À peine l’année entamée que les albums à figurer dans la liste de Best Of 2026 débarquent en rafale.
Aujourd’hui, direction Londres pour vous parler en détail de deux albums d’exception signés par deux groupes londoniens aux noms improbables et aux esthétiques complétement différents : URNE et THE MOLOTOVS ! A écouter de toute urgence !
URNE- Setting Fire to the Sky
Setting Fire to the Sky, le troisième album d’URNE, le trio londonien formé par Joe Nally (basse, voix), Angus Neyra (guitare), James Cook (batterie) est sorti le 30 janvier 2026 via Spinefarm.
Trois ans après, A Feast On Sorrow (produit par Joe Duplantier de Gojira), le groupe anglais déploie tous ses talents créatifs et démontre sa capacité unique à fusionner sludge, groove, thrash et prog-metal.
Avec ce nouvel opus, on retrouve un univers sonore plus vaste, plus audacieux et émotionnellement plus percutant que tout ce que le groupe avait proposé jusque‑là.
L’album démarre avec Be Not Dismayed, titre qui commence par une guitare acoustique un peu folk qui explose rapidement dans des riffs tranchants et une rythmique dévastatrice accompagnés par des voix growl puissantes. Un prend déjà une grosse claque.
Sur Weeping To The World, des passages plus atmosphériques se déploient mais aussi une batterie percutante, des superbes riffs acérés et des solos époustouflants. La voix groovy ou screamé de Joe Nally montre toute ses capacités. Tout au long de l’album, son interprétation, que ça soit clean, dramatique et angoissante ou façon rugissements gutturaux, y est impressionnante.
Sur le The Spirit, Alive la puissance mélodique est à l’honneur et se marie parfaitement avec les instruments grungy et agressifs d’URNE.
Setting Fire To The Sky, The Ancient Horizon et Towards The Harmony Hall, continuent dans la même veine. Il ya aucun temps mort. Des fondations héritées du heavy metal old‑school, des frappes de batterie effrénés et un travail de guitare acéré sont nourris par des influences thrash emblématiques, rapides et féroces.
Towards The Harmony Hill est un morceau en deux parties qui navigue entre des passages et des sections instrumentales rapides ou extrêmement chargés d’émotions.
Harken The Waves, odyssée épique de 9 minutes, bénéficie du talent et la maitrise de Troy Sanders de Mastodon, qui apporte une profondeur supplémentaire au morceau tout en sublimant l’identité propre du groupe.
Sur Breathe, la participation de Jo Quail est à couper le souffle. Son violoncelle insuffle une ampleur orchestrale grandiose à une production déjà intensément habitée par la gravité émotionnelle et profondément méditative d’Urne. Les cordes s’intègrent parfaitement au son des londoniens. L’un des sommets mélodiques du disque. Sublime.
En conclusion, Setting Fire to the Sky s’impose comme une prouesse musicale. L’écriture solide met en lumière la vision créative et tourbillonnante du groupe.
Chaque titre injecte ses pulsations post‑metal et ses nuances atmosphériques progressives dans des horizons sonores plus vastes.
La texture globale est massive, obscure, enveloppante. Les riffs, héritiers d’un thrash à la fois féroce et maîtrisé, tranchent dans la matière tandis que les solos, incandescents, s’élèvent au-dessus de gigantesques parois sonores où se glisse une sensibilité introspective.
Rien n’est figé : le son est fluide, évolue, se transforme, tout en conservant une cohérence remarquable et une richesse qui se déploie à chaque écoute.
La performance vocale impressionne par son amplitude : un growl monumental qui se fond dans une voix claire habilement dosée, révélant une maîtrise totale des contrastes.
L’énergie mélodique est colossale. Le son majestueux et les couches instrumentales complexes qui se dévoilent progressivement, comme un paysage qu’on redécouvre à chaque passage.
Impossible de résister à l’envie d’appuyer sur rewind pour replonger dans cette expérience sonore.
URNE met littéralement le feu au ciel et continue son ascension vers les sommets du heavy metal moderne.
Sans aucun doute, Setting Fire to the Sky, va figurer dans la liste des Best OF 2026.

THE MOLOTOVS – Wasted On Youth
Ils sont frère et sœur, ils sont jeunes, ils ont la rage et l’énergie punk rock qui coule dans leurs veines, voilà THE MOLOTOVS.
Ce duo londonien formé par Mathew Cartlidge (guitare/chant principal) et sa sœur Issey Cartlidge (basse/chœurs), bien que très jeune, 17 et respectivement 19 ans, a appris son art sur scène, jouant plus de 600 concerts depuis 2020.
