Si au Vatican, les préparatifs pour le conclave visant à élire un nouveau Pape sont en cours, les fidèles disciples de GHOST ont exclamé “Habemus Papam” ! début mars, quand la fumée blanche a surgi à SIN CITY annonçant le couronnement de nouveau chef du groupe suédois, Papa V Perpetua.

Une fois son visage révélé dans le vidéo clip de Satanized, la congrégation attendait avec impatience SKELETÁ, le 6eme album- offrande du groupe, qui est sorti le 25 avril 2025 via Loma Vista Recordings / Concord / Universal.

Près de 10 milliards de streams, cinq nominations aux Grammy Awards (dont celui de la Meilleure Performance « metal » pour la chanson « Cirice »), un single certifié disque de platine pour « Mary on a Cross » et un nombre incalculable de concerts donnés à travers le monde, depuis 2010, le groupe suédois mené par Tobias Forge s’impose de plus en plus comme l’icône incontournable du rock théâtral suédois.

Au fil des sorties d’albums, GHOST s’est créé une identité et une base de fans enragés qui vénèrent ce mélange musical fantastique de hard rock, métal occulte, pop et mélodies accrocheuses.

GHOST a progressivement construit un empire médiatique grâce à Tobias Forge, un artiste talentueux avec une vision exceptionnelle pour exprimer son art : chaque album surpasant de manière créative le précèdent : à chaque fois un thème nouveau, des vidéo clips impressionnants. Il ya eu un film et même une bande dessinée.

Leurs spectacles stupéfiants truffées de visuels incroyables, attirent de plus en plus des fans et sont joués à guichets fermés partout dans le monde.  

A chaque nouvel album, le groupe crée l’évènement et la sortie de SKELETÁ n’a pas manqué la règle. Le jour même de la sortie,  200 fans ont pu rencontrer Tobias Forge à l’occasion d’une séance de dédicaces exceptionnelle à la Fnac de Lyon !

Le lendemain le groupe a étamé les concerts français : le 26 avril à Lyon, puis le 27 avril à Toulouse. Une expérience sans téléphone qui a ravi les 18 000 spectateurs qui s’étaient donnés rendez-vous à l’occasion de ses deux rituels.

En seulement quelques semaines, SKELETÁ a reçu des nombreuses critiques élogieuses de la presse française et internationale.

SKELETÁ sonne différemment des albums précédents. Une nouvelle ère s’ouvre pour le groupe avec une approche plus hard rock mélodieux 80’s infusé de glam et des accroches pop new wave contagieux 80’s.

C’est un album qui met l’accent sur les chansons : une collection de dix bangers qui peuvent devenir de hits radio chacun à son tour ! Aucun remplissage ! 10 hymnes massives, directe et ambitieuses qui devient de plus en plus séduisants et obsédants au fil des écoutes.

C’est l’album le plus joyeux, le plus flamboyant, le plus lumineux et accessible de leur carrière, tout en abordant des thèmes introspectifs et plus personnelles.

Si les précédents albums de GHOST chroniquaient et/ou observaient des événements extérieurs — à l’image des méditations de « Impera» sur l’ascension et la chute des empires ou l’évocation des ravages des fléaux historiques de «Prequelle , son prédécesseur — les textes de « Skeletá », eux, exposent une par une, les émotions individuelles parfois à la manière d’un dialogue avec soi-même face à un miroir.

Sur SKELETÁ, GHOST a atteint des nouveaux sommets mélodiques. On assite à une énorme concentration des mélodies, des refrains plus grandioses que jamais qui s’incrustent bien dans nos têtes.  

Le travail de synthé est impeccable. Plus intenses que jamais, façon 70s plus psychédélique ou 80’s plus new wave, les claviers sont à l’honneur et se tissent à merveille dans les riffs lourds et les solos de guitares fabuleux.

L’utilisation du latin pour des titres de chansons « Lachryma »  (« larme »), « Umbra » (« ombre »), « Missilia Amori » (« missiles d’amour ») De Profundis Borealis (« Des profondeurs du Nord). Le latin c’est la langue de la liturgie, des rites sacrés, des invocations, donc cela suscite la curiosité et donne à ces morceaux une dimension profonde, mystérieuse et élégante en même temps.

