Avec seulement quelques singles dans les bagages, le jeune groupe américain, THE EFFECT est parti en tournée européenne en juin 2024 : quelques concerts en support du légendaire groupe TOTO, mais aussi des shows en headliner dans des clubs, dont le Petit Bain à Paris où le groupe s’est posé le 10 juin 2024.

Petite présentation : Initialement en formule quatuor avec Trev Lukather (fils de Steve) à la guitare, Nic Collins (fils de Phil) à la batterie, Emmett Stang au chant et Steve Maggiora (Toto, RJTW) aux claviers, le groupe originaire de Los Angeles est devenu un trio, car Maggiora a annoncé juste avant la tournée européenne qu’il était malheureusement contraint de quitter l’aventure à cause de ses nombreuses autres activités.

Si THE EFFECT a vu le jour en 2023, les membres du groupe sont tous des musiciens chevronnés avec une énorme expérience à la fois sur la route et en studio :  Nic a tourné avec son père, Genesis et Mike + The Mechanics. Trev est connu en tant qu’artiste solo, producteur et auteur et a tourné avec une foule d’artistes haut de gamme et a produit des artistes comme Dorothy et Halestorm, tandis qu’Emmett s’est fait connaitre avec succès sur la toile.

Ensemble, ils ont démarré les concerts en octobre 2023 à LA et ils ont déjà assuré les premières parties de Steel Panther ou de Billy Idol aux USA. Rien que ça !

Comprenez donc qu’avec un tel CV et surtout un tel héritage musical, on avait hâte de le voir sur la péniche parisienne.

La soirée commence avec HEART LINE, un groupe de rock mélodique / AOR (Album Oriented Rock) crée en 2020. Inspirés par des légendes des 80s, comme Whitesnake, Foreigner ou Journey, les Français originaires de Lorient ont déjà sorti deux albums :  Back In The Game (2021), Rock’n Roll Queen (2023) et un EP, Original Seeds (2023).

Ce soir, ils ont choisi de se produire un duo acoustique et Yvan Guillevic, guitariste et fondateur du groupe et Emmanuel Creis au chant et à la guitare vont nous offrir un magnifique show intimiste que tout le monde appréciera, vu les applaudissements chaleureux qui accompagne chaque morceau.

Une superbe voix puissante et lumineuse accompagnée des riffs acoustiques magnifiques, des lumières tamisées, les deux musiciens feront résonner avec émotion quelques morceaux de leur discographie, notamment Hard Life et One Night In Paradise ainsi qu’une excellente reprise de To Be With You de Mr Big qui déclenchera une vague d’enthousiasme dans le public. Un groupe à écouter en toute urgence !

20h50, place à THE EFFECT. Les 3 Américains démarrent en trombe avec Toxic Envy, un morceau déjà sorti en single : hard-rock puissant avec un refrain planant qui rappelle le rock façon stade des années 80. Les musiciens sont souriants et se déplacent aisément sur scène au contact de premiers rangs. Pas besoin de plus de temps pour que le public tombe sous le charme.

Les deux autres excellents singles déjà sorties Something Wrong et Unwanted seront interprètes à côté de nouveaux morceaux qui feront partie du prochain album que Trev annonce pour bientôt.

Avec un jeu de guitares très dynamique, Trev envoie des riff énergiques et brillantes. Nic Collins délivre une avalanche des frappes fortes et pulsés. Il nous offrira même un puissant solo vers le milieu du set.

Emmett Stang, ressemblance frappante à Jim Morrison, possède une magnifique voix puissante, séduisante et pleine d’émotion. Débarrassé de sa chemise après quelques morceaux, le charmant et charismatique chanteur attirera tous les regards.

Un moment fort de la soirée, la reprise de Journey, It Could Have Been You que Trev va la dédié à sa femme, Madison, et aussi des amis chers dans la salle. Ce morceau est sorti récemment en single, avec la participation de Steve Perry, le chanteur emblématique de Journey.

Notons la belle complicité les musiciens sur scène et l’excellente communication avec le public. Chaque musicien exprimera sa joie et reconnaissance d’être là (Nic dans un français parfait). Des remerciements très spéciaux notamment à GDP et à Olivier Garnier (Replica Promotion) grâce à qui ce concert a pu avoir lieu.

Un succès total pour THE EFFECT ce soir à Paris.

Une heure de rock énergique, optimiste et captivant. Le groupe a largement fait ses preuves et nous a présenté une collection de morceaux mémorables, garnis de belles mélodies entêtantes et des refrains accrocheurs qui ont mis valeur les talents individuels de chaque membre de la formation.

Le public a été visiblement conquis, les téléphones et les bras se sont agités en l’air tout au long de la soirée et de fortes ovations ont récompensé cette magnifique prestation.

Il nous reste maintenant attendre la sortie de leur album et espérons les revoir bientôt sur les scènes françaises.

With only a few singles in their luggage, the young American band, THE EFFECT went on a European tour in June 2024: a few concerts in support of the legendary band, TOTO but also as headliner in clubs, including the Petit Bain in Paris where the band landed on June 10, 2024. 

Initially a quartet with Trev Lukather (Steve’s son) – guitar, Nic Collins (Phil’s son)- drums, Emmett Stang – vocals and Steve Maggiora (Toto, RJTW) – keyboards, the band from Los Angeles has become a trio, as Maggiora announced just before the European tour that he was unfortunately forced to leave the adventure because of his many other activities.

If THE EFFECT was born in 2023, the members of the band are all seasoned musicians with a huge experience both on the road and in the studio: Nic has toured with his father, Genesis and Mike + The Mechanics. Trev is known as a solo artist, producer and writer and has toured with famous artists and produced bands like Dorothy and Halestorm, while Emmett has successfully made a name for himself on the web.

A band to listen to urgently!

8:50 p.m., it’s time for THE EFFECT. The 3 Americans start with a bang with Toxic Envy, a track already released as a single: powerful hard-rock with a soaring chorus reminiscent of 80’s stadium rock. The musicians are smiling and move easily on stage in contact with the front rows. No need for more time for the audience to fall under their spell.

The other two excellent singles already released Something Wrong and Unwanted will be performed alongside new tracks that will be part of the next album that Trev announces to be released soon.

With a very dynamic guitar playing, Trev sends brilliant riffs. Nic Collins delivers an avalanche of strong and pulsating shots. He even offered us a powerful solo towards the middle of the set.  Emmett Stang, a striking resemblance to Jim Morrison, has a magnificent voice: powerful, seductive and full of emotion. Rid of his shirt after a few songs, the charming and charismatic singer will attract all eyes.

A highlight of the evening, the cover of Journey, It Could Have Been You that Trev will dedicate to his wife Madison and also to some dear friends in the room.

This track was recently released as a single, with the participation of Steve Perry, the emblematic singer of Journey. 

Note the beautiful complicity of the musicians on stage and the excellent communication with the audience. Each musician will express his joy and gratitude to be there (Nic in perfect French).

A total success for THE EFFECT tonight in Paris.  An hour of energetic, optimistic and captivating rock. The band has largely proven itself and presented us with a collection of memorable tracks, filled with beautiful heady melodies and catchy choruses that showcased the individual talents of each member of the band.

The audience was visibly won over, phones and arms waved in the air throughout the evening and loud ovations rewarded this magnificent performance.

We now have to wait for the release of their album and hope to see them again soon on the French stages.
