La magie blues rock de Larkin Poe opère à nouveau en ce début d’année !

Le duo formé par Rebecca & Megan Lovell, originaire de Géorgie, Atlanta et basé à Nashville, est de retour le 24 janvier 2025 avec un septième album studio intitulé BLOOM disponible en CD, vinyles & digital sur Tricki-Woo Records / Wagram Music. C’est notre album du mois et on vous en dit plus !

Bloom succède à Blood Harmony (2022), album qui a été récompensé d’un Grammy Award dans la catégorie “Best Contemporary Blues Album” et qui a permis aux sœurs Lovell de confirmer leur succès croissant en France.

Bloom marque une évolution majeure dans le parcours créatif de Larkin Poe. Chaque chanson est née de la collaboration entre Megan, Rebecca et le coproducteur Tyler Bryant, révélant une synergie qui dépasse de loin un simple partenariat musical.

Comme l’explique Rebecca : « Bloom parle de se retrouver au milieu du tumulte du monde et d’accepter pleinement les imperfections et les particularités qui nous rendent authentiques. »

L’acceptation de soi est donc le thème central de l’album, conçu comme une narration musicale en 11 chansons : de l’introspection, des histoires personnels, des réflexions sur la vie… racontés sur des sonorités blues rock modernes et élégantes.

On y retrouve cette fusion passionnante de rock sudiste, de blues et d’Americana, avec des riffs rock tranchants, de gros refrains et des sublimes mélodies caractéristiques au duo.

Rebecca et Megan livrent un album sublime, authentique,  un vibrant témoignage de leur épanouissement artistique.

L’album démarre avec Mockingbird : son riff mordant, la voix chaude et la mélodie profonde ouvre parfaitement la porte à cette narration très personnelle If you listen closely, and get a little bit lucky, you just might hear my melody, my secret melody » chante Rebecca.

Easy Love Part 1 est une chanson d’amour : la guitare fuzz, la voix bluesy et le rythme country rock nous donne envie de danser « On a hâte de jouer cette chanson en live, dit Rebecca » l’interlude instrumental crée un petit moment rock’n’roll des années 70 trippant qu’on a hâte de jouer » Et nous aussi on a hâte de l’écouter en live aussi.

Mélancolique mais optimiste Little Bit est un superbe morceau d’introspection qui dégage une énorme émotion, un sentiment de confiance en soi, d’acceptation et d’accomplissement personnel. “Why would I want to change my life Why is it new is always better… I’m not ashamed of what I’m not I’m a long ways from the top And that’s okay” Un morceau qui fait chaud au cœur. Ma préférée.

Avec Bluephoria on est en plein mode Rock N’Roll, un morceau fort et puissant avec un riff lourd et explosif et une cadence furieuse qui va surement faire des ravages en live. Un morceau doux-amer inspiré par les mots du légendaire bluesman de Memphis, Furry Lewis : “We are who we are and I know I ain’t a star But I sure might like to shine like the moon” !

 Easy Love Part 2 célèbre l’amour aussi mais en style blues sensuel qui complète parfaitement la  Part 1, alors que Nowhere Fast est un morceaux country rock  par excellence, rapide et accrocheur, une invitation à faire la fête.

Hymne IF God Is A Woman associe des magnifique paysages sonores dark et profondes, de riffs lancinants et hypnotisants à des paroles tranchantes, ironiques et drôles “If god is a woman The devil is too better get down on your knees I’m gonna pray for you, pray for you!” Un Regal !

Pearls est l’hymne punk girl power qui traite des défis liés à la préservation face à l’ère numérique des réseaux sociaux, où les personnalités publiques sont constamment critiquées. La cadence soutenue passe le message parfaitement : “I do what I want when I want!” Restez-vous même !  

Fool Outta Me possède une énergie inspirante et optimiste et You are the River, doté d’une magnifique mélodie est plus triste et mélancolique « un canot de sauvetage » comme affirme Rebecca.

L’album se clôture avec Bloom Again, une chanson d’amour poignante écrite dans le style des Everly Brothers, qui met en lumière les harmonies complices et impeccables des deux sœurs et une instrumentation fabuleuse ! La perfection !

Larkin Poe’s magical blues rock is back at the beginning of the year!  The Nashville-based duo of Georgia, Atlanta, Rebecca and Megan Lovell are back on January 24, 2025 with a seventh studio album titled BLOOM available on CD, vinyl & digital on Tricki-Woo Records/Wagram Music.

Bloom follows Blood Harmony (2022), an album that won a Grammy Award in the category “Best Contemporary Blues Album” and which allowed the Lovell sisters to confirm their growing success in France and worldwide.

Bloom marks a major evolution in Larkin Poe’s creative career. Each song was born from the collaboration between Megan, Rebecca and co-producer Tyler Bryant, revealing a synergy that goes far beyond a simple musical partnership. 

As Rebecca explains, “Bloom is about being in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the world and fully embracing the imperfections and idiosyncrasies that make us authentic.” 

Self-acceptance is therefore the central theme of the album conceived as a musical narrative in 11 songs: introspection, personal stories, reflections on life on modern and elegant blues rock sounds.

It features an exciting fusion of southern rock, blues and Americana, with sharp rock riffs, big choruses and sublime melodies characteristic of the duo.

Rebecca and Megan deliver a sublime and genuine album, a vibrant testimony to their artistic blossoming.

The album starts with Mockingbird: its heavy riff, warm voice and deep melody perfectly open the door to this very personal narrative… « If you listen closely, and get a little bit lucky, you just might hear my melody, my secret melody » sings Rebecca.

Easy Love Part 1 is a love song: the fuzz guitar, bluesy voice and country rock rhythm makes us want to dance. “We can’t wait to perform this song live, the instrumental interlude creates a trippy little, 70’s rock ’n’ roll moment that we can’t wait to jam out “say Rebecca. And we can’t wait to listen to it live too!

The melancholic but optimistic, Little Bit is a superb piece of introspection that exudes enormous emotion, a sense of self-confidence, acceptance and personal accomplishment. With Bluephoria we are in 100% Rock N’Roll full power, a strong track with a heavy and explosive riff and a furious cadence that will surely wreak havoc in live. A bittersweet track inspired by the words of legendary Memphis bluesman Furry Lewis “We are who we are and I know I ain’t a star But I sure might like to shine like the moon”

Easy Love Part 2 celebrates love too but in a sensual blues style that perfectly complements Part 1, while Nowhere Fast is a country rock track par excellence, fast and catchy, an invitation to party.

The anthem If God Is A Woman combines beautiful dark and deep soundscapes, haunting and hypnotizing riffs with sharp, ironic and funny lyrics (If god is a woman The devil is too better get down on your knees I’m gonna pray for you, pray for you). Stunning !   

Pearls is the girl power punk anthem that deals with the challenges of preservation in the digital age of social media, where public figures are constantly criticized. The sustained pace conveys the message perfectly “I do what I want when I want!”  Stay who you are!  

Fool Outta Me reveal an inspiring and optimistic energy and You are the River, with its beautiful melody, is more sad and melancholic, “a lifeboat” as Rebecca says.

The album closes with Bloom Again, a poignant love song written in the style of the Everly Brothers, which highlights the two sisters’ complicit and impeccable harmonies and a fabulous instrumentation! Perfection!
