Après un premier album, Gates of Twilight (sorti en 2023) qu’on a adoré, WINGS OF STEEL revient avec un second opus très attendu qui dépasse toutes les espérances. Le groupe formé par le chanteur suédois Leo Unnermark et le guitariste californien Parker Halub signe ici une véritable déclaration d’amour au heavy metal, à la fois intemporelle et audacieusement moderne.

Intitulé Winds of Time est sorti le 17 octobre 2025, l’album dévoile dès les premières minutes une ambition rare dans le paysage musical actuel. Avec ses 8 titres parfaitement maîtrisés, il mêle puissance brute, envolées mélodiques, virtuosité instrumentale et tension émotionnelle.

Deux fresques épiques en ouverture et en clôture

L’album s’ouvre sur son morceau-titre, Winds of Time, une odyssée de plus de dix minutes : riffs tranchants, changements de rythme surprenants, solos incandescents. Parker Halub y déploie une maîtrise impressionnante de son instrument, tandis que Leo Unnermark survole l’ensemble de sa voix magistrale. Cette fresque sonique, entre fureur et lyrisme, défie les standards modernes d’écoute rapide et confirme d’emblée le talent et la passion de musiciens.

Dans un monde musical souvent dominé par l’instantanéité, proposer des morceaux de dix minutes, structurés comme des suites progressives, relève de l’acte militant. Et ça fonctionne.

À l’autre extrémité de l’album, Flight of the Eagle s’impose comme un final grandiose. Plus qu’une balade, c’est une œuvre électrique à couper le souffle, un adieu suspendu entre ciel et terre. Les guitares y pleurent, la voix s’élève, et l’auditeur reste saisi par la beauté mélancolique de cette dernière envolée.

Un cœur d’album sans faille, entre classicisme assumé et audace moderne

Entre ces deux piliers épiques, l’album déroule une succession de morceaux ciselés avec un soin d’orfèvre. Chaque titre alliant rapidité et sensibilité, férocité et émotion avec une parfaite fluidité dans le pur esprit du heavy metal : Riffs acérés, rythmiques galopantes, solos flamboyants et refrains taillés pour l’arène.

We Rise s’impose comme un hymne imparable, porté par un refrain digne des plus grands stades. Saints and Sinners injecte une énergie brute, implacable, entre classic rock et heavy de tradition alors que To Die In Holy War fait monter la pression avec ses cavalcades de double pédale et ses riffs martelés, parfait pour les fans de speed et de power metal.

Lights Go Out, plus sombre et pesant, évoque les fantômes de Black Sabbath, avec une atmosphère lourde et hypnotique. Un des sommets de l’album. Mon titre préféré.

Burning Sands est une leçon de composition : complexité rythmique, envolées vocales déchirantes, solos multiples et maîtrisés, le tout orchestré avec une cohérence rare. Un avertissement sonore sur le chaos du monde – et une démonstration éclatante de virtuosité. Une grosse claque.

Des musiciens au sommet de leur art

Leo Unnermark livre ici une prestation vocale exceptionnelle. Sa tessiture semble sans limite : entre graves habités, timbre bluesy et aigus vertigineux, il impose une intensité dramatique de chaque instant. Sur Crying, il touche au sublime.

Quant à Parker Halub, il s’affirme définitivement comme l’un des guitaristes les plus talentueux de sa génération. Son jeu, à la fois technique, expressif et élégant, transforme chaque morceau en tableau sonore. Son solo sur Burning Sands, précédé d’un moment suspendu où les cris de Leo fendent le silence, est tout simplement anthologique.

WINGS OF STEEL est le nouveau visage du heavy metal

Winds of Time n’est ni un hommage figé, ni un pastiche nostalgique. C’est un œuvre qui puise dans les racines du heavy metal (on pense à Dio, Helloween ou Judas Priest), mais qui parle au présent. C’est le nouvel élan du heavy metal.

Winds of Time est une épopée heavy metal moderne, vibrante et majestueuse. WINGS OF STEEL ne se contente pas d’honorer les codes du genre, il les transcende avec audace et sincérité.

VERDICT : 10/10 : une note méritée pour un album qui concilie maturité artistique, ambition musicale et sincérité émotionnelle. Un chef-d’œuvre.

