BLACKRAIN – Nobody But You

Commençons cette playlist avec une magnifique ballade : Nobody But You de BLACKRAIN.

Après 2 albums studios – « Dying Breed » (2019) et « Untamed » (2022) – qui ont marqué le renouveau du groupe, affirmé son identité autant musicale que visuelle, à travers un deal avec le label allemand Steamhammer/SPV, les Sleaze rockers de BlackRain – Swan Hellion (chant/guitare), Matthieu de la Roche (basse) et Max 2 (guitare) – se sont accordé une « petite halte » pour prendre le temps de remettre au goût du jour certaines chansons marquantes de leur passé.

Fort de l’arrivée dans ses rangs du batteur Franky Costanza (Dagoba, Les Tambours du Bronx), le quatuor a tout simplement décidé de réenregistrer/remixer 10 chansons précédemment sorties sur «Lethal Dose Of » (2011) et « It Begins » (2013) dans un nouvel album, HOT ROCK TIME MACHINE, qui sortira le 12 avril 2024.

L’idée initiale était motivée par une volonté de rendre ces anciens morceaux accessibles à ce public plus large qui a (re)découvert BlackRain à partir de 2019, via, notamment, les plateformes digitales ; mais aussi de les mettre en phase avec le son actuel du combo.

Découvrez la magnifique ballade, Nobody But You, l’une des plus belles ballades de son répertoire. Cette chanson a une signification toute particulière pour celui qui l’a composée, Swan, le chanteur / guitariste de la troupe : « “Sweet child o’mine”, “Still loving you”, “Carrie”… Combien de fois a-t-on entendu dire que les groupes de Hard Rock étaient les auteurs des plus belles ballades ?

C’est exactement avec cette ferme intention, qu’il y a 10 ans, nous avions enregistré Nobody but You. Mais les choses ne se sont pas vraiment déroulées comme nous l’avions espéré, et comme plusieurs de nos autres chansons, elle est tombée dans l’oubli.

Ce morceau est sans aucun doute à l’origine de ce processus de réenregistrement, car nous avons le sentiment que son énorme potentiel n’avait jamais été vraiment exploité.

La chanson est accompagnée par une superbe vidéo réalisée par Matthieu de la Roche, le bassiste du groupe, qui se souvient : « Il y a 10 ans exactement, je réalisais la première mouture du clip de “Nobody But You”. C’était la première fois que je tournais avec une vraie équipe de cinéma dotée de matériel professionnel. Malheureusement, pour des raisons de droits de production, cette vidéo n’a jamais vu le jour. Alors, quand il a été question de réenregistrer ce morceau, tout le groupe a pensé qu’il fallait reprendre l’histoire où elle s’était arrêtée. L’idée initiale était de plonger le groupe dans un univers onirique, rappelant l’ambiance des films de la fin des 80’s ou du début 90’s, avec des spots très puissants, des jeux de clair-obscur, de la fumée lourde.

On voulait quelque chose qui évoque l’ambiance qu’on retrouvait dans les films de Tim Burton par exemple.

Quand le décor a fini d’être mis en place, avec ces arbres inquiétants, je me suis installé derrière l’écran de contrôle, j’ai vu Swan à l’image derrière son piano, et j’ai tout de suite su qu’on avait enfin le cadre qu’on rêvait de donner cette chanson »

ACCEPT, les titans allemands de Heavy Metal, sont de retour, avec un nouvel album studio très attendu, le 17eme de leur carrière, qui sortira le 26 avril 2024 via Napalm Records !

Intitulé Humanoid cet excellent opus a été une fois de plus, produit, enregistré, mixé et masterisé par Andy Sneap (Judas Priest, Amon Amarth, Testament, Saxon, etc.), at his Backstage Recording Studios Ltd., in Derbyshire, UK,

A notre également que fin avril ACCEPT va entamer une énorme tournée mondiale qui passera par la France le 28.10.24 (Toulouse / Le Bikini), 29.10.24(Lyon / Transbordeur), 01.11.24 (Paris / Elysée Montmartre sans oublier bien sûr leur concert le 29 juin 2024 sur la  Mainstage du Hellfest.