Ces adolescents talentueux qui portent des costumes élégants ont partagé la scène avec des groupes tels que The Libertines, Sex Pistols, Blondie, Iggy Pop et The Damned et ont été salué par Green Day et Paul Weller. Rien que ça !
Leur premier album, Wasted On Youth, sorti le 30 janvier 2026 via le Label Marshall Records est tout aussi incendiaire qu’un certain cocktail qui porte le même nom.
Dignes héritiers des The Jams ou The Libertines, le duo charismatique distille un mélange audacieux de new wave, punk, indie, garage-rock et Brit Pop, mettant en valeur l’énergie brute et l’écriture percutante qui explore des thèmes de conscience sociale et politique, la réalité et les défis quotidiens et de la vie moderne d’une jeunesse débordant d’espoir et d’énergie.
11 morceaux, courts (le plus long compte 3:50 min) et efficaces, l’album capte notre attention immédiatement.
Le morceau qui sert d’ouverture Get a Life, dure seulement 1:53 min est un concentré frénétique de fureur mod-punk avec des riffs tranchants, des harmonies vocales synchrones de Matt et Issey et des paroles incisives. C’est explosif !
Daydreaming est un morceau plus lent, soul et funky, rappelant le Brit Pop d’Oasis avec une touche de soul des 60s.
Le rythme frénétique refait surface avec More More More, un autre morceau haletant porté par des guitares âpres et un chant assuré. Sauvage et inflexible, c’était un choix particulièrement judicieux pour servir de premier extrait de l’album.
Le reste de l’album est tout aussi accrocheur : Come on Now est très groovy rock- le solo de guitare de Matt au milieu est superbe.
Nothing Keep Her Away révèle un côté plus doux avec de guitares acoustiques et voix réfléchie. On pense aux The Libertines.
Wasted On Youth débute elle aussi en douceur, avant que les frappes massives de la batterie et les guitares entraînantes ne la propulsent à un tout autre niveau. Matt tire de son instrument quelques solos brefs mais percutants avant que le morceau s’interrompe soudainement.
Newsflash, une critique envers les médias traditionnels, semble taillé pour les stades et Rhythm of Yourself qui parle de la confiance en soi est une sorte de New – Britpop.
Pour conclure, Today’s Gonna Be Our Day, un morceau plein d’espoir qui met en vedette l’excellent jeu de basse d’Issey.
Avec Wasted On Youth, THE MOLOTOVS célébré leur héritage et réalise un album chargé d’adrénaline et de refrains accrocheurs. On retrouve l’esprit rebêle et agité du punk rock avec un coté moderne et rafraîchissant.
Ancré fermement dans le style Mod (même leurs tenues en témoignent), Wasted On Youth est un cocktail d’influences qui met en avant l’énergie éclatante de la jeunesse, sa rage sincère et son optimisme revigorant.
La vitesse de l’instrumentation, les guitares pétillants, la section rythmique bouillonnante combinés à la prestation vocale mordante et l’alchimie indéniable de la fratrie, forge un paysage sonore qui tient les auditeurs en haleine dès la première note.
Même s’ils sont très jeunes les MOLOTOVS semblent déjà être des professionnels expérimentés. Ils sont déjà le porte-flambeau du punk rock venu d’Outre Manche.

The year has barely begun and the albums to be included in the Best Of 2026 list are arriving thick and fast.
Today, we take the Eurostar to tell you about two exceptional albums signed by two London bands with improbable names and completely different aesthetics: URNE and THE MOLOTOVS! Two Must‑Hear Releases Shaking Things Up !
URNE- Setting Fire to the Sky
Setting Fire to the Sky, the third album by URNE, the London trio formed by Joe Nally (bass, vocals), Angus Neyra (guitar), James Cook (drums) was released on January 30, 2026.
Three years after A Feast On Sorrow (produced by Joe Duplantier of Gojira), the English band deploys all its creative talents and demonstrates its unique ability to fuse sludge, groove, thrash and prog-metal.
With this new record, we find a sound universe that is larger, bolder and emotionally more impactful than anything the band had offered until then.
The album starts with Be Not Dismayed, a track that starts with a folk acoustic guitar that quickly explodes in sharp riffs and a devastating rhythmic accompanied by powerful growl voices. A big slap already!
On Weeping To The World, more atmospheric passages unfold but also a percussive drums, superb sharp riffs and breathtaking solos. Joe Nally’s groovy or screamed voice shows all his abilities. Throughout the album, his interpretation, whether it’s clean, dramatic and distressing or like guttural roars, is impressive.
