Blondie’s new album, Pollinator, to be released on 5th of May 2017

Forty years now that Blondie, made its debut at the legendary club CBGB’s in the East Village, New York and here they are, announcing their eleventh studio album, Pollinator, due on May 5th 2017 via BMG.

The first single “Fun” released yesterday sounds like a refreshing, joyful and catchy blend of new wave, pop, electro but that however keeps some retro airs that send us back at their original late seventies successful tunes.

Produced by John Congleton (St. Vincent, David Byrne) and recorded in New York studio, The Magic Shop, the album is showing an impressive number of collaborators.

The core trio of original members -singer Debbie Harry, guitarist Chris Stein and drummer Clem Burke are joined by Johnny Marr (The Smiths), Sia, Dev Hynes (Blood Orange), Joan Jett, Charli XCX, Dave Sitek (TV On The Radio) and  Nick Valensi (The Strokes). Promising, isn’t it?

And this is not all, the genius street artist, illustrator and designer Shepard Fairy join for the album artwork in his own original style – a  bee flower in black, white and red absolutely amazing.

Already, in December 2016, the icon Debbie Harry and the artist have been revealed their project of collaboration for designing the “Obey”(Fairy’s campaign) clothing line out for next fall.

So, excited!!!!

Voila quarante ans que le groupe Blondie a fait ses débuts au club légendaire CBGB dans l’East Village à New York et voilà, qu’ils annoncent leur onzième album studio, Pollinator, à paraitre le 5 mai 2017 chez BMG.

Le premier single, FUN , sorti hier est un mélange rafraîchissant, joyeux et entraînant de la new wave, pop et electro qui garde aussi  un certain air rétro qui nous envoie en arrière vers leur origines fin 70s .

Produit par John Congleton (Saint-Vincent, David Byrne) et enregistré dans le studio New-Yorkais, The Magic Shop, l’album affiche un nombre impressionnant de collaborateurs.

Le trio des membres originaux-la chanteuse Debbie Harry, le guitariste Chris Stein et le batteur Clem Burke sont ainsi rejoints par by Johnny Marr (The Smiths), Sia, Dev Hynes (Blood Orange), Joan Jett, Charli XCX, Dave Sitek (TV On The Radio) et Nick Valensi (The Strokes). Prometteur, non ?

Et ce n’est pas tout, le génial illustrateur, designer et street artist, Shepard Fairy cree l’art work  de l’album dans son propre style original– une abeille fleur noire sur fond blanc et rouge absolument incroyable.

Il faut dire aussi que déjà, en décembre 2016, l’icône Debbie Harry et le graffeur avaient révélé leur projet de collaboration pour la création d’une ligne de vêtements « Obey » (la campagne de Fairey) en vente cet automne.
