Headbangers are you ready ??? Le compte à rebours a démarré ! Moins que 2 semaines avant HELLFEST 2023 ! Votre cou est en forme ? Votre plus beau heavy metal outfit est lavé et repassé ?

Après l’édition gigantesque de l’année dernière reparti sur 2 weekends qu’est-ce que le plus grand festival de musiques extrêmes d’Europe et de France nous réserve cette année ? Plein de surprises !

Faisons un petit point général ainsi qu’une présentation de nos artistes immanquables, playlist à l’appui.

Cette année, on aura donc 4 jours de festival, du 15 au 18 juin 2023, sur les terres de Clisson, au milieu des décors dantesques et comme d’habitude, on pourra choisir parmi plus de 180 concerts repartis sur les 6 scènes du site. Mainstage 1, Mainstage 2, Temple, Altar, Warzone et Valley.

Il ya aura donc du rock et du métal pour tous les goût (hard, heavy death, black, heavy, power, thrash, et pas que. On devrait donc bouger sans arrêts entre les 6 scène pour voir nos artistes préfère ou faire des découvertes d’enfer. Espérons que la météo sera clémente : ni trop froid, ni trop chaud et surtout pas de pluie !!!

Grande nouveauté pour cette nouvelle édition : la scène Valley déménage pour se retrouver en plein air et en miroir face à la Warzone. Le tout sur une zone d’1 hectare, permettant de gagner en place et en confort sur tout le site.

En attendant La Gardienne des Ténèbres, la femme-scorpion, l’impressionnante structure en mouvement  faite de bois et de métal qui deviendra en 2024 la protectrice du passage entre notre monde et celui des enfers sur le site du Clisson,  cette année on découvrira des nouvelles éléments déco, dont la “Roue de Charon” (conçue lors du festival Burning Man 2011 par l’artiste américain Peter Hudson et composée de 20 répliques de squelettes de piroguiers) mais aussi un nouveau bar et des stands de restauration.

Le Merch Officiel ( la collection vient d’être dévoilée) déménage lui aussi pour devenir “The Sanctuary” sur l’ancien emplacement de la Valley. Une structure construite sur mesure pour le festival et qui deviendra sans conteste un nouvel élément iconique du Hellfest. (en plus de devenir le magasin éphèmere le plus grand d’Europe !).

En lieu et place des anciens Merch, vous retrouverez 2 nouveaux bars : un bar à cocktails ainsi qu’un bar à jus de fruits (pour récupérer des forces entre deux concerts)

Le parking Vélo s’agrandit pour faire face au succès des déplacements en deux roues avec un atelier de réparation en cas de pépins ! Si vous venez en voiture toujours le 2 grands parkings à disposition + navettes. Toutes les infos son sur le site https://www.hellfest.fr/

Passons maintenant à nos concerts à ne pas rater. On a vu large avec plein de conflits mais on verra sur place.

Jeudi 15.06 :

On démarre avec Code Orange (M2) et leurs sonorités abrasives post-rock, électro, nu métal, AEPHANEMER (Altar) – death metal mélodique made in France, I Prevail (M2) (Post Hard Core Metal core), ARCHITECTS (M2) – leur prestation en ouverture de Metallica m’a donné envie de les revoir. GENERATION SEX (M1) – quand Generation X (Billy Idol & Tony James) et deux ex Sex Pistols (Steve Jones, Paul Cook) font ménage ça doit être quelque chose. Hollywood Vampire(M1) et ce n’est pas seulement juste pour voir Johnny Depp).

Sur la liste aussi les maîtres incontestés du doom metal CANDELMASS (Altar) et les sanguinaires tumultueux du black/death metal BEHEMOTH (Temple), un projet dark wave intéressant The Dark Moon (Valley) et NIGHTFALL (ALTAR).

Très peu probable qu’on va résister jusque 1 heure pour voir Parkway Drive (M2) ou Katatonia (Altar) mais ça sera le top.

Vendredi 16 juin : place aux 80s-90s glorieux avec DEF LEPPARD, SKID ROW et MOTLEY CRUE tous sur la Main Stage 1. Aucun de trois vu sur scène jusqu’à là donc j’espère donc ne pas rater ces moments historiques.

Mais avant NOTHING MORE (M2) que j’adore, AKIAVEL (Temple) qui vient de remplacer 1914. Le super groupe de Ronnie Romero (Rainbow, MSG), Richie Faulkner et Scott Travis (Judas Priest), Rex Brown (Pantera, Down) :  ELEGANT WEAPONS (M1)

Les rois du métal alternatif PAPA ROACH (M2) sont incontournable même si gros conflit avec GREG PUICIATTO (Valley), artiste assez atypique pour Hellfest avec son rock alternative / new wave .