JUDAS PRIEST – Trial By Fire

Invincible Shield, le 19 ème album de du groupe légendaire de heavy metal britanique JUDAS PRIEST est disponible depuis le 8 mars et il est absolument magistral. Il seront bientôt en concert à Lyon (Hall Tony Garnier le 5 Avril) et à Paris (Zenith le 8 Avril) en compagnie de Saxon et mais aussi le dimanche 23 juin à l’affiche du festival Heavy Week-end à Nancy! ROYAL REPUBLIC – Lazerlove

Nos suédois favoris de Royal Republic annoncent un nouvel album, LOVECOP, qui sortira le 7 juin 2024

THE WARNING –S!CK

Voilà un groupe rock 100% féminin en pleine ascension: The Warning. Formé par les 3 sœurs Villarreal : Alejandra, Paulina et Daniela originaire de Monterrey au Mexique, le groupe entamera une grande tournée européenne en avril et elles passeront par Paris avec un concert déjà archi complet, le 18 avril à l’Alhambra et aussi au festival Main Square en juillet 2024.

Leur Nouvel album, Keep Me Fed, sera dispo le 28 juin 2024. Découvrez l’entêtant et très énergique premier extrait S!ck. On en reparlera.

A noter que l’année dernière, les filles ont assuré la première partie de la tournée monumentale de MUSE – « Will of the People World Tour »   

CONQUER DIVIDE – N E W H E A V E N

Et pourquoi ne pas continuer avec un autre groupe 100 % féminin CONQUER DIVIDE, dont on vous a déjà parlé il ya quelque temps. Le groupe “international” composé de la chanteuse Kiarely Taylor, la bassiste/chanteuse Janel Duarte, la guitariste Isabel Johnson, la batteuse Samantha Landa et la guitariste Kristen Sturgis se produira en ouverture de The Warning le 18 avril à l’Alhambra. Redécouvrez la puissance de leur rock énergique garni de magnifiques mélodies avec leur album SLOW BURN, sorti l’année dernière.

BON JOVI- Legendary

Bon Jovi annonce la sortie d’un nouvel album « FOREVER » pour le 7 juin et dévoile un premier single « Legendary ».

Plus besoin de présentation pour le groupe américain. Avec plus de 130 millions d’albums vendus, un vaste catalogue d’hymnes à succès, des milliers de concerts donnés en 50 pays, le groupe mythique a été intronisé au Rock N Roll Hall of Fame et aussi au Songwriters Hall of Fame. FOREVER sera le 16 album dans leur superbe carrière qui dure depuis 40 ans. Plus de détails à suivre.

QAMELTO- Legion

Formé en 2019, QAMELTO est un groupe de rock français clermontois dynamique et plein d’énergie.

Après un EP sorti début 2020 et près d’une centaine de concerts depuis 2021, QAMELTO sort enfin son premier album « Scotoma » le 15 mars 2024 chez le label M&O Music.

Le concept insolite de la pochette où le CD est fixé à une peinture et les invités de marque (NeoGeofanatic ou Superflame) proposés par le groupe font de Scotoma une invitation à plonger dans un monde où l’innovation et l’originalité redéfinissent l’art sonore.

De mélodies plein d’entrain, des rythmiques percutantes et des paroles sarcastiques (en français) inspirés du monde qui nous entourent, voilà un groupe français très prometteur. Récemment, j’ai eu le plaisir de discuter avec eux, donc bientôt l’interview et des plus amples présentations.

SLASH – feat. Brian Johnson- Killing Floor

Nombreux sont les projets de SLASH,notamment avec Guns N’Roses et Velvet Revolver mais aussi des projets solos comme Slash’s Snakepit et Slash Ft. Myles Kennedy & the Conspirators.

