La rockstar canadienne JJ WILDE était de retour à Paris la semaine dernière pour la promotion de son nouvel album VICES qui sortira le 20 septembre. La chanteuse a également profité de ce court séjour dans la capitale pour nous offrir un superbe concert aux Etoiles, le 11 septembre, une belle occasion pour ses fans français de découvrir quelques nouveaux titres en live, mais aussi de réécouter des morceaux extraits de son premier album, l’excellent Ruthless.

Rappelez- vous, JJ WILDE s’est imposée comme l’une des voix féminines émergente du rock avec son premier opus, Ruthless, qui a remporté le prix JUNO (l’équivalent des Victoires de la Musique) de l’album rock de l’année 2021, faisant d’elle la première femme à remporter cette catégorie depuis le mythique « Jagged Little Pill » d’Alanis Morissette 25 ans plus tôt.  

Avec des nombreux concerts en tête d’affiche et des premières parties des artistes comme Pearl Jam, Kiss, Scorpions, The Glorious Sons, Stevie Nicks, Markus King et bien d’autres, la rockeuse s’est forgée une grande réputation live, ses les performances étant devenues incontournables.

En France, après plusieurs concerts (dont la Maroquinerie à Paris en 2021), une apparition remarquée dans l’émission Taratata et des passages en boucle à la radio, sa popularité n’a fait qu’augmenter, la preuve ce soir le concert affiche SOLD OUT.

C’est donc devant une salle archi pleine que le show démarre vers 20h40 avec Best Boy, un hymne catchy et audacieux remettant en question les normes sociétales concernant femmes.

Explosion d’énergie, pluie d’applaudissements, les musiciens mettent le feu instantanément.

La chanteuse rayonnante, habillée d’une jolie combinaison fleurie et des bottines rock est entourée par ses quatre fidèles et talentueux musiciens Daniel Bossenberry (son cousin) à la guitare, Steve Lavery à la basse et keyboards, Jay Danza à la guitare, Mitch Milley à la batterie.

Off The Rails et Home ne feront que monter la température. Le groovy Take me Back, extrait du nouvel album sera suivi par le sulfureux et provocateur Hands. Une démonstration magistrale de sa voix superbe et de son charme irrésistible. On ne peut pas s’empêcher de danser et chanter avec elle « OOO LaLaLa » (voir la vidéo pour comprendre mieux).

L’hymne Best Of Me, une chanson très intime qui nous offre un aperçu honnête de son parcours personnel, est interprété avec beaucoup d’émotion et d’intensité. La synergie et la complicité avec son groupe de musiciens débordant d’énergie est implacable.   

Avant d’interpréter Arizona, la chanteuse nous confie que la chanson a été inspirée par un road trip de 3 mois qu’elle a fait à travers l’Amérique à la suite d’une rupture douloureuse. Un titre sublime qui démarre toute en douceur avant d’exploser dans un embrasement des riffs hallucinantes.

Un concert qui a mis en valeur une nouvelle fois l’énergie live inégalée de JJ Wilde, sa voix exceptionnelle et son magnétisme sur scène.

Le cri de ralliement avec ceux qui sont victimes d’intimidation se fera entendre avec force et dynamisme sur la nouvelle chanson I’m not crazy youre just an asshole (Toxic).

Les bouleversantes Knees et Trouble seront de la partie aussi. Un moment très fort du concert : l’interprétation féroce de Piece of My Heart, une chanson d’Erma Franklin rendue célèbre par Janis Joplin, une de ses chanteuses préférées.

Elle terminera avec « une chanson sur la vengeance », comme elle nous prévient, le puissant Mercy.

Petite disparition backstage avant de revenir au rappel avec Giving Up, Giving in et son premier single à succès, le hit endiablé The Rush, accueilli avec un énorme enthousiasme par les fans comblés.

Une attitude Rock N’Roll authentique, une voix rauque rugissante et une présence scénique séduisante, JJ WILDE a électrisé la foule (environ 500 personnes) présente ce soir aux Etoiles.

JJ Wilde a dansé, s’est agenouillée ou s’est agrippée à son micro et a chanté avec une puissance émotionnelle contagieuse se nourrissant en permanence de l’énergie et l’excellente performance de ses camarades de groupe et de la foule.

Avec des paroles intimistes, autobiographiques et sincères la chanteuse se livre corps et âme dans chaque morceau. Elle chante comme si sa vie en dépendait.

Souriante elle nous parlera plusieurs fois (souvent en français) de sa joie d’être à Paris et remerciera tout le monde d’être venu la voir. Elle promet que la prochaine elle s’exprimera entièrement en français.