Et pour les extrêmes on va essayer de naviguer entre death metal de BLOODBATH (Altar ), le black metal de 1349 (Temple) et GORGOROTH (temple)

Samedi 17 Juin :

Journée très chargée avecpas mal de conflits et qui doit démarrer très tôt soit avec FEVER 333 (M2)quifera surement grimper la température avec son cocktail molotov musical, metal, hip-hop, punk incendiaire soit avec KALANDRA (Temple) ses sonorités pop, rock, folk douces et éthérées. On enchaine avec le métal core de ASKING ALEXANDRIA(M2), LOATHE (Altar) et leurs superbes sonorités metalcore progressif ou le crossover trash de MINDFORCE (Warzone)

BEAST IN BLACK (M2) ou le trio power féminine GRANDMA’S ASHES (Valley) que je suis très contente de retrouver à la dernière minute à l’affiche de HELLFEST. ARCH ENEMY(M2) et MYRATH (Temple) passe en même temps… mais c’est surement les tunisiens qui vont gagner.

SAOR (Temple), LORNA SHORE (Altar), MONSTER MAGNET(Valley) sont sur la liste aussi et bien sûr les maitres de la journée IRON MAIDEN(M1) !!! La classe ! et pas avant POWERWOLF(M2) !! et les Goeblins de FINNTROLL(Temple).

Evidement WITHIN TEMPTATION (M2). The HU (Temple) et MESHUGGAH (Altar) sont un must mais on verra l’état de notre fatigue.

Dimanche 18 juin – grands objectives aussi !! les rockeuses de THUNDERMOTHER(M2)démarrent à 12h 15 donc pas de grasse matinée. On continue avec EVIL INVADERS ( Altar) et le rap metal de  HOLLYWOOD UNDEAD ( M2). HALESTORM (M1) et l’incroyable chanteuse Lzzy Hale, un peu de folie avec ELECTRIC CALLBOY (M2) ou un peu de trash metal avec HOLLY MOSES (Altar) ou un peu de dark wave avec SHE PAST AWAY (Temple). Le métal gotique théâtral de LORD OF THE LOST(Temple) est sur la liste.

Il faut bien sûr ne pas rater le vikings de AMON AMRATH(M1), INCUBUS (M2) et Jack Black et Kyle Gass et leur duo improbable TENACIOUS D.

Du death metal avec BENEDICTION (Altar) et un peu de post punk apocalyptique avec GRAVE PLEASURES (Temple) pour se chauffer pour LE CONCERT de la journée qui pour moi est sans aucun doute PANTERA(M2).En plus lesCowboys From Hell, Phil Anselmo et Rex Brown on convie Zakk Wylde et Charlie Benante (Anthrax) pour les épauler.

Les ténébreux de PARADISE LOST passent quasiment en même temps mais j’espère voir la fin de leur show. Et puis le final sera surement spectaculaire avec SLIPKNOT et les feux d’artifices.

N’oublions pas la programmation de la HELLSTAGE et du METAL CORNER !

– 20 groupes en concert durant la journée du jeudi au dimanche

– 1 combat de Catch de dessinateurs à moustaches 

– La finale du Contest de Air Guitar le mercredi soir

– Des performances dans la Hellcage chaque jour (au-dessus du bar Hellgate)

METAL CORNER

– Une session de METAL WORKOUT d’1h chaque matin avec yoga et réveil musculaire (du vendredi au dimanche)

– Des DJ Sets pour clôturer les soirées du jeudi / vendredi / samedi

Headbangers are you ready??? The countdown has begun! Less than 2 weeks before HELLFEST 2023! Is your neck in good shape? Your most beautiful heavy metal outfit is washed and ironed? 

After last year’s gigantic edition spread over 2 weekends, what does the biggest extreme music festival in Europe and France have in store for us this year? Full of surprises! Let’s make a small general point as well as a presentation of our unmissable artists, playlist in support. 

This year, we will have 4 days of festival, from June 15 to 18, 2023, on the lands of Clisson, in the middle of the hellish scenery and as usual, we can choose from more than 180 concerts spread over the 6 stages of the site. Mainstage 1, Mainstage 2, Temple, Altar, Warzone and Valley.

So, there will be rock and metal for all tastes: hard, heavy death, black, heavy, power, thrash… and not only. We should therefore move non-stop between the 6 stages to see our favourites artists or make hell of discoveries. Let’s hope that the weather will be mild: neither too cold, nor too hot and especially no rain!!!

Great novelty for this new edition: the Valley stage moves to find itself outdoors and mirrored in front of the Warzone. All on an area of 1 hectare, allowing to gain space and comfort throughout the site.

While waiting for The Guardian of Darkness, the Scorpion Woman, the impressive moving structure made of wood and metal that will become in 2024 the protector of the passage between our world and that of hell on the site of Clisson, this year we will discover new decorative elements, including the “Wheel of Charon” (designed during the Burning Man 2011 festival by the American artist Peter Hudson and composed of 20 replicas of skeletons of boatmen) but also a new bar and food stalls. 