On The Spirit, Alive, melodic power is in the spotlight and blends perfectly with URNE’s grungy and aggressive instruments.
Setting Fire To The Sky, The Ancient Horizon and Towards The Harmony Hall, continue in the same vein. There is no dead time. Oldschool heavy metal foundations, frantic drum strikes and razor-sharp guitar work are nourished by iconic, fast and ferocious thrash influences.
Towards The Harmony Hill is a two-part track that navigates between fast or extremely emotionally charged passages and instrumental sections.
Harken The Waves, an epic 9-minute odyssey, benefits from the talent and mastery of Troy Sanders of Mastodon, who brings an additional depth to the track while sublimating the band’s own identity.
On Breathe, Jo Quail’s participation is breathtaking. Her cello infuses a grandiose orchestral breadth into a production already intensely inhabited by Urne’s emotional and deeply meditative gravity. The strings fit perfectly with the sound of the Londoners. One of the melodic peaks of the record. Sublime.
In conclusion, Setting Fire to the Sky stands out as a musical feat. The solid songwriting highlights the band’s swirling creative vision.
Each track injects its postmetal pulsations and progressive atmospheric nuances into wider sonic horizons.
The overall texture is massive, dark, enveloping. The riffs, heirs to a thrash that is both ferocious and mastered, cut through the material while the incandescent solos rise above gigantic walls of sound where an introspective sensitivity slips in.
Nothing is set in stone: the sound is fluid, evolves, transforms, while maintaining a remarkable coherence and a richness that unfolds with each listening.
The vocal performance impresses with its amplitude: a monumental growl that melts into a clear voice skilfully dosed, revealing a total mastery of contrasts.
The melodic energy is colossal. The majestic sound and the complex instrumental layers that are gradually revealed, like a landscape that we rediscover with each passage.
It’s impossible to resist the urge to press rewind to dive back into this sound experience.
URNE literally sets the sky on fire and continues its ascent to the heights of modern heavy metal.

THE MOLOTOVS – Wasted On Youth
They are brother and sister, they are young, they have the rage and the punk rock energy that flows in their veins, they are THE MOLOTOVS.
This London-based duo formed by Mathew Cartlidge (guitar/lead vocals) and his sister Issey Cartlidge (bass/backing vocals), although very young, 17 and 19 years old respectively, learned their art on stage, playing more than 600 concerts since 2020.

Worthy heirs to The Jams or The Libertines, the charismatic duo distils a bold mix of new wave, punk, indie, garage-rock and Brit Pop, showcasing the raw energy and hard-hitting writing that explores themes of social and political consciousness, reality and the daily challenges and modern life of a youth brimming with hope and energy.
11 tracks, short (the longest is 3:50 min) and effective, the album captures our attention immediately.
The track that serves as the opening track, Get a Life, lasts only 1:53 min is a frenetic concentrate of mod-punk fury with sharp riffs, synchronous vocal harmonies from Matt and Issey and incisive lyrics. It’s explosive!
Daydreaming is a slower, soulful and funky track, reminiscent of Oasis’ Brit Pop with a touch of 60s soul.
The frenetic rhythm resurfaces with More More More, another breathless track carried by harsh guitars and confident vocals. Wild and unyielding, it was a particularly wise choice to serve as the first single from the album.
The rest of the album is just as catchy: Come on Now is very groovy rock – Matt’s guitar solo in the middle is superb.
Nothing Keep Her Away reveals a softer side with acoustic guitars and thoughtful vocals. We think to The Libertines.
Wasted On Youth also starts softly, before the massive drum hits and the driving guitars propel it to a whole new level. Matt pulls a few short but punchy solos from his instrument before the song suddenly stops.
Newsflash, a criticism of the traditional media, seems tailor-made for stadiums and Rhythm of Yourself which talks about self-confidence is a kind of New – Britpop.
To conclude, Today’s going to Be Our Day, a hopeful track that showcases Issey’s excellent bass playing.
With Wasted On Youth, THE MOLOTOVS celebrated their legacy and released an album full of adrenaline and catchy choruses. We find the rebellious and agitated spirit of punk rock with a modern and refreshing side.
Firmly rooted in Mod style (even their outfits attest to that), Wasted On Youth is a cocktail of influences that showcases youth’s bright energy, sincere rage, and invigorating optimism.
The speed of the instrumentation, the sparkling guitars, the bubbling rhythm section combined with the biting vocal delivery and the undeniable chemistry of the siblings, forges a soundscape that keeps listeners on the edge of their seats from the first note.
Even though they are young, THE MOLOTOVS already seem to be experienced professionals. They are already carrying the torch of UK punk rock !
