It’s All for Rock ‘N’ Roll – AIRBOURNE at Olympia, Paris -10.10.2017

Since the release of their 4th album Breakin’ Outta Hell in 2016, the Australians of AIRBOURNE performed a multitude of concerts and festivals around the world.

Last week, it was the turn of Olympia in Paris, to welcome these worthy heirs of AC ⚡DC and the brothers O’Keeffe, Joel – (vocals & guitar) and Ryan (drums) accompanied by Matt ‘Harri’ Harrison (guitar) and Justin Street (bass), set on fire the legendary venue with a breath-taking gig.

Quick summary:

Terminator 2 lines as introduction and the show starts with the explosive Ready to Rock. The man of the evening, the Incredible Joel: happy, smiling, buzzing with energy is unstoppable, heating the audience from the very first song. Master of his Gibson guitar, he jumps, twists, kneels, dives in the crowd or climbs up to the balcony.

The atmosphere is crazy craziness – really need to see it to understand better what I mean. The energy, the power of this band playing live is absolutely fantastic.

Devilish riffs, insane drums, the songs keep coming one after another incessantly: Too Much Too Young Too fast, Rivalry, Girls in Black, Breakin’ Outta Hell, It’s All for Roll N’ Roll, fans sing along … 1 h 30 of pure madness until the last track Runnin’ Wild.

The singer, shirtless, is sweating so much that a mediator left glued on his skin. The party’s is accompanied by beer and Jack + Coke cocktails. Joel distributes or rather throw glasses in the audience. Several times, he spilled beer cans over his head (yeah, it is well known that beer makes the hair soft and shiny, but I doubt very much that he was thinking about hair care…).

14 incendiary songs, raging hard rock rhythms, sirens (for Live it Up), frenzied headbanging at will, a stunning show, exciting from the beginning to the end.

Paris, Keep Rock‘N’ Roll Alive – Joel reminds us several times and obviously, we left this unforgettable evening with this message in mind.

Depuis la sortie de leur excellent 4ème album Breakin’ Outta Hell en 2016, les rockeurs Australiens d’AIRBOURNE ont enchaîné une multitude des concerts et des festivals.

La semaine dernière, c’était le tour de d’Olympia à Paris, d’accueillir ces dignes héritiers d’AC⚡ DC et les frères O’Keeffe, Joel – (chant & guitare) et Ryan (batterie) accompagnées par Matt ‘Harri’ Harrison à la guitare et Justin Street à la basse, ont carrément enflammé la salle mythique avec un concert époustouflant.

Petit résumé : Terminator 2 en intro, les quatre garçons arrivent sur scène et le show démarre avec l’explosive Ready to Rock.

L’homme de la situation, l’incroyable Joel : joyeux, souriant, véritable pile électrique, cours dans tous les sens, en entrainant avec lui le public surchauffé dès le premier morceau. Maitrise imparable de la guitare, il saute, se tord, s’agenouille, émerge dans la foule ou monte au balcon.

L’ambiance est délirante – Il faut vraiment le voir pour comprendre de quoi je parle. L’énergie, la force que le groupe dégage en live est fantastique.

Des riffs ravageurs, les titres s’enchainent sans aucun répit pour les musiciens ou le public Too Much Too Young Too fast, Rivalry, Girls in Black, Breakin’ Outta Hell or It’s All for Rock ‘n’ Roll, les fans reprend les chansons en cœur… 1 h 30, une folie furieuse jusqu’au dernier morceau Runnin’ Wild.

Le chanteur, torse nu, est tellement transpiré qu’un médiator reste collé sur sa peau. La fête est à la bière et aux cocktails Jack + Coca. Joel distribue ou plutôt jette des gobelets dans le public.

Plusieurs fois, il fait couler des canettes de bière sur sa tête (bah oui, c’est bien connu que la bière rend les cheveux doux et brillants, même si je doute très fort qu’il pensait aux soins capillaires).

14 chansons incendiaires, hard rock déchainé, sirènes d’alerte (pour Live it Up), head banging frénétique à volonté, un show de dingue, passionnant de bout en bout.

Paris, Keep Rock N Roll Alive –Joel nous rappelle plusieurs fois dans la soirée et forcement, c’est avec ce message en tête qu’on quitte cette soirée inoubliable.
