Depuis leur premier album « Lipstick on the Mirror » sorti il y a 10 ans, Pop Evil a constamment perfectionné et mûri leur son, en cherchant le mix parfait entre leur deux facettes musicales : la pop et la heavy metal.
Le 5 ème opus qui sort le 16 février 2018, intitulé simplement « Pop Evil » est la prévue qu’ils l’ont trouvé.
Le groupe de Michigan: Leigh Kakaty (chant), Dave Grahs (guitare et chant), Nick Fuelling (guitare, chœurs), Matt Di Rito (basse, chœurs) et Hayley Cramer (batterie) délivre un album sans faute, une collection de 11 incroyable morceaux, soigneusement choisis parmi 30 démos.
Un hard rock puissant, des refrains mega accrocheurs, des guitares bourdonnantes, de belles mélodies, des beats électroniques et métalliques, « Pop Evil » est une renaissance musicale.
Enregistré entre Nashville et Los Angeles, avec le célèbre producteur Kato Kwandwala (Blondie, My Chemical Romance), le quintet a eu cette fois plus de temps pour bien travailler et arriver ainsi au son qu’ils ont toujours voulu obtenir.
Chant rock fort et agressif (Waking Lions), rappé (Color Bleed, Art Of War) – en nous rappelant que Rage Against the Machine est le groupe avec qui le frontman Leigh Kakatay a grandi – ou mélancolique (Rewind), des hymnes dynamiques et accrocheurs (Be Legendary, When We Were Young, A Crime to Remember) introduisant des accords de piano, des cordes, ou des sonorités tribales et électroniques (Nothing But Thieves), l’album est une condensation massive de morceaux frais et énergiques à faire tourner en boucle et au volume maximal dans nos casques.
Lyriquement, le message est plus émotionnel, poignant et politiquement engagé et enragé, le frontman abordant des sujets tels que le capitalisme, l’humanité, l’hypocrisie, les événements actuels aux États-Unis ou dans le monde.
Conclusion : Pop Evil montre haut et fort qu’ils peuvent exceller dans tous les registres musicaux abordés.
A ce jour, le meilleur Pop Evil. A écouter en toute urgence.

The Michigan based band: Leigh Kakaty (vocals), Dave Grahs (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Nick Fuelling– (lead guitar, backing vocals), Matt Di Rito (bass, backing vocals), Hayley Cramer(Drums) deliver a flawless killer album, a collection of 11 amazing songs selected from 30 demos.
High quality loud hard rock sound, mega catchy choruses, beautiful melodies, crunchy powerful guitars, electronic beats and metal alternative rhythms, “Pop Evil” is a musical rebirth.
Recorded between Nashville and Los Angeles with the famous producer Kato Kwandwala (Blondie, My Chemical Romance) the quintet has more time to work hard on this album and find the sound they always wanted to have.
Aggressive strong rock vocals (Waking Lions), rapping vocal style (Colour Bleed, Art Of War) -reminding that Rage Against the Machine was the band with whom the front man Leigh Kakatay grew up- melancholic heart-breaking sound (Rewind), catchy anthems (“Be Legendary “, “When we were young”, “A Crime to Remember”) introducing piano lines, lovely backing vocals, strings, tribal electronic beats and melodic chorus (Nothing but Thieves), the album is a massive condensation of tracks to listen to loud and heavy.
Lyrically, the record is emotional, poignant, political engaged and enraged, the frontman talking about capitalism, humanity, hypocrisy, current events in US or in the world.