Les ovations seront chaleureuses et des nombreux fans feront connaître leur dévotion avec des cris lancés pendant toute la durée du set : « I love you » ou « You are amazing »

Un concert qui a mis en valeur une nouvelle fois l’énergie live inégalée de JJ Wilde, sa voix exceptionnelle et son magnétisme sur scène. Un set list solide qui a tenu la foule en haleine de début à la fin. OOO Lalala quel concert !

JJ Wilde reprend la route cette automne avec une grande tournée en Amérique de Nord  et on espère la revoir bientôt en France.

Tha Canadian rockstar JJ WILDE was back in Paris last week to promote her new album VICES, coming up on September 20th. The singer also took advantage of this short stay in the capital to offer us a superb concert at the Etoiles, a great occasion for her French fans to discover some new songs live, but also to listen to tracks from her debut album, the excellent Ruthless.

Remember, JJ WILDE established herself as one of the emerging female rock voices with her first opus, Ruthless, which won the JUNO Award (the equivalent of the Victoires de la Musique in France) for Rock Album of the Year 2021, making her the first woman to win this category since Alanis Morissette’s mythical “Jagged Little Pill” 25 years earlier.

With huge number of headlining concerts and opening acts for artists such as Pearl Jam, Kiss, Scorpions, The Glorious Sons, Stevie Nicks, Markus King and many others, the rocker has built a great live reputation, her performances having become a must see.

In France, after several concerts (including La Maroquinerie in Paris in 2021), a remarkable appearance on the TV show Taratata and on repeat songs on the radio, her popularity has increased, the proof:  tonight show at the Etoiles is SOLD OUT.

It is in front of a packed room that the show starts around 8:40 p.m. with Best Boy, a catchy and daring anthem questioning societal norms concerning women.

Explosion of energy, rain of applauses, the musicians set the stage on fire instantly.

The radiant singer, dressed in a pretty floral jumpsuit and rock boots, is surrounded by her four faithful and talented musicians: Daniel Bossenberry (her cousin) on guitar, Steve Lavery on bass and keyboards, Jay Danza on guitar, Mitch Milley on drums.

Off The Rails and Home will only raise the temperature. The groovy Take me Back, taken from the new album, will be followed by the sulphurous and provocative Hands. A masterful demonstration of her superb voice and irresistible charm. We can’t help but dance and sing with her “OOO LaLaLa” (see the video to understand better).

The anthem Best Of Me, a very intimate song that offers us an honest glimpse into her personal journey, is performed with great emotion and intensity.

The synergy and complicity with her band of musicians overflowing with energy is implacable.   

A concert that once again highlighted JJ Wilde‘s huge live energy, her exceptional voice and her magnetism on stage.

Before performing Arizona, the singer tells us that the song was inspired by a 3-month road trip she took across America following a painful breakup. A sublime track that starts off softly before exploding in a blaze of hallucinating guitar riffs.

The rallying cry with those who are victims of bullying will be heard with force and dynamism on the new song I’m not crazy youre just an asshole (Toxic).

The moving Knees and Trouble will also part of toning set list. A very strong moment of the concert: the ferocious interpretation of Piece of My Heart, a song by Erma Franklin made famous by Janis Joplin, one of JJ’s favourite singers.

She will end with “a song about revenge”, as she warns us, the powerful Mercy.

A small backstage pause before returning for the encore with Giving Up, Giving in and her first hit single, the frenzied The Rush, welcomed with huge enthusiasm by the delighted fans.

An authentic rock ‘n’ roll attitude, a roaring hoarse voice and a seductive stage presence, JJ WILDE electrified the crowd (about 500 people) tonight in Paris.

JJ Wilde danced, knelt or grabbed her microphone and sang with contagious emotional power continuously feeding off the energy and excellent performance of her bandmates and the crowd.

With intimate, autobiographical and sincere lyrics, the singer gives herself body and soul in each track. She sings as if her life depended on it. 

Smiling, she will talk to us several times (often in French) about her joy at being in Paris and will thank everyone for coming to see her. She promises that the next time she will express herself entirely in French. 

The ovations were warm, and many fans made their devotion known with happy shouts throughout the set: “I love you” or “You are amazing”.

A concert that once again highlighted JJ Wilde‘s huge live energy, her exceptional voice and her magnetism on stage. A solid set list that kept the crowd on the edge from start to finish. OOO Lalala, what a concert!

JJ Wilde will tour North America this fall, and we hope that she will be back soon in France.