Sur SKELETÁ, GHOST a atteint des nouveaux sommets mélodiques.

SKELETÁ ramène une nouvelle esthétique : Papa V Perpetua et the Nameless Ghouls ont revêtu des costumes et de masques encore plus impressionnants que sur les albums précédents. Un masque argenté qui couvre son visage partiellement, de grandes griffes, Perpetua est imposant dans son habit papal de couleur violet, orné des éléments métalliques.

Des armures squelettiques, des cols métalliques, des queues de pies, des ailes de chauves -souris ou des chapeaux haut de forme, les nouvelles tenues de Nameless Ghouls sont tout aussi impressionnantes.

Même si TOUTES les chansons sont géniales, voilà nos préférés :

Missilia Amori est sans aucune hésitation notre morceau préféré ! Le riff spectaculaire d’ouverture, les solos accrocheurs vers le milieu, la mélodie grandiose et ce refrain puissant « Love Rockets, Shot Right In Between Your Eyes » qui s’imprime dans la tête, cette chanson frappe fort ! C’est un classique de hard rock mélodique des années 80 destiné à soulever les stades ! La Perfection !

PEACEFIELD – La chanson d’ouverture se construit à partir d’une chorale baroque d’enfants pour continuer avec un riff épique qui monte en puissance, accompagné des synthés brillantes et un refrain pop à couper le souffle qui nous hante dès la première écoute Your Love, Bright As The Starlight..on chante en boucle.

Un autre morceau classique et accrocheur, digne des arènes rock des années 80. Pas étonnant que chaque soir Ghost entame ses concerts au son de cette chanson grandiose.

SKELETÁ est tout simplement un chef d’œuvre musical

Cenotaph est peut-être la chanson la plus joyeuse de l’album, avec ses riffs enjoués, son rythme galopant ABBAesque et sa mélodie brillante. Energique et jubilatoire, ce morceau dégage une énergie contagieuse et tubesque.

Lachryma – des superbes claviers 80’s et une excellente ligne de basse, et des riffs tranchants, cette chanson nous submerge par sa mélodie irrésistible et son refrain séduisant. A qui on rajoute un solo de guitare mélodique incroyablement efficace.

Umbra  est épique. Un merveilleux tissage d’orgues hallucinantes façon Deep Purple, des guitares spectaculaires et un chant sombre et glorieux, cette chanson pleine des rebondissements est à la fois inquiétante et d’une beauté infernale.

La ballade douce-amère Excelsis marque l’épilogue émotionnel et cinématographique de l’album avec le Papa qui endosse son rôle de prédicateur et incite à la méditation sur la mortalité de l’être humain. : Everybody Leaves One Day, I Know It Hurts Everybody Goes Away,You Will Too,I Will Too. Un titre envoûtant et une guitare sublime !

SKELETÁ est tout simplement un chef d’œuvre musical ! Avec SKELETÁ, GHOST brille plus que jamais sur le firmament de l’ère moderne du rock.

Au sommet de leur art, le groupe suedois délivre un sixième album ambitieux et fascinant qui repousse leurs limites sonores  tout en gardant leurs racines rock théâtrales et qui sans doute va satisfaire les fans de la première heure et va attirer un grand nombre de nouveaux disciples.

While in the Vatican, the preparations for the conclave to elect a new Pope are underway, the faithful disciples of GHOST shouted “Habemus Papam!” early March this year, when the white smoke erupted in SIN CITY announcing the coronation of the new leader of the Swedish Band, Papa V Perpetua. 

Once his face was revealed in the music video for Satanized, the congregation eagerly awaited SKELETÁ, the band’s 6th album, which was released on April 25, 2025 via Loma Vista Recordings / Concord / Universal.

Nearly 10 billion streams, five Grammy Award nominations (including “Best Metal Performance” for the song “Cirice”), a platinum-certified single for “Mary on a Cross” and countless concerts around the world, since 2010, the Swedish band led by Tobias Forge has increasingly established itself as the unavoidable icon of Swedish theatrical rock.