Récemment, le célèbre guitariste et compositeur a annoncé son premier album de blues, Orgy of the Damned, pour le 17 mai 2024.

Ça sera son sixième album solo, pour lequel SLASH a fait appel à des invites de marque pour le chant :  Brian Johnson (AC/DC), Beth Hart, Chris Stapleton,  Iggy Pop, Paul Rodgers, Gary Clark Jr, Billy F. Gibbons (ZZ Top), Chris Robinson (The Black Crowes), Demi Lovato, Dorothy et Tash Neal.

En 12 morceaux dynamiques il rend hommage au blues en revitalisant des classiques du style avec une approche dépouillée et spontanée, à l’image du premier single, « Killing Floor », sur lequel on retrouve Brian Johnson d’AC/DC au chant et Steven Tyler d’Aerosmith à l’harmonica.

Une interprétation électrique, rugueuse et joyeusement débridée du standard de Howlin’ Wolf datant de 1964.

« Killing Floor » est l’un de mes morceaux favoris de Howlin’ Wolf, mais aussi l’un des riffs iconiques du blues qui m’ont fait rêver quand j’ai commencé la guitare. » déclare Slash. « J’ai toujours voulu le reprendre et ce disque m’en a enfin donné l’occasion. L’enregistrer avec ce groupe, plus Brian Johnson au chant est un accomplissement dont je n’aurais jamais osé rêver. N’oublions pas non plus le coup de main de Steven Tyler »

BLACKRAIN – Nobody But You

Let’s start this playlist with a beautiful ballad: Nobody But You by BLACKRAIN. After 2 studio albums – “Dying Breed” (2019) and “Untamed” (2022) – which marked the band’s revival, asserted its musical and visual identity, through a deal with the German label Steamhammer/SPV, the Sleaze rockers of BlackRain – Swan Hellion (vocals/guitar), Matthieu de la Roche (bass) and Max 2 (guitar) – have allowed themselves a “little break” to take the time to bring up to date some of the most important songs of their past. 

With the arrival of drummer Franky Costanza (Dagoba, The Bronx Drums), the quartet has simply decided to re-record/remix 10 previously released songs from “Lethal Dose Of” (2011) and “It Begins” (2013) into a new album, HOT ROCK TIME MACHINE, which will be released on April 12, 2024.

The initial idea was motivated by a desire to make these old tracks accessible to this wider audience who (re)discovered BlackRain from 2019, via digital platforms; but also, to bring them into line with the current sound of the combo. 

Discover the magnificent ballad, Nobody But You, one of the most beautiful ballads in their discography. This song has a very special meaning for the one who composed it, Swan, the singer / guitarist of the troupe: “”Sweet child o’mine”, “Still loving you”, “Carrie”… How many times have we heard that Hard Rock bands are the authors of the most beautiful ballads?  It was with this firm intention that 10 years ago we recorded Nobody but You. But things didn’t really turn out the way we had hoped, and like many of our other songs, it fell into oblivion.

This track is undoubtedly at the origin of this re-recording process, as we have the feeling that its enormous potential had never really been exploited. 

The song is accompanied by a superb video directed by Matthieu de la Roche, the band’s bassist, who recalls: “Exactly 10 years ago, I was directing the first version of the video for “Nobody But You”. It was the first time I’d shot with a real film crew with professional equipment. Unfortunately, due to production rights issues, this video never saw the light of day. So, when it came time to re-record this song, the whole band thought we had to pick up where the story left off. The initial idea was to plunge the band into a dreamlike universe, reminiscent of the atmosphere of late 80’s or early 90’s films, with very powerful spotlights, chiaroscuro ambience and heavy smoke.