Avec Winds of Time, Wings of Steel entretient le flambeau du heavy metal et continue de tracer sa route. Entre tradition et renouveau, le combo incarne aujourd’hui l’un des plus beaux espoirs du genre. WINGS OF STEEL est le nouveau visage du heavy metal.

Et c’est clair que son ascension continue car le groupe assurera la première partie de la prochaine tournée nord-américaine de SABATON. Une opportunité en or pour le groupe qui s’apprête à conquérir de nouveaux publics à travers le continent.

The band formed by Swedish singer Leo Unnermark and Californian guitarist Parker Halub signs here a true declaration of love to heavy metal, both timeless and boldly modern.

Entitled Winds of Time, the album released on 17^th of October 2025 reveals from the first minutes a rare ambition in the current musical landscape. With its 8 perfectly mastered tracks, it mixes raw power, melodic flights, instrumental virtuosity and emotional tension.

Two epic frescoes open and close the album

The album opens with its title track, Winds of Time, an odyssey of more than ten minutes: sharp riffs, surprising changes of rhythm, incandescent solos. Parker Halub shows an impressive mastery of his instrument, while Leo Unnermark flies over the whole with his masterful voice. This sonic fresco, between fury and lyricism, defies modern standards of rapid listening and immediately confirms the talent and passion of musicians. In a musical world often dominated by immediacy, offering a ten-minute song, structured as progressive suites, is a militant act. And it works!

At the other side of the album, Flight of the Eagle stands out as a grandiose finale. More than a ballad, it is a breathtaking electric track, a farewell suspended between heaven and earth. The guitars cry, the voice rises, and the listener remains gripped by the melancholic beauty of this last flight.

A flawless heart of the album, between assumed classicism and modern audacity

Between these two epic pillars, the album unfolds a succession of tracks chiselled with the care of a goldsmith. Each track combines speed and sensitivity, ferocity and emotion with a perfect fluidity in the pure spirit of heavy metal: sharp riffs, galloping rhythms, flamboyant solos and choruses made for the big arenas.

We Rise stands out as an unstoppable anthem, carried by a chorus worthy of the biggest stadiums. Saints and Sinners inject a raw, relentless energy, between classic rock and traditional heavy while To Die In Holy War turns up the heat with its double-pedal cavalcades and hammered riffs, perfect for speed and power metal fans.

Lights Go Out, darker and heavier, evokes the ghosts of Black Sabbath, with a heavy and hypnotic atmosphere. One of the highlights of the album. My favourite track.

Burning Sands is a lesson in composition: rhythmic complexity, heartbreaking vocal flights, multiple and mastered solos, all orchestrated with a rare coherence. A sound warning about the chaos of the world – and a dazzling demonstration of virtuosity. A big slap in the face.

Musicians at the top of their game

Leo Unnermark delivers an exceptional vocal performance here. His range seems limitless: between inhabited lows, bluesy timbre and dizzying highs, he imposes a dramatic intensity at every moment. On Crying he touches the sublime.

As for Parker Halub, he is definitely one of the most talented guitarists of his generation. His playing, at once technical, expressive and elegant, transforms each piece into a sound painting. His solo on Burning Sands, preceded by a suspended moment where Leo’s screams cut through the silence, is simply anthological.

WINGS OF STEEL is the new face of Heavy metal

Winds of Time is neither a rigid homage nor a nostalgic pastiche. A work that draws on the roots of heavy (we think of Dio, Helloween or Judas Priest), but which speaks in the present tense. It’s the new momentum of Heavy Metal.

Winds of Time is modern heavy metal : epic, vibrant and majestic. Wings of Steel doesn’t just honour the codes of the genre; it transcends them with boldness and sincerity.

VERDICT : 10/10: a deserved score for an album that reconciles artistic maturity, musical ambition and emotional sincerity. A masterpiece.

With Winds of Time, Wings of Steel keeps the torch of heavy metal alive and continues to chart its course. Between tradition and renewal, the combo embodies today one of the most beautiful hopes of a genre. WINGS OF STEEL is the new face of Heavy Metal.

And it’s clear that the rise continues as the band will open for SABATON on their next North American tour. A great opportunity for the young band, which is preparing to conquer new audiences across the continent.
