.

The English of Broken Hands followed, practising modern rock with a few progressive rock accents. A little air of Royal Blood (no surprise as their album is mixed by Tom Dalgety who worked with the English duo). Striking melodies, electrifying guitars, powerful voice, long hair, the 5 boys from Canterburry had no difficulty to conquer the audience. A great discovery.

Finally, it is the turn of BADFLOWER that starts the show with a small delay due to some technical problems that pursue them throughout the show. Josh Katz (vocals, guitar), Alex Espiritu (bass), Anthony Sonetti (drums), Joey Morrow (guitar) start with Wide Eyes followed by the explosive x ANA x. The power is already at its maximum and the public is enthusiastic.

Die will be performed with great passion and the audience gives an energetic response. The band seems more than happy. Frantic headbangings, frenzied jumps, the musicians are in great shape and the show takes place without any dead time.

A lot of emotion with the poignant Moved Me performed by Josh alone, first in acoustics then joined at the end by his acolytes.

2 happy fans holding the same signs (Can I play Guitar on Animal?) will be invited to play guitar on the requested track and will do rather well, while Josh takes the opportunity to do a short jump into the crowd. Girlfriend will receive a very warm welcome and Anthony Sonetti’s will perform a powerful drum solo.

To close the evening, the magnificent emotional Heroin, Ghost and Promise Me. Smiles and eyes contact, Josh is very moved watching the crowd who knows the lyrics by heart and sing along with passion.

BADFLOWER offer us a very intimate show tonight – intense emotion and extraordinary energy. Remarkable singing, electrifying guitars, musicians full of talent, sincerity and passion. A band that has a lot of reasons to make music. A visceral rock that invade us with all its strength. Fantastic audience.