We wanted something that evoked the atmosphere of Tim Burton’s films, for example.  When the set was ready, with these disturbing trees, I sat behind the control screen, I saw Swan in the picture behind his piano, and I knew right away that we finally had the frame we dreamed of giving this song”

ACCEPT, the German Heavy Metal titans, are back with a highly anticipated new studio album, the 17th of their career, which will be released on April 26, 2024 via Napalm Records! 

Entitled Humanoid this excellent album was once again produced, recorded, mixed and mastered by Andy Sneap (Judas Priest, Amon Amarth, Testament, Saxon, etc.), at his Backstage Recording Studios Ltd., in Derbyshire, UK.

And we continue with another 100% female band CONQUER DIVIDE, which we already told you about some time ago. The “international” band consisting of singer Kiarely Taylor, bassist/singer Janel Duarte, guitarist Isabel Johnson, drummer Samantha Landa and guitarist Kristen Sturgis will open for The Warning on April 18 at the Alhambra, good opportunity to finally see them live.

BON JOVI – Legendary

Bon Jovi announces the release of a new album, FOREVER, for June 7th and unveils a first single “Legendary”.  No need for an introduction for the American group. With more than 130 million albums sold, a huge number of anthems, thousands of concerts given in 50 countries, the mythical band has been inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame and also the Songwriters Hall of Fame. FOREVER will be the 16th album in their superb 40-year career. More details to follow.

QAMELTO – Légion

Formed in 2019, QAMELTO is a dynamic and energetic French rock band from Clermont-Ferrand.  After an EP released in early 2020 and nearly a hundred concerts since 2021, QAMELTO finally releases his first album “Scotoma” on March 15, 2024 on the M&O Music label.

The unusual concept of the sleeve where the CD is attached to a painting and the distinguished guests (NeoGeofanatic or Superflame) proposed by the band make Scotoma an invitation to dive into a world where innovation and originality redefine sound art.

Spirited melodies, percussive rhythms, and sarcastic lyrics (in French) inspired by the society and people around us, this is a very promising French band. Recently, I had the pleasure of chatting with them, so soon the interview and further informations.

SLASH- feat. Brian Johnson – Killing Floor

SLASH is part of many musical projects, including of course Guns N’ Roses and Velvet Revolver, as well as solo projects such as Slash’s Snakepit and Slash Ft. Myles Kennedy & the Conspirators.

Recently, the acclaimed guitarist and songwriter announced his debut blues album, Orgy of the Damned, for May 17, 2024.  This will be his sixth solo album, for which SLASH has featured guest vocalists Brian Johnson (AC/DC), Beth Hart, Chris Stapleton, Iggy Pop, Paul Rodgers, Gary Clark Jr., Billy F. Gibbons (ZZ Top), Chris Robinson (The Black Crowes), Demi Lovato, Dorothy and Tash Neal.

In 12 dynamic tracks, he pays tribute to the blues by revitalizing classics of the style with a stripped-down and spontaneous approach, like the first single, “Killing Floor“, on which we find Brian Johnson of AC/DC on vocals and Steven Tyler of Aerosmith on harmonica.

An electric, rough and joyfully unbridled interpretation of Howlin’ Wolf’s 1964 standard.  “Killing Floor” is one of my favorite Howlin’ Wolf songs, but also one of the iconic blues riffs that made me dream when I started playing guitar. Slash says. “I’ve always wanted to cover it and this record finally gave me the opportunity. Recording it with this band, plus Brian Johnson on vocals is an accomplishment I would never have dared to dream of. And let’s not forget Steven Tyler’s helping hand.”

Originally from the Paris region, Aguelenna took its first steps on the stages of the Ile-de-France region, with nearly 150 concerts, alongside artists such as Mademoiselle K, Lou Reed, H-F Thiefaine, Pony Pony Run Run, Villa Fantôme, or Tri Yann.

Accompanied by SMAC L’Empreinte (Savigny-le-Temple 77), Aguelenna then took the time to deepen all aspects of creation and went even further in the development of his music and texts.