The Official Merch (the collection has just been unveiled) is also moving to become “The Sanctuary” on the former location of the Valley. A structure custom-built for the festival and which will undoubtedly become a new iconic element of Hellfest. (In addition to becoming the largest pop-up store in Europe!).

Instead of the old Merch stand, you will find 2 new bars: a cocktail bar and a juice bar (to recover strength between two concerts). The bike car park is expanding to cope with the success of two-wheeled travel with a repair workshop in case of glitches! If you come by car always the 2 large car parks available + shuttles. Now let’s move on to our concerts not to be missed. We have seen wide with many conflicts but we will see on the spot.

Thursday 15.06:

We start with Code Orange (M2) and their grinding post-rock, electro, nu metal, AEPHANEMER (Altar) – melodic death metal made in France, I Prevail (M2) (Post Hard-Core Metal core), ARCHITECTS (M2) – their opening performance of Metallica made me want to see them again. Hollywood Vampire (M1) and it’s not just to see Johnny Depp).

On the list also the undisputed masters of doom metal CANDELMASS (Altar) and the bloodthirsty tumultuous black/death metal BEHEMOTH (Temple), an interesting dark wave project The Dark Moon (Valley) and NIGHTFALL (ALTAR). Very unlikely that we will resist until 1 hour to see Parkway Drive (M2) or Katatonia (Altar) but it will be the best.

Friday, June 16:

Make way for the glorious 80s-90s with DEF LEPPARD, SKID ROW and MOTLEY CRUE all on Main Stage 1. None of the three seen on stage so far so I hope not to miss these historic moments. 

But before NOTHING MORE (M2) that I love, AKIAVEL (Temple) which has just replaced 1914. The super group of Ronnie Romero (Rainbow, MSG), Richie Faulkner and Scott Travis (Judas Priest), Rex Brown (Pantera, Down): ELEGANT WEAPONS (M1).

The kings of alternative metal PAPA ROACH (M2) are essential. GREG PUICIATTO (Valley), artist quite atypical for Hellfest with his alternative rock / new wave. And for extremes why not navigate between death metal of BLOODBATH (Altar), black metal of 1349 (Temple) and GORGOROTH (temple)

Saturday, June 17:

Very busy day with a lot of conflicts and a very early start either with FEVER 333 (M2) which will surely raise the temperature with its musical molotov cocktail, metal, hip-hop, incendiary punk or with KALANDRA (Temple) and its pop, rock, folk sounds soft and ethereal. We continue with the metal core of ASKING ALEXANDRIA (M2), LOATHE (Altar) and their superb progressive metalcore sounds or the trashy crossover of MINDFORCE (Warzone), BEAST IN BLACK (M2) or the French female power trio GRANDMA’S ASHES (Valley) that I am very happy to find at the last minute on the HELLFEST line up.

ARCH ENEMY(M2) and MYRATH(Temple) passes at the same time… But it is surely the Tunisians who will win. SAOR (Temple), LORNA SHORE (Altar), MONSTER MAGNET (Valley) are on the list too and of course the masters of the day IRON MAIDEN(M1)!! Class! but not before POWERWOLF(M2)!! and the Goeblins of FINNTROLL(Temple).

The HU (Temple) and MESHUGGAH (Altar) are a must but we will see if we can. And obviously WITHIN TEMPTATION (M2)

Sunday, June 18 – big goals too!! the rockers of THUNDERMOTHER (M2) start at 12:15 so no sleeping in. We continue with EVIL INVADERS (Altar) and the rap metal of HOLLYWOOD UNDEAD (M2). HALESTORM (M1) and the incredible singer Lzzy Hale, a little madness with ELECTRIC CALLBOY (M2) or a little trash metal with HOLLY MOSES (Altar) and some dark wave with SHE PAST AWAY (Temple).

The theatrical gothic metal of LORD OF THE LOST (Temple) is on the list. Of course, do not miss the vikings of AMON AMRATH (M1), INCUBUS (M2) and Jack Black and Kyle Gass and their unlikely duo TENACIOUS D.

Death metal with BENEDICTION (Altar) and a bit of apocalyptic post punk with GRAVE PLEASURES (Temple) to warm up for THE CONCERT of the day which for me is undoubtedly PANTERA (M2). In addition to the Cowboys From Hell, Phil Anselmo and Rex Brown we invite Zakk Wylde and Charlie Benante (Anthrax) to support them.

The dark ones of PARADISE LOST pass almost at the same time but I hope to see the end of their show. And then the finale will surely be spectacular with SLIPKNOT and fireworks. 

Let’s not forget the programming of the HELLSTAGE and the METAL CORNER!  On the program on these two stages:

HELLSTAGE

– 20 bands in concert during the day from Thursday to Sunday

– 1 fight of Catch of cartoonists with moustaches – The final of the Air Guitar Contest on Wednesday night – Performances in the Hellcage every day (above the Hellgate bar)

METAL CORNER
