Texas is back with a new album, “Jump on Board” a title that sounds like an invitation to embark on their pop disco electro and festive universe.
In thirty years of career, Sharleen Spiteri & CO offered us huge hits like Summer Son, Say What You Want, I don’ want a lover, Black Eyed Boy or the more recent The Conversation so, I was looking forward to discover this 9th record of the beloved British Band.
Well, the first listen is captivating, the second and the third ones even more: the ten tracks are happy, melodic and fun. Texas keeps the same characteristic: living and positive style.
“Life’s too short, let’s work it out” said the chorus of the first single “Let’s work it out”: a very contagious dancing track.
The video is also euphoric, with Thierry Henry, the football legend, who led the duo through urban landscapes saturated neon to a disco paradise celebrating life.
“Can’t Control” the second track is definitely, my favourite song of the album: an electropop spellbinding and dazzling sound, while the beautiful “For Everything” is a mesmerizing strings crescendo.
“Tell That Girl” and “Great Romances” – energetic and disco sound, bring us on the dance floor and smell like sunny holidays, while the romantic ballad “Won’t Let You Down” offers us a very pretty and touching sentimental incursion.
Beautiful guitars, the awesome Sharleen Spiteri’s velvet voice, Texas is always on the top of his art. Sharleen and his musical soulmate, Johnny McElhone, both authors passionate and inventive, always keep the same creative energy.
Jump on Board is a glorious, eclectic album, classic and modern at the same time. An album that gives off a feeling of freedom, love and joy of living.
Even though Sharleen says that “this album speaks of aging”, it offers us a fresh, new and soothing sound. A new beginning for a band with 40 million albums sold worldwide and that continues to renew itself constantly. A British success story far from over.

Texas est de retour avec un nouvel album, « Jump on Board » un titre qui sonne comme une invitation à embarquer dans leur univers disco pop électro, léger et festif.
En trente ans de carrière, Shaleene Spiteri et sa bande, nous ont offert de énormes hits comme Summer Son, Say What You Want, I don’t want a lover, Black Eyed Boy ou le plus récent The Conversation donc évidemment, on attendait avec impatience le 9ème opus du groupe britannique.
Eh bien, la première écoute s’avère captivante, la deuxième et la troisième encore plus : les dix titres sont joyeux et plein d’entrain. Texas garde toujours leur un style caractéristique : vivant, positif et mélodieux.
« Life’s too short, Let’s work it out » [La vie est trop courte, trouvons une solution] dit le refrain du premier single extrait « Let’s work it out » : très dansant et contagieux.
La vidéo est elle aussi euphorique, avec Thierry Henry, la légende du football, qui conduit le duo à travers des paysages urbains saturés de néons vers un paradis disco célébrant la vie.
« Can’t Control » la deuxième sur l’album est ma chanson favorite : une l’électro-pop envoûtante et éblouissante, tandis que l’intime et magnifique « For Everything » est un crescendo gospel ensorcelant.
« Tell That Girl » et « Great Romances » – alertes et très rythmées, nous ramènent sur les pistes de danse et sentent bon les vacances d’été, tandis que la ballade romantique « Won’t Let you Down » nous offre une très jolie et émouvante incursion sentimentale.
Des belles guitares, une magnifique voix de velours de Sharleen Spiteri, Texas est toujours au top de son art.
Sharleen et son âme sœur musicale, Johnny McElhone, deux auteurs passionnés et inventifs, gardent toujours la même énergie créative.
Jump on Board est un album éclectique, classique et moderne en même temps, ensoleillé et sans prise de tête. Un album qui dégage un sentiment de liberté, d’amour et de joie de vivre.
Même si Sharleen affirme que « Cet album parle du fait de vieillir », il nous offre un son frais, neuf et apaisant. Un nouveau départ pour ce groupe avec à son actif 40 millions exemplaires de disques vendus dans le monde entier et qui continue à se renouveler en permanence. Une histoire britannique à succès loin d’être terminée.
Alors, allons – y Jump On Board – (Montons à Bord) et profitons : tout le monde est invité.