With each new album create the event and the release of SKELETÁ did not miss the rule. On the day of the release, 200 fans were able to meet Tobias Forge during an exceptional signing session at Fnac in Lyon! 

The next day the band started their French concerts: on April 26 in Lyon, then on April 27 in Toulouse. A phone-free experience that delighted the 18,000 spectators who had arranged to meet for its two rituals.

SKELETÁ sounds different from previous albums. A new era is opening for the band with a more melodious 80’s hard rock approach infused with glam and contagious 80’s new wave pop hooks.

It’s an album that emphasizes songs: a collection of ten bangers that can become radio hits each of it! No filling! 10 massive, direct and ambitious anthems that become more and more seductive and haunting as you listen to it!

It is the most joyful, flamboyant, luminous and accessible album of their career while addressing introspective and more personal themes. If the previous albums of GHOST chronicled and/or observed external events — like the meditations of “Impera” on the rise and fall of empires or the evocation of the ravages of the historical plagues of “Prequelle“, its predecessor — the lyrics of “Skeletá” expose one by one, individual emotions, sometimes in the manner of a dialogue with oneself in front of a mirror.

On SKELETÁ, GHOST has reached new melodic heights. We witness a huge concentration of melodies, choruses more grandiose than ever that stick well in our heads.  

The synth work is impeccable. More intense than ever, the 70s more psychedelic or 80’s new wave, the keyboards are in the spotlight and are wonderfully woven into the heavy riffs and fabulous guitar solos.

The use of Latin for song titles “Lachryma” (“tear”), “Umbra” (“shadow”), “Missilia Amori” (“love missiles”), De Profundis Borealis (“From the depths of the North”). Latin is the language of the liturgy, of sacred rites, of invocations, so it arouses curiosity and gives the songs a deep, mysterious and elegant dimension at the same time.

SKELETÁ brings back a new aesthetic: Papa V Perpetua and the Nameless Gouls have donned even more impressive costumes and masks than on the previous albums.

With his silver mask that partially covers his face, large claws, Papa V Perpetua is imposing in his purple papal garb adorned with metallic elements.

Skeletal armor, metal collars, tailcoats, bat wings or top hats, Nameless Ghouls’ new outfits are just as impressive.

Even if ALL songs are amazing and we love them all, here there are our favourites!

Missilia Amori is, with no hesitation, our favourite track! The spectacular opening riff, the catchy solos towards the middle, the grandiose melody and that powerful chorus “Love Rockets, Shot Right In Between Your Eyes” that imprints in the head, this song hits hard! It’s a huge melodic 80s hard rock classic meant to lift stadiums! 

PEACEFIELD – The opening track builds from a baroque children’s choir to continue with an epic riff that builds up in power accompanied by bright synths and a breathtaking pop chorus that haunts us from the first listen “Your Love, Bright As The Starlight” Another classic and catchy track, worthy of the rock arenas of the 80s. No wonder that every night  Ghost starts the concert with this great track. 

Cenotaph is perhaps the most joyful song on the album, with its upbeat riffs  ABBA-esque galloping rhythm and brilliant melody. Energetic and jubilant, this track exudes a contagious and hit-like energy. 

Lachryma – great 80’s keyboards, excellent bass line, and sharp riffs, this song overwhelms us with its irresistible melody and seductive chorus. To which we add an incredibly effective melodic guitar solo.

Umbra is epic. A wonderful weaving of hallucinating organs Deep Purple style, spectacular guitars, dark and glorious vocals, this song full of twists and turns is both disturbing and of an infernal beauty.

The bittersweet ballad Excelsis marks the emotional and cinematic epilogue of the album with the Papa taking on his role as a preacher and prompting meditation on the mortality of human beings. Everybody Leaves One Day, I Know It Hurts Everybody Goes Away,You Will Too,I Will Too. A bewitching track with a sublime guitar!

SKELETÁ is simply a musical masterpiece! With SKELETÁ, GHOST shines more than ever on the firmament of the modern rock era.
